  1. It's a small miracle that this place can make such good food for such low prices.  I love their dumplings.  They are big and flavorful, and you get 5 for less than $2.  Seriously, how is that possible?  They also make really good scallion pancakes for $1.25.  I had never had a scallion pancake before coming here.  I am definitely a fan.

The place is pretty deep into Brooklyn, but is only a block from the train, so its really easy to get to.  Worth the trip.

  2. Love it's greasy taste. After we stepped out the deli, and holded my bbf'a hand. Suddenly, he shouted "I was stolen!". This was the place my bbf lost his new iPhone 5S, which was stolen by a Chinese! The dumplings deli, like other place else, was cheap but yummy. It is well worth a try.

We got pretty mad. Be carefully guys. Some Chinese are famous for its excellent stealing skills. You should always hold your phones or put them into your bags. Never let your purses open, which create a great opportunity for them to steal.

  3. Ever on the search for the perfect dumpling, my husband and I trooped out to Sunset Pk on our way to Bay Ridge because we had a dumpling craving AND we wanted it quick.  While the location isn't a place to sit down and have a pleasant, leisurely snack (get yours to go and sit in the park I suggest), although the tables were packed the entire 20 minutes we waited for our to-go order….these dumplings were SO delicious.  Plenty of local families (both Mexican and Latin) packed this place one after the other.  The prices are beyond fair and overall, super satisfying.  Will definitely go back.

  4. The tasty greasy flavorful pork buns here are amazing. Almost soupy.

You'll be disappointed with the wontons, as they contain a really small amount of meat.

    But buns here are King.

  5. I decided to give this place a try after reading a fellow Yelpers ROTD.

People seem to rave about the Shanghai Pan Fried Buns. I must say I have to agree with reviews. For $2 you get 4 Shanghai Pan Fried Buns. Absolutely amazing!!! The buns were crispy, juicy, and packed with pork meat. When I took a bite out of each buns the juice squirted out. Mmm…Tastes even better with that side of vinegar. Delicious!!!

Shanghai Traditional Dumpling Inc. is a really tiny place and the staff are always constantly making fresh batches of dumplings. They also make congee, soups, rice, noodles, and soy bean milk.

Get the Shanghai Pan Fried Buns. Cheap!! Amazing!! Delicious!!

  6. My fave dumpling place in all of Brooklyn!*

My usual is an order of dumplings, scallion pancakes and a bubble tea from next door.

The dumplings are 5 for $1.75, I believe – they recently increased by 25 cents. You can easily get lunch here for $3. Their full meals with rice are delicious too and also cheap (about $6). I love their hot sauce!

*I might actually mean in all of NYC!

  7. Disgusting. Threw out half my food because it's barely edible. The food looks nothing like the pictures…first red flag (ie. dumplings have no chives, just a ball of meat). I've been here a few times before and it used to be so much better.

Hot and sour soup – weird light brownish color with very little fix-ins (looks nothing like the one in the picture), just tastes super vinegar-y. I only ate half of this. This is listed as $1.75.

Soy milk – I got a large (comes in small for 1.00, medium for 1.50, large for 2.00) because I figured they couldn't mess this up and it's only $2. Boy was I wrong. It's so diluted, it basically tastes like rice water. It even has the NYC tap-water taste to it.

Dumplings – this is probably the only decent thing here. No chives like in pictures, but at least it tastes decent. This is listed as $2.

What makes this place even more absurd is the shady service. The woman tallies up my order and goes $6. I'm like..isn't it supposed to be $5.75? She acts all surprised (I guess she didn't expect me to do my math) and stutters some bullshit about how the soy milk is now $2.50 and she actually gave me a discount for totaling it at $6. I look at her in disgust and just leave. I wish I had exact change, because then I'd just say forget it and leave with my money.

Please. Take your money down the block to Bo Ky…or really any other place in the mall.

  8. Absolutely delicious!!! Forget those cheap dumpling places in Chinatown. This place is the real deal!! While the price tag may seem pricier, the dumplings/buns are bigger than the ones in Chinatown and taste way better so that definitely makes up for it. The pan fried buns are their signature dish and cost $2 for 4. The meat is tasty, the bun is soft and filling, and the bottom has a slight crispiness to it! The dumplings are $2 for 6 and taste just as amazing. They both also come with this vinegar sauce that matched perfectly with the buns and dumplings! This is definitely one of my go-to places every time I visit the 8th Ave Chinatown. Check this place out! You won't regret it!
