  1. Hands down. This is the best burger that I've ever had!! I got the "fashion avenue" with additional Jalapeños and fries on the sides!! Bun was perfect. The patty was perfectly cooked and the toppings were awesome. Same as the cheese. Everything just matched brilliantly together!

I will def be back here again!!

  2. I've been walking by this place for months ever since it opened and have been wanting to try it.

It looks a bit plain and not your typical burger spot, but they serve a mean burger.

We ordered the burger authority and also a spicy chicken sandwich.

The burger was huge, juicy and delicious.  The bun was also very soft and tasty.  I'd say that the burger is better than shake shack and even a better value since it's so big.  I think that the burger is on par with one of my favs in the east village Paul's da burger joint.  For around $11 you get a burger with garlic fries.  The fries are hand cut and fat.  Legit.

Some nights I walk by here and see how it's totally empty, but they really should be busier given how good the burger is.

The spicy chicken sandwich was okay. I say just go for the burgers if you come here.

  3. A very small establishment that would go unnoticed by many. I even walked by the place while looking for it. A name like Snax Spot, doesn't exactly spell burgers and sandwiches. The only way you'd know is if you carefully looked at the pre-made burger in the window display or happened to come across this place on Yelp. It is not made for a lot of people, with only 3 tables, each seating 4 people, and 2 flat screen TV's currently airing TNT on the opposite wall. A small table for the cash register is situated near the back with an open window peering into the kitchen. Credit cards are accepted, however AMEX is not. We decided to eat in, but noticed that the majority of 15-20 customers that came in, took their orders to go.

I decided to get the Basic Beef Burger Deal ($9.00) on a French Brioche bun with all toppings plus Smoked Gouda Cheese (+$1.00), Portobello Mushroom (+$0.75), and fries. The Basic Beef Burger is normally $6.00, but the Deal allows you to add fries, onion rings, or a salad for an extra $3.00, essentially saving you $1.00, since their normal price for fries is $4.00. You can opt for the Super Deal which includes the fries and a fountain soda/bottled water for an extra $4.00, or fries and a milk shake for an extra $6.00. In a few minutes from ordering, my burger was ready. Unfortunately, I only received some of the free toppings as listed on the menu: a piece or two of romaine lettuce, tomato slices, onions, ketchup, mayo, and the requested extras (gouda cheese and mushroom). I did not get the other free toppings: jalapenos, dill pickle, and sprouts. Next time around, I will make sure to specifically state each and every topping so none are accidentally excluded. I was glad to see two slices of smoked gouda cheese placed in the burger, however it was not melted, unlike my two other coworkers who got other types of cheeses and theirs was melted. I feel like if it were heated up just a bit, some of the aromas and nuttiness of the gouda will be brought out. The mushrooms were scant with only 3 very minuscule and thin slices of mushroom pressed on the bottom bun. I would have preferred to save my $0.75 and do without the mushrooms that barely added any flavor or texture. Beyond that, the burger was cooked perfectly to preference, medium-well in my case. It did not have a charred texture that I prefer, but had a lot of flavor, making for a very tender and tasty burger. My only gripe was that they put too much of the sauce, which my coworkers also complained about on their burgers, making for a very messy burger that slightly overpowered the great flavors of the meat and other ingredients. The Smoked Gouda cheese received high marks, with the subtle sweetness, smoky flavor and crumbly and semi-creamy texture. I would definitely go for the smoked gouda cheese again on my next visit.

The fries were perfectly seasoned and fresh, not your super-crispy variation, but more of a thicker fast-food fry that had a slight crisp, but more of a potatoey feel. I was expecting it to be crispier, as they touted them as being double fried, but was in no way disappointed by these Idaho Russet Burbank spuds.

Snax Spot, you are definitely on my list of regulars when I'm in the area. The burgers are fairly priced and flavors are there. Don't expect your generic Five Guys bland burger which only makes their burger good because of all the free toppings. I would not put this against fast-food joint burgers, as this burger definitely feels like it received that extra love and care that a smaller establishment / non-franchised place receives. The flavor and texture of the meat is where it all begins and I think Snax Spot is pretty close to being great!! There are a couple things that can use improvement: more slices of mushroom so that it is noticeable and I don't have to go digging through the burger to see if the mushrooms were forgotten, melt the gouda cheese, less sauce, and make a crispier fry. If these few minor things can be perfected, ladies and gents, I might have to add this place to my list of favorites for burgers. Regardless, expect to see me back soon as their burger and fries more than satisfied my palate and stomach at affordable prices.
