Seoul Garden
“Whether it is eating in or placing an order for takeout, Seoul Garden is the standard by which tofu soup (soondubu) should be measured.”
“The soondubu was also really tasty, although beware, spicy is actually pretty spicy.”
“I think the tofu soups here are just as good as BCD's. I always order it spicy for an extra kick.”

My friends and I came and we were seated in a tight booth near the windows. The service was prompt and efficient though not particularly warm.
We were given complimentary steamed eggs for the table that were a little bland.
I enjoyed my bibimbap and they were generous with the number of banchan given to the table.
Food came out pretty fast and piping hot.
Seating was a little tight.
Got the Jap Chae dish via Meal Pass for lunch. It was a nice surprise the amount of food – it came with a full set of banchan, a health serving of white rice, and a cup of miso soup in addition to the main dish.
The overall quality wasn't amazing, but it was tasty, fresh, and lasted me for lunch and dinner. The Jap Chae could have used a bit more flavoring but was reminiscent of something from Woorijip, so I really won't complain since I love it there.
I'm not sure what the normal price of this would be, but being that it was from Meal Pass I'm pretty satisfied. They had it hot and ready when I arrived during my pickup window, which is always nice. They're on the second floor of the building so may be easy to miss – just look for the sandwich board outside to make sure you find it.
Take the stars with a grain of salt !I enjoyed this place. The food was good as was the service.I went for a late Sunday lunch and shared Korean BBQ cooked on the table with my wife.It consisted of two kinds of beef and chicken with a number of vegetable side dishes.Unusually for New York , this is a second story restaurant that overlooks 32 St.It's overall an attractive restaurant.I drank Korean beer with lunch.(OB is better than Hite). For desert they gave us a non dairy pro biotic drink. By the way ,you're about 8 minutes from Penn Station, so it's easy to catch a train from here.
The advantage of Seoul Garden is that it's upstairs–aka you'll find fewer tourists and more locals up here sharing Korean BBQ and delicious Korean basics before their big Friday nights out. I love getting the seafood pancake here, a BUNCH of barbecue, and some soondubu (tofu soup). This is where I come if I just want a good meal with my friends with no frills and a home-y atmosphere. It's definitely not as fancy or flashy as the restaurants you'll see on the first floor, but it'll do for a local like me.
Called the night before to make a reservation for 18 people and we were promptly seated and never felt rushed. The restaurant itself is extremely spacious, which I was pleasantly surprised by considering how cramped and crowded it can be in Koreatown. The service was quick and friendly, even considering that half of our party had shown up a bit late.
We had ordered the seafood pancake, dduck bokyi (rice cakes and fish cakes in sweet and spicy red sauce), seafood fried rice, and an octopus dol sot bibim bap. The food was generously portioned and extremely tasty, especially the seafood pancake and dduck bokyi. I would skip the seafood fried rice for next time because although it was good, it was nothing special. All in all, a great meal that didn't break the bank! Although I didn't get the korean bbq, my friends did and they loved it so next time, I'll have to try that!
Going to give the disclaimer that it was hot as hell this weekend and I think the conditions I experienced were not typical…still rating on my experience, though.
We were all hangry and wanting to find a place to eat Korean BBQ. Didn't bother looking up any reviews and walked into this place. Apparently the AC wasn't working…and we were seated far from a fan initially so we moved tables. Then we were seated under a fan but it wasn't on maximum speed, nor could they change it they said (odd, I saw another fan blowing faster…).
It was so hot that we didn't even cook the pork belly and LA kalbi meat on the grill in front of us. They offered to cook it for us in the back, which I thought was nice…but the pork belly was hard and pretty bland, and the LA kalbi was overcooked. Sigh. Also wish there was a service button to get the server's attention…
I'm not from NYC, and have had plenty of Korean BBQ in Atlanta, especially all you can eat…so I was disappointed by what I got for the price I paid even if it is considered normal here. Didn't love the side dishes, and the limited sauces didn't really make the meat better. Hoping to find a better Korean BBQ place next time…
This was an ok korean restaurant. Some slight complains were upon seating, the service was a tad slow. They didn't take our orders until 10 minutes after seating.
They brought us a wrong dish but we had already dipped our utensils in them as the server realize that it was to late they took the dish away and threw it out instead of offering it to us as a complementary dish….what a waste of food! After that the Co workers started arguing.
This place offers Kbbq style also and the food was decently good.
This restaurant is huge and seems great for large parties. Thanks to my friend Rosanna for suggesting this place! We walked in Saturday night around 9pm with a group of 10 and was able to snag a long table. We did have to wait 15 min. to get the table that would be able to accommodate the 10 of us, otherwise we could have been seated immediately if we separated into two groups.
Each person in our group ordered their own entree and we ordered appetizers to share. It was an obscene amount of food especially with the addition of banchan. Everything came out pretty timely though.
Seafood Pancake – Some seafood pancakes are too doughy and lack enough ingredients. This one could use some more seafood, but had a decent amount of scallions. Thankfully it was very crispy. This was large enough to split among our group of 10.
Kimchi Pancake – In addition to the seafood pancake, we ordered a kimchi pancake. This one wasn't as good as the seafood pancake. It was on the more doughy side and in my opinion needed more kimchi.
Fried Mandoo – I never had a Korean dumpling before nor a beef dumpling. These were delicious, especially when freshly fried.
Nak Ji Dup Bap – This consisted of octopus and a whole lot of onions in the typical spicy gochujang sauce over rice. There wasn't much octopus and way too many onions. Probably wouldn't ordered this again.
Galbi-Tang – This is what I should have ordered instead. I couldn't stop sneaking a few bites from my friend who ordered this dish. It consisted of tender beef short rib chunks and daikon radish in a clear broth. Tastes exactly like Chinese daikon radish and pork rib soup, except beefy instead of porky. Extremely comforting and healthy looking too.
Service was great! Our table was so overfilled with food that for the two people that ordered Korean BBQ, they set up a separate side grill by our table and grilled everything for them. We were the last group to leave and I feel like we stayed well beyond closing and they didn't kick us out. They even gave us an extra bottle of makkoli on the house. At the end everyone also each got a Yakult. I'll be back, especially for the Galbi-Tang.
