  1. Sometimes you just get a craving for a hot dog and when I saw the Shady Dawg truck, the craving hit.  The women working in the truck were very very nice and friendly as I pursued the menu.  I love the eclectic assorted of topping options.

I settled on the Frito dog that had chili, coleslaw, american cheese and fritos.  This was close to the "all the way" style typically served in North Carolina.  The toppings were piled on and I knew this thing was going to be a mess to eat.  It was also delicious.  The chili had a nice kick, the creamy cole slaw, and the salty fritos all worked well together (how could they not?).

I wish the hot dog itself had been a bit hotter and had more of a snap to the casing.  But those are minor things.  Many thanks to the ladies of Shady Dawg for taking a picture with my mother and I!

  2. Tried them for the first time on staycation in Manhattan this past week. Who loooooves hot dogs?!! ME. Who really loves it when people put a bunch of stuff on the hot dog and sells it on a cool food truck?!! ME!!!

I am usually all about Chicago style dogs. Split it, grill it and drag it through the garden (minus the peppers though…can't deal).

Ordered one Shady (should've gotten two) with a cream soda on the side (no black cherry! Boooooo). A+ for secret sauce toppings. C- for size of dog. Oh and C for the lack of clarity on where the hell to stand when ordering.

Had to inform one man he was not going to get his order taken where he was standing. His reply "well that's a hot mess!" Yes. It kind of is, cute guy. Buuuuut. I will give them another chance. Hell could have been an off day.
