  1. As much as I'd love to, I can't this deduct stars because of it's affinity for Philadelphia sports teams – they just need to hire a better decorator.  Say what you want about Philly sports "phans," but they're a loyal bunch; they have to be.

In terms of pubs, its a hangout bar with a great selection of draft beers, wine on tap, and good mixed drinks. Far from upscale, they deliver on the "divey" sports bar element that is not in abundance in New York's Financial District.

During my stop here, they had a DJ delivering music. It may be a great thing if you're looking for some loudly played jams, but not great if you're looking for a place where you can communicate without using your "outside voice."

The bartenders were attentive and polite and the experience is what I'd come to expect from a local sports venue.

  2. The cheesesteak here is legit and GOOD!!!!!

I order it seamless often (but only if Jersey Mikes is closed).

My friends and I often have a debate who makes the best cheesesteak.  And for me the ultimate cheesesteak would be the bread at shorty's and the chipotle meat at Jersey Mike.

The bread here is amazing and fresh.  The problem is the cheese in the cheesesteak melts into the meat and disappears in the sandwich, you can't even taste it.  Order extra cheese if you like cheese.

They have a steal of a happy hour, and the bar is nicely set up (not a dive bar).

  3. Best Phily cheesesteak I had in NYC. Delivery is reasonable and food always arrive in warm temperatures. If I want to indulge myself I would get the badass Italian/cheese fries with phily cheesesteak. The cheesesteak sandwich is perfect – cheesesteak (perfect ratio of meat and cheese) is melting in my mouth, the bread is soft outside and crisy inside….

  4. One of the best cheesesteaks I've had outside of Philadelphia, and I'm of course referring to a WHIZ WIT cheesesteak.  They also have an excellent draught list.

As far as atmosphere, Shorty's somehow recreates the feeling that you're in Philadelphia…  in FiDi.  I'll def be back if I'm in need of a cheesesteak and want to forego the 80 mile drive.

  5. I really only tried the philly cheese steak here, so I'm not sure if I'm fit to comment on anything else.

The Cheesesteak was definitely good, but I failed to see how thee bread was significantly different from other kinds of breads that I've had. The steak and the cheese were both decent, but nothing out of the ordinary. The real con here is the price- $12 for a cheesesteak? I understand that they have a lunch special which makes the deal seem a little more attractive, but I really don't think a sandwich should go for that much.

  6. Their Cheesesteaks are really delicious!

Tried their Buffalo Chicken Steak with Hot Buffalo Sauce and Ranch.. absolutely delicious! Portion-wise, it's actually perfect. Just 1 complaint.. at $12, they could've provided fries with your meal, but they expect you to pay $5 more fries. That's when the menu looks a bit expensive!

My colleague had their Pork Sandwich which he didn't really enjoy much.

  7. I want to say that I've tried their cheesesteak and it was amazing!  Their fries and nachos are amazing!  Especially with Margaritas, they get more fantastic by the minute! The waitress were amazing to us.  We had a whole section to ourselves for a get together for a friends birthday dinner.  The section had little stools to sit on and we sat around the tables that were there.  After they saw we were just downing Margaritas all night, they gave us a shot on the house!  If the food and drinks are great, that's a plus!  It's perfect location downtown, walk away from many other places, and so close to the water!  I want to stop by again sometime!

  8. I'm so glad I found this place near work!

Definitely a sports bar feel. There are five TVs on each side, in addition to one larger one near the front. There's a large bar and the seats consist of large bar stools. So chill in here that it's easy to lose track of time!

Just as you would expect from a place like this, the food is hearty, simple, and delicious. They have a lunch special until 3 PM – $14 for your choice of a cheesesteak, fries and a soda (+$2 for beer). The fries were double fried, so they're extra crispy even though it's a thicker cut. I got the Italian fries, which were recommended. I can see why! I almost regret putting ketchup on them towards the end – they really don't need it.
I got the American cheesesteak with cheez wiz (gotta go for the classic right?). At first I was skeptical, but then I really got into the heart of it and wow. The meat was still juicy and flavorful. The ends may not have too much meat on there, but the middle was packed! I could've done with more cheese, though. It came wrapped (why?) so a more cheese ended up on the wrapper than I would've liked.

Service was great. I was seated right away, and my order was taken as soon as I was done putting down the menu. The food took about 15 minutes to come out, and it was warm – the perfect temperature for eating right away. I was in and back in my office in an hour. Much appreciated!

The couple next to me ordered nachos. Ugh. Will be back soon.
