I came here for dinner on a weeknight. It's pretty small but sitting at a booth was pretty comfortable. Not so sure I would have liked sitting at the tall (very small) tables.
I would definitely pass on the specialty drinks. Even though they were cheaper for happy hour- I didn't love the one I got. It had gin, avocado and a bunch of other unnecessary things that took up too much space in the small glass it was served in. I'd just go with wine, a mixed drink or beer if I went back.
Now the food was pretty tasty! My boyfriend ordered the Mac and cheese and loved it. Once again it was doing a little too much for me. Did you really have to put blue cheese in it?! But I know I'm in the minority of people who don't appreciate a lot of cheeses. Nevertheless, I could stomach it so they did a good job blending it. I ordered the Korean short rib burrito. It was really tasty and really filling (and given it was like $16 for a burrito-I would hope so!).
The service was really good and the whole place is decorated really nicely. I would definitely go back and try something different.
Ps. Don't expect your typical Mexican food. Definitely a Cali twist. Good but not traditional.
I would say it is a solid 3.5 stars-I'm going to update once I go back-need to get a better feel.
No one will believe you when you tell them to meet you at a place called Sexy Taco/Dirty Cash. Or think you are luring them into a seedy strip club. Trust me friends the name is just a fun name.
This small bar restaurant located in Central Harlem has one of the best happy hours around! Happy Hour until 3pm – 8pm M-F! $5 Margaritas! And the food is pretty decent too. Add in friendly and chill staff. Sexy Taco got the right stuff. Fortunately, my group arrived early on Friday afternoon to grab seats and of course start the weekend early. The place is not that big so it fills up quick and it's not a surprise with these drink specials.
My only complaint is I wish this place was a tad bigger because people tend to spent a couple hours enjoying the laid back scene. So I imagine it's a bummer when you can't grab a table or spot at the bar. Also sometimes drinks were mixed up but staff were quick to fix it with a smile. Very carefree atmosphere, casual place and good for conversations. Will definitely be back!
They ran put of frozen drinks. Sorry for 8:30 pm thats not acceptable. We order a starter it never comes out with the meal. The servers are all confused with who they are serving, bringing incorrect meals to seberal of the tables.
My food was cold and i was frankly dissapointed. The happy hour looks cheap and i see myself only returning to try that!
Alright here is the new Mexican hipster eatery, replacing the previous La Bodega 47, We enjoyed the super Nachos, the tacos with lamb Asado negro, it was tasty but it came plain with no onions, or cilantro or salsa. So I asked for salsa and some sour cream for my tacos, which took a while, and was charged $2.50 + tax!! for trying to flavor my tacos. Our server never mentioned they would be an additional cost for the salsa and onions, never came to check on us or asked if we needed another drink. Service was erratic and poor, only the boss boy was helpful.They were out of the guacamole also that night, so I could not try that one. Food B+, service : F ZERO.
Only tried the fried codfish and the asado negro (lamb) tacos – both were delicious but the Asado Negro was the best.
Wow! I was VERY surprise at the experience I had at Sexy Taco. I'll be honest, my expectations were low. I've passed by this place many times and wanted to give it a try. It's almost always crowded, but luckily for me and my gal pals, we went on at a slow hour. We weren't very hungry, so we ordered 3 jerk shrimp tacos and some nachos. Jerk shrimp tacos were SLAMMING! They were amazingly delicious!!!!!!!! The nachos were equally as good. The service was on par and the staff made sure we were comfortable and well fed. Sexy Taco is the jam, y'all.
