I was pleasantly surprised – it was quite good.
Food: penne alla vodka with shrimp was filled with a strong sauce that I have not yet found anywhere else. Cappuccino was excellent – it came with a sugar on a stick so as you stir it into the cappuccino, it melts!
Service: lunchtime was surprisingly crowded but servers were quite responsive. The server knew a lot about cappuccino and macchiato.
Decor: tables were neatly placed with neat and clean table cloths.
I hope to be able to return someday =).
What a beautiful restaurant with deliciously prepared food, professional wait staff and classy ambiance. It is such a treat to eat here. You are greeted by the manager and ushered to a table that is perfectly set with crisp and clean tablecloths. The servers are friendly and informative. They start you with homemade Italian bread and garlic bread sticks with a delectable dipping oil. My water glass was never empty!
The soups are delicious. Salads are large portions of fresh vegetables with a wide choice of toppings. Eggplant was light, perfect and cut super thin. Pasta was a perfect al dente.
Parking is in the lot behind or on the street and the location is on Seventh Street in beautiful Garden City.
Do not believe any of the bitter chiders or complainers. This restaurant is first rate!
This was my first time at Seventh Street Cafe. The food was delicious and service spectacular. I was at dinner with my parents, and I ordered the Popcorn Shrimp which was a special for appetizers (forgot to take a picture)… and the Veal Scallopini. Actually, we all ordered the Veal. I chose to swap out the vegetables for the spinach side, which was yummy.
This restaurant is right on Seventh Street (hence the name), and so centrally located. For a Saturday night, the place was packed, but this didn't impact the service. Our waiter was top notched.
Went there for lunch last week. Service was very good, restaurant was busy but not crowded. The atmosphere was very nice. Great selection of lunch specials especially the paninis and the prices were very reasonable. Looking forward to try them out for dinner.
Absolutely adore this place more and more. I was pleasantly surprised to see the owner was actually there taking orders and greeting the customers. We had a slight hiccup with an order and immediately the owner had the kitchen made it right hence. Yes there are better culinary delights in Manhattan, but for the price and quality, you can't get any better. As long as I'm visiting on Long Island, they will be an extension of my kitchen.
P.S. – I did read some other reviewer's less favorable comments, my suggestion is to speak up and ask for the manager or the owner and give them a chance to make it right. After all ANY restaurant can have an off day – we are mortals after all.
Came here for a bridal shower and expected the food to suck, but surprisingly it was really good!
Rigatoni with shrimp was amazing. Al dente, chewy, just the right texture. Sauce was perfect. Shrimps were tasty. Chicken francese was good too.
I can't speak for its regular menu, but I liked whatever I ate.
Came here for dinner on Mother's Day with my parents. It was easy to get a reservation for outdoor seating (located in front of the restaurant on the street) a few hours before, which was sweet. Outdoor seating: the way to a mom's heart.
The atmosphere is very European and sophisticated, but you could dress casually coming here. There's a certain flair that Seventh St Cafe has that nearby spots like Cafe Baci doesn't.
Mom ordered spaghetti, dad ordered Pollo Sette Colli, I ordered Sogliola Ai Faraglioni (filet of sole). I loved mine but the rice it came with was awful. Maybe I'm feeling superior because I'm Persian and we make the best rice in the world, but it was just bad quality. I wish I'd asked for extra veggies instead. Other than that, everything was great. We also got a cup of chocolate ice cream (YOLO). We left very happy. I can say Seventh St Café has got to be one of the best Long Island restaurants I've been to.
