  1. While the name was Made in Taiwan, the portion size is quite American. Green tea had a nice texture (though it tasted more akin to reg shaved ice as it melted) and the flavor was pronounced but light as well.

Mochi was a little hard. Grass jelly was better than most other places. Condensed milk is condensed milk.

    Service was nice enough.

  2. Somewhat overhyped, but The black sesame and green tea are always a fave. Was not a fan of the overdrizzle on mine, but some people do like extra drizzle so I get it. Overall, pretty good experience.

  3. Been here a couple of times for dessert, bit it's been a while. So this place does shaved flavored snow and you can add toppings for 50 cents each. Some snow flavors included yeti tracks (cookies and cream & blueberry), sweet milk, sesame, green tea. Sometimes they have special flavors. Some toppings include different fruits, red bean, grass jelly, mochi, pocky sticks. You also can pick a drizzle such as condense milk, strawberry, chocolate, etc. The texture of the snow is really fluffy, soft, creamy and light. You can eat a whole bowl and after, you don't feel heavily stuffed. It feels like you didn't have anything at all. They have a regular, large and an even larger size to pick from and their spoons change color 🙂 They opened a branch in Forest Hills and Flushing in Queens. This is a great dessert for summer, esp if you are in the mood for something light and refreshing. There are a couple of tables to sit inside and some outdoor benches. They take credit card here also.

  4. Snowdays opened up a few months after I left New York, which is a real shame because god knows how often I would have frequented it if our times overlapped.

If you're have shaved snow (cf. shaved ice), nothing here will surprise you. The end product is solid if unspectacular. A regular ($6) is more than enough for one person, and even though toppings are $.50 each, you'll only need at most one or two. I got a green tea snow with condensed milk (sauces are free) and added red beans – I'm surprised Snowdays doesn't have a special featuring something along these lines, but it's not like their combos save you money or anything so it's not a problem.

My only gripe is that service is on the slow side. Let me say this isn't the dude working there's fault at all. He was working his butt off. But the problem is that they only have one guy working with one ice shaving machine, so if you're like me and get in line behind a family with multiple orders, you gon wait. Like a long time. I was in no hurry, and watching him do his thing made me appreciate my own dish more, but geez, someone's gotta help him out. A guy who got there after me gave up and left after watching for a few minutes.

Overall, it's not the best shaved snow I've ever had, but it sure hits the spot, the East Village location is decently convenient for folks who'd search out for it, but I sure hope they have some more help at busier hours!

  5. WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN. I'm pretty sure I've gained 5 pounds of pure snowdays, and by pretty sure, I mean definitely. I obviously tell everyone about snowdays and try to describe it. It's not ice cream, it's not sorbet, it's not froyo, it's not shaved ice, it's not gelato, IT'S JUST CRACK. In all seriousness, it's a flaky light weight cream shaved ice thing… That's really the best I can do. There have been a few too many times I've skipped dinner and just had a large cup of this nectar from the gods in its place. My personal all time favorite is the yeti tracks, which is a delicious and creamy blend of oreos and blueberries. I KNOW. Your brain will probably explode, but it doesn't end there cause your mouth will too. I personally like making my own cup rather than their pre-set ones, but either way, you win.

  6. Tried the vegan coconut shaved ice cream…..it was great! so light and tasty.  The texture of this ice cream is unique…it reminds me of an Indian dessert without the excess sugar.

  7. Great! Refreshing on a hot summer night like tonight. I will be back!!  But, really, it's nice all year long–because it is light!! Very refreshing in a nice & cold, fluffy sort of way, & I'll welcome that any day of the year.

Tonight, my first visit, I enjoyed a simple, regular size Yeti Tracks,  with a free "drizzle" of FRESH, Strawberry Purée.  The nice, patient ( no one was behind me) staff person told me "Yeti Tracks" was their cookies & cream. Ok! It was a light blue in appearance, & then I was told, oh, I forgot, we put some blueberries in to make it blue. Fine with me!!! It was great! Perfect tonight, because it's a hot, yucky/humid, summer night. I just saw the amazing, creative show–"illuminate" at Theatre 80 St. Marks, so, this is only a few blocks away & PERFECTLY REFRESHING. It hit the spot.

WORTH A VISIT: YES YES YES!!!
And if you're visiting NYC–Gotta try this!!!
Enjoy!  See my photo. Nice generous portion size! I was told regular equals a scoop. Looks like more to me!!  Cause it is shaved & fluffy & delightful!!
    Go for it, for sure!!

  8. I wanted bingsu. I thought I was getting bingsu, but it's snow cream. It has the sheet-like appearance of shaved ice, but tastes a lot richer and creamier. The servers place the frozen, flavored snow cream blocks into the spinning, shaving machine and voila, you get shaved snow cream.
$6 for a regular (smallest size) seems pricey, but they do load up the cup. In my opinion, a regular can easily be shared between two people. I don't need to know how large the Yeti size is. The portion sizes are reminiscent of how bingsu in S. Korea comes in huge bowls that are meant to be shared. Still, I wouldn't mind if they offered a smaller size for $4.
A drizzle is included in the price. Toppings and additional drizzles $0.50.
They have pre-set combinations as well.

I decided to keep it pretty simple with Roasted Black Sesame with Condensed Milk and it was delicious. Is it just me or does black sesame taste ever so slightly like peanut butter? The condensed milk added sweetness and more creaminess. I don't care for toppings, but maybe next time, I'll add some Nilla wafers…yum

We enjoyed our frozen treat in their bright, Yeti-themed space. With shaved snow cream, you get the best of both worlds between ice cream and shaved ice. There is the satisfying richness of ice cream, but the slight iciness makes it more refreshing and slightly less heavy than ice cream. Although the size of these things can end up feeling pretty heavy anyway.
