  1. My friends and I got a reservation for a Saturday night. We showed up early and the place was half-empty so they seated us right awah. It was a small restaurant that would have been easy to pass by if not for Yelp. I checked in for the free margarita.

The margarita was a little strong for my liking and the other drink that my friend ordered (negroni?) looked like it was not up to the quality for the amount she paid. We skipped the appetizers but other tables had chips and guac, which looked very good. I had the shrimp ceviche, which was a good mix of flavors. The presentation was on point. My friends had the tacos and they seemed pretty happy with them. The tacos come in sets of 2 or 4. We weren't very hungry so the sets of 2 ended up working out.

The wait staff forgot a lot of things for our table. First, they didn't take our order for a while because we were seated at the front of the restaurant. They forgot a soda that was ordered, so my friend had to ask for it again. They also completely forgot to bring a side dish altogether but we did not ask for it as the dinner was already late. We split the check and wrote out how much should be charged on each card, but they mixed all of that up. (The last part, I understand, it's hard to do multiple transactions, all different amounts, in the dark…)

Overall, it was a laid-back dining experience and they might be worth trying again for a dinner when other, more popular restaurants of the neighborhood are busy.

  2. New Mexican place that opened up in Chelsea.

If you're looking for some cheese smothered Tex Mex you'll really be disappointed, however if youre looking for something a bit more authentic and upscale, this restaurant will fit the bill.

The food here was solid and the portions were a bit on the small side given the higher prices. For instance, I got the carne asada tacos and there was only 2 small tacos. They were stuffed with meat, but I would have preferred an extra tortilla with less filling.

  3. Generous serving of Guac and salsas with our appetizer order with unlimited chips. I liked that the chips were similar to the ones from taquerias, but the 2 accompanying salsas were a bit questionable.

Ceviche was good, but nothing that I will crave again. Taquitos were also good. Tacos looked quite good but we didn't have the space for them!

I have no complaints about this place, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat here. However, you won't leave unsatisfied if you do–though your wallet may not like to pay 13+ dollars for 2 tacos.

  4. Don't fall for this Yelp review trap. There is nothing authentic going on here despite folks with 2-3 reviews calling it "best mexican everrr". 2 Stars for the attentive service and yummy hot salsa, but everything else was below average starting with the guacamole which is pre-made and comes out within a few minutes of ordering. The Fish Tacos are okay but the steak tacos are bland. And why in the world is there no corn tortilla here? The Tres Leches dessert was a shame…

Can't believe this is what replaced the same location that used to house Crema  🙁
