Settepani
“Good reliable option in the neighborhood, lovely outdoor seating and great hosts, reliable food.”
“The three of us had everything I mentioned, as well as coffee and a bottle of wine ($25, I think) and the total came to $105 (including tax) plus tip.”
“The appetizer I had was mushrooms baked in parchment paper with a pesto-like paste.”

I'm posting this review for people considering hosting a brunch party here only. I can't speak to the quality of their regular service.
I came here for a Sunday party during brunch. When we arrived on time at 11:30 the tables/chairs hadn't all been set up yet (bad sign).
Once all the guests had arrived- the waiters should have gone around taking orders immediately so that the food could be prepared while everyone chatted and a little ceremony took place. Instead they waited until after the ceremony at about 12:30 to start taking orders. All the work fell mostly on one waitress who was trying her best while everyone else ran around looking confused.
The food finally started coming out at about 1:15. For a fixed menu- this is ridiculous. They set the menu in advance so they can anticipate what to cook and get a head start on prep. It seems like they didn't take advantage of that at all. It took about an hour to get all the food out. Most people were already finished and had their plates cleared while others hadn't even been served yet. It was really awkward and uncomfortable. The party ended much later than when it was supposed to (at 2)
The food itself was fine. The menu was simple- eggs benedict, omelettes, burger, etc. I enjoyed my eggs benedict with smoked salmon.
I would not recommend this restaurant for parties but perhaps they do a better job with their regular service.
I feel the need to write this review after coming here multiple times and just finding so much amiss.
The food can be good, unfortunately nothing mind-blowing for the price point.
What irks me the most has been the service here. After hoping that the next time would be better than the last, and realizing I should have just stayed home and eaten anything else to avoid coming here.
Being ignored at your table for long periods of time, not getting refills, having to get up to find a waiter/waitress so that you can put an order in… Not acceptable. Especially when they aren't busy, and there was a guy literally standing 2 feet away who did nothing. When his friends came in he seemed to care, but everyone else, not so much. I haven't been back since then nor do I plan to.
I only gave 2 stars because it's clean and the food is okay when someone eventually comes to take your order.
Word of advice- step it up when so many great places are opening nearby.
Great outdoor frontage on Lenox, and a lovely corner joint to dine. I walked in first spotting Eric from Basketball Wives- cool!
Foodwise:
Nice bread with boring olive oil and balsamic
Tomato soup with spicey arugula was tasty- $8
Ravioli with swiss chard in a sage sauce was mostly flavorless- $14
This is a spot to dine and people watch in this neigborhoody joint close to all the happening Uptown action. A few blocks from Red Rooster.
Had brunch here today– the food and service were terrible. We were seated in the back by the kitchen, and my eggs benedict came all mangled. One of them had broken and run over. The other was just messy looking. Later on I realized that it did not even have the sauce on it! I really should have sent it back, but at the time I didn't want to waste the food and rationalized to myself that the egg had broken but had not run out completely. I asked my friend how her scrambled eggs were and she didn't say anything about them, but they didn't look that great either.
We also ordered a side of pork sausage as an appetizer, but they didn't bring it out, and we only remembered later and had to ask for it. "Didn't we order pork sausage?" "Yes, it's in the kitchen." So she brought it out, but we had already finished our brunch by this time and it felt odd to eat that at the end (it was not very good on its own merit– just some overfried slices). Since by this time she had made so many errors as to seem to defy random chance, my suspicions were aroused and I think it is possible that she purposely omitted it. I thought this because of the way she said "yes, it's in the kitchen," instead of "oh yes," as in, I forgot. But letting go of that subtle point, service was horrible– it was literally about a half hour before we got bread; even longer until our meal came; they never refilled our water until asked; they tried to take our food away when we weren't finished.
The people next to us had issues as well– I think we were in the "unwanted customers" section. I could go into more details, but I think this is enough to give an idea. Message received, loud and clear. I am not coming back and I will tell people what I think this place is, whenever I have the opportunity.
Pardon this midwestern gal, but I'm just a little confused by people who hit up an Italian restaurant for breakfast. Yes, I understand that Italian people do in fact eat breakfast, but it just strikes me as odd to choose an Italian restaurant for the first meal of your day, as opposed to lunch and dinner, meals which I feel are more accommodating for Italian fare. You don't go to IHOP for ravioli, so please don't go to Settepani for pancakes.
That being said, I was extremely pleased with Settepani. My friend and neighbor suggested this as a place we check out for a dinner "date" (he is a regular) and I was really excited to find such a lovely place with delicious food and very wallet-friendly prices. Our waiter was friendly and not overbearing, made suggestions on the menu, and was accommodating to us in every way. As a side note, the place was nearly empty around 7:30pm on a Friday night, with only 5-10 guests inside. I actually appreciated the peaceful ambiance of the place, although the smooth jazz Kenny G playlist they have going on in there was not my cup of tea.
We ordered a mushroom with lemon and anchovies appetizer that was somewhat "meh." Not bad but nothing memorable. Bread with olive oil and balsamic was solid, and we were offered two types of bread, multigrain and regular "Italian" crusty bread. My butternut squash ravioli with butter and sage sauce was indeed the bomb dot com and I have a feeling that will be my "go-to" dish in the near future. It was just perfect in every way: the portion size, the fresh sage and squash, the nice cinnamon-y nutmeg-y flavors, the rich yet also light butter sauce… Amazing! For dessert, we had the cheesecake and the panna cotta which were also generously sized and were rich and delicious. Free bread, an appetizer, a perfect main course, and two desserts came to the very reasonable amount of $47.
If you're looking for a touch of class, helpful service, tasty Italian fare, and wallet-friendly prices, Settepani is it.
A lovely restaurant. Intimate, warm and inviting. Festive atmosphere as I was attending a birthday party. The grilled branzino was delicious as was pappardelle bolognese. Staff is attentive, friendly, professional.
This restaurant has a great ambiance. It's a nice place to take your mom out to dinner or for brunch. As for me, I was unhappy with my choices.
My cousins ordered the stuffed chicken, they loved it. I got the shrimp and asparagus pappardelle. It tasted very shrimpy, I'm not big on foods that have a high shrimp flavor. Maybe it's just me, because I brought it home, and my wife loved it.
3 meals, 3 desserts, shared appetizer, and a sangria came to $103, I think that's a good group dinner.
The sangria was great buy the way. The bartender even made and extra effort to get me more fruit in mine. She gets a five star review. 🙂
I forgot to mention, the live band on the Sunday night that I went. That was a fabulous and unexpected addition to the evening
