I'm not even Korean and I am offended. I don't think it is fair to rate a completely non-korean food truck run by non-korean people (not even close to asian) on its korean food, even if it claims to be "seoul food". Let us just assume I came to this food truck expecting some decent food. I was horribly disappointed. Worst food I've ever had. The rice was "eh". There were large chunks of raw onions, slabs of raw carrots, and iceberg lettuce. The bulgogi was super soggy and the mushrooms were burnt and unrecognizable. The whole thing was a disaster and it was a whopping $11!!! At first I was upset with how little food there was but then I was immediately glad because I wouldn't have to throw out as much food. Worst purchase I've ever made. And on top of that, the guy tried to charge me $1.50 for a small bottle of poland springs. You have got to be kidding me.
I usually don't give bad reviews unless I really need to. I had to wait 30 minutes for the truck to "prep" and another 30 after that. They took my order with an iPad, and although I was the first in line, I got my food last. I had to complain to the workers and ask them what was happening with my order, and after the guy asked me what I got, he put together my pork burrito in 2 minutes. Also, the food isn't even good. I will definitely not return again.
Just for the record, not so much a fan of fusion food, but there was something a bit intriguing about Korean pork wrapped in a Mexican style burrito. I loved the flavors, but it was a bit messy to eat on the go. I want to try out a few more options.
Love these guys. Used to hit them in Midtown when I worked there. Unfortunately haven't seen them downtown. Korean tacos, burritos and rice bowls that are banging. There are a lot of trucks doing this out there but these guys are fun and tasty. Bulgogi beef and spicy pork are both standouts here.
The rice plate I ordered was flat out awful. This did not come close to any food truck standard..I Iike Korean food but this made what I ate at the food court at K-town look a whole lot better. Like my good friend Fry says, "Ehh, it's like a party in my mouth and everyone is throwing up."
The rice plate, I don't know how you can mess up a simple dish but now I know. The white rice was cold, firm, and not completely cooked, kalbi short rib was more dry, had little flavor, and chewy, kimchi was sour not spicy. To sum it up, worst meal I had this month. $9.76?? It's a shame, really. Never coming back. I can't believe I ate such garbage.
Seoul food you've lost your seoul.
I used to like your bibimbap – it was a good sized portion for the price, but you've changed the container size (noticeably) and it's frankly not worth the money anymore.
Tried your tacos and the meat was too watery – leaked all over the bag they were in. Can I eat this poorly packaged, greasy, wet mess with a white business shirt on? No.
Tried your burrito just 2 days ago. The meat was fine but the brown rice inside was hard and dry. I make brown rice at home all the time. Those of us who make it regularly realize that it has to be cooked correctly or it gets dry and hard. My burrito then had some meat, some gross hard crunchy rice and a few veggies. The sauce slid all the way to the bottom (or was only put on one side?) so half the burrito was completely dry and flavorless. Big disappointment.
Not sure why they had such a slip in quality but I will be going to other trucks or restaurants from now on.
I almost forgot – this last time I ate there you did not have any bread for your sandwiches, and there were no fries. How can you not be prepared for a lunch hour? (I was there at 12:05pm)
I've tried both the bulgogi and short rib tacos from here and both were pleasant and meaty. I'm not a Korean food officiando by any means so I couldn't really tell you how authentic their food is. All I know is that it tasted good and all the ingredients were proportionate which I appreciate. Friendly staff and pretty inexpensive. Would definitely order from here again.
ordered from this place a while ago when it first opened. They had a huge line and service was impossibly slow. The highlight was a soft taco, which was just OK. the rest of the meal was completely non memorable. Much better options elsewhere.
