  1. So good here! Their burgers are superb and I always pair mine with a chocolate/vanilla milkshake! The smash sauce is so addicting. I highly recommend trying this place out! You will not be disappointed!

  2. Finally tried this place and so glad I did! It was delicious! The concept is kind of like Bobby Flay's. You order, get a number, get a table and then they serve you. I ordered the Spinach, goat cheese, cucumber burger. It was so good. For a side, my friend and I shared the Buffalo Fries. They were good but not what I expected. It was more of a powder than a sauce on top of the fries which I sort of disliked. As for a drink, I ordered the Salted Caramel Milkshake. Hands down… one of the best milkshakes I ever tried. I would definitely come back here without a doubt! Good service overall as well.

  3. I have to say I'm pretty neutral about this place. I like to come here for an occasional chicken club. The food is not mind blowing, but it's not bad either. Customer service is great, but I did notice that the tables were not wiped down and we had to wipe down a booth before seating ourselves. There were a few dirty booths too.

My avocado on my chicken club was sliced but not spreaded out, maybe the cook was having an off day since they did lay out the pieces last time.

Also I'm not sure if this applies to all Smashburger restaurants, but this one opens at 10am, which is good if you happen to be hungry while servicing and waiting for your car at Pepboys.

  4. Literally the worst. Never have I ever gotten substandard food from here before. I got smash fries while my sister got the jalapeño burger. The smash fries had no seasoning on it. It was as if they were regular fries. I literally paid more for nothing. As for the burger, my sister threw it out after two bites because it tasted beyond nasty and was like rubber.

Frankly, I'm never coming to this smash burger ever again. I have never been so disappointed in food before.

  5. I was really, really, really excited to try the peppermint bark milkshake. I went to the counter and that was the first thing I said. The women at the counter said " OH NO" we are out. I was really sad when she said that. I mean come on its the holidays darn it. I don't know if she meant forever/ just today/ or this week. It doesn't matter, I quickly made the Oreo selection.

Ok, normally I would rate smash burger a five star, but they lost a star because of the milkshake and NOT having the limited edition flavor. It was an Oreo milkshake and they only make one size…….I know its not hard to make a milkshake, but no one makes a milkshake with that much milk. I was really sad when I got my order (we left the place already) otherwise I might have said something. I just put it in the freezer but it didn't thicken up, that is when I knew it was the milk (TOOO MUCH MILK).

The burger was delicious as always, but the fries were a little cold. I love the one in the city I feel like its always my favorite. I've only been to two other smash burgers and they have really set the HIGH standard. Overall I got my burger fix, but still craving a burger right now.

  6. Decent burger joint in the middle of fast food row on route 18 in the heart of East Brunswick.

CLASSIC SMASH™ is a grilled burger with american cheese, SMASH SAUCE, ketchup, lettuce, tomato , pickles and onion on an egg bun. The burger was cooked medium and was quite juicy and I can honestly say I enjoyed it. Now of course I wasn't blown away nor disappointed.

Veggie frites are a flash fried assortment of string beans, asparagus spears and carrot sticks lightly seasoned to a slightly crunchy consistency with dipping sauce. Definitely my favorite item and a fairly healthy deviation to the mondaine accompaniment of fries that we have become all to accustom to at burger joints.

I must have gotten there at good time because there was no wait at 11:50 a.m., but within 15 minutes after having sat down the line formed from register to the door. This of course would have taken away from my experience, thank you lady luck. They deliver the food to your table in or outside which is a nice touch being that everything is prepared fresh upon order.

Typical burger joint surroundings without a flat screen or ambience. Clean.

$7 for a sizeable juicy basic cheese burger at this pseudo fast food joint is still a lil too much $ for this guy. If you add extras with a side & a drink you'll be at $10 or more so there's no budgetary benefit.

I'll be back, but its not a place that I would go out of my way for. Then again I'm not the kind of guy that goes out of my way for a burger regularly without a bar.

  7. Smashburger is the real McDonald's. What I mean is, they actually bear a passing resemblance to the friendly service that is advertised by McDonald's, but never delivered. It's a refreshing change… though it really should be the norm, rather than the exception.

The burgers are excellent– juicy and flavorful and just the right size. You can order one of their special burgers, such as the truffle mushroom swiss burger (my favorite) or any one of several versions of the BLT (jalapeño, avocado, etc). And they have a New Jersey Burger– which I've had, but I don't recall offhand what was Jersey about it.

If you want just a regular burger and to moderate spending, you can do Build Your Own. It's definitely less expensive if you don't like cheese and get just regular  toppings (at this particular chain, it's 4.91). I think it may still be less expensive even if you get just one special topping. The special burgers are around 6 or 7 dollars.

The fries are just ok… they're a bit soggy and oily. I don't think it's wise to add those to your order. I think they have salads, but I don't think that they have a side salad. Or if they do, they should advertise that more prominently because I've never noticed it or had it suggested to me (it's always, do you want fries with that? Do you want a shake?). They also have a grilled chicken option, but in my opinion if you go to a burger place, you might as well just go ahead and order the burger.

They have an email list called the smashclub which sends the occasional $2 coupon and a free milkshake on your b-day (need to purchase an entree, though). They don't bombard you too frequently, which would've been an immediate unsubscribe for me– they sent one maybe around once a month. I tried it for several months, but unsubscribed because it was causing a persistent increase in my burger consuming behavior. For me, saving $2 is not worth becoming a fatty.

One complaint– they have a new promo where if you go to the website listed on your receipt and fill out their survey, you can get a code for free fries. No additional purchase necessary, so you can fill out the survey while you wait for your burger and then go right back through the line and get some fries. However,  the survey asks for your phone number, which you should NOT give them. I know this sounds obvious, but the way it's asked makes it looks like it's required, and it says some confusing things about a sweepstakes that momentarily plays on your hopes, all while reassuring you that they won't do anything with your information except to tell you that you won… I entered my actual phone number (my Google number). They immediately tell you that you didn't win and then give you the code for soggy fries.

I know that a lot of stores and promo surveys do tricky things like that to get your information, but just because it's common doesn't make it right. Just like it's not right for every fast-food cashier to have the energy of a dead fish. You'd think they'd know that…

  8. I always get the spicy baja grilled chicken burger with sweet potato fries and WOOO I love it!!! The shakes are pretty awesome also, but nothing too special. I'm not entirely sure if the other sandwiches are as good, but this is my go to combo whenever I'm here! My boyfriend tried their salads before- which btw, are HUGE, and really liked them also.

This particular Smashburger is not bad either. The staff were polite and the food came out quick, so no complaints about that.

P.S. The Smash fries are NOT good, I would skip and get the sweet potato fries instead.
