“My absolute favorite to order is kalbi tang (best on the block) and my boyfriend loves to get the spicy version of this.”
“This is a quite a nice restaurant in ktown that was surprising wasn't as packed as BCD or Kunjip on a Friday night when we walked in.”
“I enjoyed the tofu seafood soup more and was not fond with the cold noodle, but still thinks this place deserves a 5 star rating!”

Pretty average place. Not great, but not bad either.
Atmosphere: One of the skinny long restaurants of K-Town. My BF and I decided on this place due to the variety of the food and pricing wasn't too bad comparatively. It was a quiet place, not many people were dining here. Decor was not memorable. There is an upstairs so the place is probably pretty big.
Food: Overall, not bad. I got the Dab Gol and my BF got the Bulgogi Rice Bowl. Both were not bad. Flavors was lacking a little bit…. needed to add lots of spicy sauce to bring something to the bowl. The appetizers were good, favorites were the pancakes and the beet I think? Others were just OK.
I didn't try the Korean BBQ but lots of people around me did and they all seemed to like it and everything looked very delicious. I'm sure the BBQ was very expensive though.
It's okay. I didn't find anything that particurlarly good to be honest in terms of the food. I do the space however. Banchans were okay. The beef didn't have much flavor. Maybe I'll try other meats next time.
Came here for dinner with my girlfriend and friends and this is said to have the best Korean cuisine in Manhattan KTown. It was very busy, so there was a tad bit of a wait. HOWEVER, just say you are leaving, and if the boss lady is there, she will seat you immediately. Neat little trick.
I got the Ox bone soup which was very delicious. It's a tad bit on the spicy side where i would say on a scale form 1-10 it was maybe a 7-8. So if you can't handle that spicy soup, then this may not be a good choice for you. The ox meat was very tender as it literally fell off the bone. You get 3 pieces so you will be absolutely satisfied. Great dish, and I will definitely get it again if I come back.
I was here for Sunday lunch with a group of 5 people. We had a good time.We had the BBQ and ordered Bulgoki , Kalbi, Chicken ,Pork and the seafood Pancake .It's served with a number of side dishes, which I will admit are a little on the small side.I could have done with more Kimchi ! Service was good and genial .We were a bit bumbling and probably confusing.Tried Korean Soju for the first time in a number of years and confirmed the fact that I don't actually like it.I basically drank beer. They have Sapporo on tap , which isn't bad.One thing i've noticed about Korean places , they tend to play really bad music.I could skip that but at least it wasn't ear splittingly loud.In sum , good place — and check out the neighborhood and go across the street to H Mart !
It's lunch time and we were in ktown and all the other restaurants were busy. We were hungry and didn't wanted to wait so decided dine here. We order shrimp fried rice, beef bibimbap in the hot stone, bolgulgi over rice in the hot stone. The food was decent. We've had better Korean food elsewhere which probably explains why this place is not that busy.
I do noticed from an earlier yelper that the restaurant rating was grade B. Well, that's been updated to grade A now and it's posted on their window. Trust me, it's the 1st thing I check when eating at NYC. The restaurant is small and clean. It's also hot because of the people doing the grilled bbq, which is what I really disliked as our clothes and hair smelled like food when leaving the place. There is only 1 bathroom with 1 toilet stall for all customer. Really? Also, there's no changing station for babies, not that I needed one (just noticed).
The staff was nice and friendly. We liked some of their side dishes such as their spicy tofu, Kim chi and stir fried soy sprouts with sesame oil.
I went here with a group of about 12 people. We had the Korean BBQ & some of us ordered additional food.
The mushroom soup was probably the best I've ever had. The broth was amazing and the mushrooms were still crisp, but without feeling under cooked.
The Korean BBQ was pretty good. I'd give it an 8/10. My only issue with the BBQ was that it was very overpriced for what it was. It should not have been that expensive for what we were provided. Call me a cheapskate, but I've had better for less.
Staff was nice enough. I think they were annoyed with us because we had loud drunks in our party, but they were accommodating and pleasant throughout our visit. Decor is unmemorable & feels more American bistro than Korean. If I came back, I'd definitely stick to the a la carte menu & save the BBQ for later.
I enjoyed my meal at Shilla the other day. Wasn't super impressed in terms of the price for what you're getting, but I did enjoy my meal here.
We got the bulgogi and short rib barbecue and the Japchae and seafood pancake as appetizers. The Japchae was good, texture and taste wise. Usually I loooove Japchae but I wasn't devouring it like usual. It was definitely good, but I've had better. The seafood pancake was also good, although I wish it had been slightly thinner and more crisp. Both of these came in good portions though, which was great. The bulgogi was surprisingly good – bulgogi tends to end up too dry for my taste, but here it wasn't so. I usually prefer kalbi though, and I would definitely recommend the short rib, as the meat is more tender – and you can take it off of the grill medium rare 😉
The Korean appetizers were alright – a bit too Americanized for my taste. They had some of the traditional stuff like the kimchi and such, but I found it strange that they served mashed potatoes.
The service was quick and efficient. We got our food and (later) the check quickly, and our server came back often to man the meat on the grill. We would have preferred to handle it ourselves, but she didn't seem to understand when we tried to say/signal that we could do it (language barrier). But she did a good job of it anyway, so it wasn't a big deal.
Nothing special about the ambiance – your typical Korean barbecue place. Noise level was a little louder than an average restaurant, but again, typical. Nice and spacious – loved that. Didn't feel too cramped up with other tables, and could actually talk without having to yell, despite the loud general buzz of people chatting and food cooking throughout the place. Korean barbecue places aren't usually very intimate because there is always someone coming to handle your food – but you could still have a nice conversation here.
There was no wait here on the weeknight that I came. It picked up a little bit in busyness later, but it was by no means packed like most places in Koreatown are. You could take this as a good thing or bad. Good that you don't have to wait, or bad because that could be a sign of something. Personally, I really enjoyed my meal, but I've also definitely had better and might not come back at the prices they charge (price took a lot from this).
– overall rating: 3.5
– my original review still stands but came for lunch with a coworker
– they gave us complimentary fried eggs because they didn't have what I wanted to order on the menu (bulgogi bibimbop hot stone bowl)
