  1. I don't like to write negative comments for restaurants with good service, but I got sick eating here and hope that this comment will improve the quality of food served.

    I came here for lunch and ordered basil fried rice (with beef), which came with a side salad. I also had their Thai tea. It was surprisingly empty – they only had two other customers who came together. I quickly checked out their menu, ordered my food, ran back to the office, and started grubbin'. A few hours later, I was in the sick in the bathroom.

    Customer service was good – the young lady who took my order was very sweet and she even went out of her way to bring my food outside because I had a phone call to take. But overall, this place was not a good experience for me.

  2. 3.5. This is a solidly average Thai restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. Menu consists of all the standard Thai options, nothing surprising. I appreciated the $19 prie fix menu – combination of soup, appetizer, and entree. Though it sounds like a lot of food, the portions are all very reasonable, so I left feeling full but not uncomfortable.

    For my soup, I had the tom kha, which is essentially the standard sour tom yum soup mixed with coconut milk, thus adding a slightly sweeter flavor.

    For my appetizer, I chose the dumplings. This was my least favorite part of the meal. The dumpling filling was cold and didn't have much flavor. Even the salad on the side mixed with peanut sauce was more satisfying.

    For my entree, I ordered the yellow curry with chicken over rice. I really liked the spiciness of the curry, but I didn't have enough rice to soak up all the curry, so I unfortunately ended up with too much leftover sauce, which by itself was hard to eat given the spiciness. The chicken was cut up into small pieces so also soaked up the flavor very well.

    The restaurant ran out of mango sticky rice at 8 pm, what a huge bummer.

  3. In general, I think most Thai restaurants are either a 1 star, 4 star or 5 star.  There isn't much in between for me.  Most are 4 star, pretty good, and just like the rest.  

    If you're craving Thai food, this will do it – quite delicious, with all the essential dishes and correct flavors.  What makes Siri Thai stand out for me is they have additional specialty items which are quite authentic and I think are worth trying.  They're a little pricier, but this time around, we splurged for the Thai Herb Fish and it was absolutely amazing!

    Chive Pancake $5
    The Chive Pancake doesn't photograph too well, but is incredibly delicious.  For an appetizer to be $5 also is quite amazing, was very happy with this dish!

    Thai Fried Rice $10
    Personally I'm not a big fried rice fan, but kids love fried rice, and I was eating with a 2 year old, so I ordered this and it was a hit!  Pretty much what you would expect from Thai Fried Rice.  I don't know if I read the menu wrong, but I was surprised that there were pineapples in it.  Other than that, very good.

    Pad See Ew $10
    Pretty typical – good texture and flavor.  I ordered it with tofu, which was very good (I like how the tofu soaks up the flavors).

    Thai Herb Fish $17
    Like I said above, this was a little splurge, twice the price of other dishes, but I was really craving fish, and it was worth it.  The flavors were so delicious and reminds me of amazing Thai food I typically need to go out to Queens to get.  Filet Tilapia was nicely fried, tender, (if you like tilapia) just so much goodness!  I would most definitely order this dish again!

    Overall, very happy with my delivery experience – there are a lot of Thai Restaurants in Hell's Kitchen, I would have to say, currently, this is my favorite one because they can do what all other restaurants can, but they also have additional unique dishes to choose from.  I will definitely be ordering from here again and recommending this place to others.

  4. Mango curry is a must have. Fried rice was unbelievably bland. Actually, I wouldn't order anything else but the mango curry!!

  5. TL;DR: cheap and delicious.

    Environment: a pretty tiny, rectangular shop in Hell's Kitchen. Very basic and rarely packed.

    Food: solid Thai basics that are really cheap. Tofu curries, rice and noodles run around $10-11 and everything else starts at $12. The pineapple fried rice is great, as is the pad Thai and pad kee Mao. The mangos in the mango sticky rice (seasonal) are really fresh, but the sticky rice is a bit dry and the sweet sauce atop is actually strangely salty-sweet.

    Service: quick, prompt, and efficient.

I came to Siri Thai last night.  It's located not on 9th avenue in the low 50's… which is strange for Thai restaurants in Hell's Kitchen.  There were only a couple of other people in the restaurant on a Tuesday evening.  It was weird though, because another pair walked in and they seated them right next to us even though the rest of the restaurant was pretty much empty all night.  It was a fight to see who could talk louder.

    Decor is standard – nothing fancy.  Clean restaurant and bathrooms.

    Service was great – waiter was kind, patient, and didn't give off any bad vibes like some people do when they hate their jobs or something.

    Food:

    1. Calamari – not worth getting for $6.  I've never had calamari at a Thai restaurant, so I wanted to try it.  The batter was crispy but the squid was almost nonexistent.  It came with standard sweet chili sauce.

    2. Spicy Beef salad (larb) – delicious!  Loved the sauce – it was pungent and prepared correctly.  Wish there was more beef, but everything else was great.  I could eat this for days.

    3. Whole red snapper (steamed) with fresh spicy lime juice – great tangy and also pungent lime sauce that was slightly spicy (definitely not three chili signs).  The fish was cooked to absolute perfection and was fluffy and not tough.  Some of the best fish I've had in a long while.

    4. Crispy duck with basil sauce – not that spicy either.  Came with a lot of snow peas, onions, and peppers.  The duck was delicious and the skin was very crispy. It could have used more sauce on the bottom, but this kept the dish from becoming soggy.

    5.  Thai tea was a bit watered down, but it was refreshing as it didn't have half a carton of half and half dumped into it.

    Excellent meal for the most part.

  7. I ordered from their lunch special menu yesterday for pick up through Seamless web. I wanted to try a different Thai spot because Siri seems to have decent reviews. I ordered their Drunken Noodle with Spring Rolls. I got a call from them after placing my order. I was told that they didn't have the flat noodle so they asked if it would be okay to substitute the rice noodle instead. I hesitated at first because I did not believe that it would be the same without the flat noodle! I was having a bad day yesterday and I did not have the energy to be picky so I decided to agree to the rice noodle. I regretted it as soon as I took my first bite. It did NOT taste like drunken noodle at all. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that it was not the usual flat noodle, but noodle is noodle, right? How can the flavor be that much affected? It was a rundown version of Pad Kee Mao – weak and dull. I did not finish mine and threw it away.

    With so many options for Thai food in the area, I will get my fill elsewhere.

  8. Came back here knowing this spot has solid Thai food, and enough seating despite it being a small spot. Saturday mid-afternoon and they were able to accommodate 6 people no problem.

    For starters, got the Crispy Calamari ($7) and Steamed Veg Dumplings ($5). The calamari was more shredded than the normal rings you'd expect. Still solid with the sweet chili sauce provided. Veg dumpling was a little bland but fine with the same sauce. Proceeded to order off the lunch special menu – $10 got me a chicken spring roll starter, chicken tom kha soup, and a chicken pad kee mao (actually ordered pork for that, but oh well). All the food is solid if not very good. Spring rolls are thinner than I'd expect, but for the lunch deal, you get enough. Tom kha is a bit too sweet, yet that balanced out the spicy noodle dish I ordered.

    My original 3.5 star review stands. Service is fine and the food is enough to keep me full and satisfied at a reasonable price.
