Shake Shack

“My favorite thing to come from the Barclay Center plunking itself in the heart of Downtown BK is the opening of another Shake Shack.”

“The burgers are very flavorful and juicy, the fires are Kringle cut and very very crispy, their fries were voted top 5 best fries in the nation.”

“I got a single ShackBurger, which was a tasty combination of cheese, tender meat, and a soft bun.”

  1. Convenient location, tasty draft beer, fast service even there is game at Barclay's Center ( Bathroom wait is longer than the food for sure ), plenty of seating, well-managed station of sauces and napkins, etc.

A parking lot would be nice, took us half an hour to park around but it was Sunday and game day so came as no surprise.

A pitcher ShackMeister, 2 Shackburgers and 1 Dbl Shackburger for about $40. Everyone is full and happy 🙂

  2. The search is over, 'folks! We found a winner!! I finally made it to shake shack, for the first time in my life! (Surprising, right?) This totally lived up to the hype. I've heard so many great things about Shake Shake, but only came today because, hey, they expanded their menu after several years! Seriously, the best burger place I've been to in NY for a LONG TIME. I was searching for awhile now. I love the fact that they added vegetarian options!

    – Shroom Burger: delicious. DELICIOUS. I don't even like mushrooms. Generally, avoid them because they are never cooked right, and I just don't like them. However, they season the mushroom very well. The texture of the burger was splendid, it had the perfect amount of crispiness. The cheese adds a gooey, chewy, yummy texture. YUM.

    – Cheese Fries: BETTER THAN NATHAN'S!! I was surprised that it was so good! This is a step up to your average burger place fries. They are really good. The cheese isn't that generic cheese sauce…it actually tastes like cheese?! It had flavor!! And the fries itself were really tasty.

    – Vanilla milkshake: YES. This milkshake was just fantastic. Not overly sweet. Not melted, not too milky. Actually had a strong ice cream flavor without tasting like I was drinking ice cream. It had the perfect balance of creamy and smooth.

This will probably be my new burger place!

  3. Ahh, Shake Shack! This place often comes up when people are naming a great burger place, and I remember going to their original location in Madison Square Park and practically salivating at the thought of getting their burgers back in the day.

I recently tried this newer location while visiting Brooklyn, and per usual, this Shake Shack was busy.  I got a single ShackBurger, which was a tasty combination of cheese, tender meat, and a soft bun.  I also got one of their concretes, deciding to try their special flavor of the week: caramel pretzel.  To be honest, it tasted just like caramel and did not get what might be the pretzel flavor components.  Maybe it was overpowered by adding the chocolate toffee bits, but it seemed somewhat lackluster.

Which probably contributes to the sense that I have that while Shake Shack is great, it's a bit overhyped these days.  I'm definitely still a fan, I'm just not as devoted as the old days back when it was still novel.

  4. I rue the day I was introduced to Shake Shack. Here I was, just existing on regular food until someone decided to take me to Crack Burger central. I love the burgers (the one with cherry pepper is my jam) and nothing on the menu has been bad. I have tried the mushroom burger and the chicken sandwich, which were both great, but man, I just love those burgers.

This location has never had much of a line, but I always go late at night and not when there is any kind of event at Barclays, which probably saves me a lot of grief.

I don't think I will be able to pass a Shake Shack and not want to go in. I am glad it isn't in my neighborhood or I would be a diabetic heart attack personified.

  5. I mean, it's Shake Shack and what hasn't been said already?

5 stars to Yelp is, "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" And compared to other Shake Shacks, the service here was as good as it gets. The cashier's friendly and understanding smile was enough to warm our hearts from the cold wind chill outside.

The Roadside Shack (burger with grilled onions) we ordered, though. We were looking for something similar to In-N-Out's famous grilled onions and were disappointed. The grilled onions were pretty overwhelming. Shake Shack's cheese fries came through, as always though!!

  6. I saw a feature on the Shack sauce once on a foodie show but honestly have never heard of this franchise.

Thankfully the catchy name stuck in my head. During a back and forth and sometimes heated exchange on our inability to agree on where to eat in Brooklyn we stumbled upon of all places: The Shake Shack.  It was like the skies opened up and let the rays of light flood in!  Burgers and Fries – who doesn't agree with that!

We were able to walk right up to the counter on a busy Sunday afternoon and place our order.  The ordering process was as painful as our conversation outside with the cashier not understanding what we were saying and vice versa.  In the end she did screw things up after our credit card was charged but a manager assured me the credit would be reflected in a few days.

Our burgers came out perfectly medium rare, with fresh and colorful toppings and of course that Shack Sauce.  That stuff is crack!  I immediately got another cup to drown my fries in.  The fries, although obviously frozen were probably the best darn fast food fries I've ever had.  The only gripe I had was the potato roll was so soft for a burger so juicy.  A nice toasted bun would be the only improvement I could suggest.

During our meal several employees came around to ask if we needed anything – napkins, water, help navigating the subway.  Everyone was pleasant and seemed genuine in their interest to please you.  One young male stuck out to us the most as he chatted with us for several minutes and explained the difference between local/express trains – and even gave us a free burger for the journey!

I don't know when or if I will ever encounter another Shake Shack again in this lifetime but one thing is for sure – we'll be on the lookout for one!

  7. I went there to pick up some dinner one night. The burger was not fully cooked and I became sick after I ate the burger and fries. I make sure that I do not go to Shake Shack anymore….

  8. Disorganized chaos as with the other locations.  But can you really say no to the cheeseburgers here?  God, soooooo good.  The cheese just drips off, love it!
