I've been here a few times and ordered delivery once, and each time I keep trying to like the place but it just never happened for me.
Now don't get me wrong, Serafina is decent, it just would never be my first, second, or even third or fourth choice for food in the area. Here are my experiences ….
When I ordered delivery, the food did come fast and was more warm to cold than hot, which is concerning since they only had to walk less than a block to get to the building I was at. If I was basing my review on my delivery experience alone, then I probably would've given 2.5 to 3 stars.
On all the times I've visited, it just feels like the staff doesn't really care; and let me give you some examples of this. Each time I've gone the staff is constantly on their cell phones while on the floor, or will sit at the bar on their cell phone. Now, it's fine with me if they're on break or even if it is just the fact that they don't have any tables to wait on but that isn't the case. There have been times where we were actively trying to get our server's attention but he was too engulfed in his cell phone to notice we were out of water and still hadn't received one of the entrees we ordered when everyone else already started eating. We visited over the winter and constantly their staff/delivery personnel would hold the doors open, causing all of the cold air to rush in, making for a super uncomfortable dinner with a jacket on. On two occasions I was told they were out of GF spaghetti, so I would be getting GF penne, but then when my plate comes it would be spaghetti; from there I'd be very confused, and both times when I asked them to verify that what I was about to eat was GF, they gave a very annoyed face. (Not sure how to respond to it either, like, "Hey man, sorry for making you do your job.")
And to be honest, this may sound nitpicky, but it all comes down to the fact that Serafina is not cheap. I am willing to throw down more money if it means I am getting what I pay for with the price, like great quality and tasting food along with spot-on service. However with the food being just OK and the service being pretty poor, not sure what I am paying for anymore; hence the lower rating in my book.
Until they either lower their prices or step up their customer service game to match their prices, I doubt I'll be back. Maybe just delivery, but even that will be rare.
I walked by this place the other day and saw a grand (or soft?) opening. I had a chance to stop by for a drink and had to share my experience.
Services definitely need more training. I asked for a drink menu at the door but was directed to the bar. Then there was no body at the bar to greet my party. Shortly after a bartender saw my party and offered dinner menu. I was confused for a second and she then asked if I wanted the drink menu instead. They only have the wine list and some other drinks. No cocktail menu was available just yet but someone else chimed in and told us they can mix just about anything.
I had a gin and tonic because I wasn't sure how long I would stay at the place. I will just say that it was not the best gin and tonic. And it costed me $10 each. It was fine because I really liked the ambiance. The decor is really nice!
I will have to check back and update my review accordingly. I didn't get a chance to try it's food so this review is not your best judgment call for food quality.
Very good. We had the lobster ravioli. The service and food were great, but I can't rate it higher, because I feel it is over priced for Italian food. Will return, but will be watching the entree' prices. $12 a glass for house wine?
Came to Serafina for a holiday event.
The service was okay. The food swung back and forth between good and meh. The best thing you can get here is the brick oven pizza. It actually gives Bettalona a run for it's money. The bruschetta and ceasar salad were lacking. The calamari was good. The ravioli, rigatoni, and penne were on the meh side with most of the pasta being grossly undercooked. The chicken palliard was great.
In limbo, you are.
