Cool Name, Weak Place
The only reason this place is getting 2 stars is because of the awesome name. Went in and we were expecting this cool dive bar with friendly people. What we got was a dull atmosphere bar with slow unfriendly service and seriously overpriced drinks. 7 dollars for half flat Miller Lite draft????
With so many places to goto in the area, I can't see any appeal for this place.
Tip:
Go across the street and have some drinks at Down the Hatch bar. Much more atmosphere some of the best deals in the city.
Thanks
This place is downright spooky! The decor is intentionally ghoulish and should let you know right away that the Slaughtered Lamb is not a place that takes itself too seriously. Its a simple dive bar – order your beers at the bar or get a table. Out waitress was great at her job and very funny. Beers were about $7 a pop, but in Manahattan what can you do?
I will have no problem swinging by again for a couple brews.
I had been here YEARS and YEARS ago for a weekend lunch. Sat outside, got a good chili cheese burger, cool little themed place. Recently, I came back on a Friday night for drinks, and it felt like a completely different place.
Service (at the bar) was just okay, but the crowd and the atmosphere was a huge turnoff. I can't pinpoint exactly what it was, but I know I couldn't wait to finish my drink and move on. It wasn't terribly crowded on the barside by the entrance, but all the seats were filled, the bar space was taken up, so we were just awkwardly standing at the corner of the bar. One of the few parties standing. I just felt out of place. It didn't give me the "hey get some drinks and stay a while vibe." I'm really disappointed in the difference from my first experience. But hey, times change.
How does this place stay in business in this neighborhood?! This place is in desperate need of a BAR RESCUE. I had low expectations going in, but this place looks like it's been around a while, and I figured to stay in business in the West Village, I count probably count on at least a mediocre if overpriced burger. Nope. $56 for inedible wings, a meh burger that did not match the description (onions not sauteed, didn't taste any bacon or Buffalo mozz), a side of grocery store frozen onion rings, a flat beer (had to send back – they comped it), an $8 can of IPA and a cider. The cider was fine. So get the cider I guess.
We got here early on a Saturday (like 10pm) and left around midnight or a bit later, just as they amped the music to conversation killing levels. But before the volume turned up (and a lot more people came in), it was totally fine. We scored a table in the back and had lots of drinks and it was a fun wacky place to hang out.
Came here on a Thursday night with a group of friends to get the jello syringe shots. The decor of this place is really cool and spooky and I love the large wooden tables but they were so close together which was kinda annoying.
We each bought a jello syringe shot which the waitress gave us from her boobs which was really fun and different and we ended up getting 2 rounds haha. She put the end of the syringe in her boobs and i took the shot from the other end while she pushed down on it. I could barely taste any alcohol though but the flavor of the jello was very tropical and nice. Each jello syringe shot was $7.
The service here was so slow. My friend got up twice to flag down our waitress who still took forever to come. Reading the other reviews, it looks like this slow service is a problem.
Came into grab a few beers while watching some college football. It wasn't that crowded and we got a seat at the bar. Bartender, while not the friendliest, was attentive the entire time. Beer selection was about average but was fairly priced (everything on draft was $7). I didn't try the food but my friend had the hot wings and said they were good but incredibly hot. I bet this would be a fun place around Halloween to explore the theme a little more.
I've always enjoyed going to this pub. I've been about 5 times in my many visits to NY. Love the reference to Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde, plus all of the mannequins and what not everywhere is perfect. On a busier night the downstairs area is nice – waitresses come around with shots in big plastic syringes (but you don't get to keep them, boo). I pretty much go for the atmosphere – like any bar it's been hit and miss depending on the night. Definitely worth a stop by though if you're in the area. Service was always fine, but bartenders and waitresses were pretty much hired for their looks not their skills – be warned.
