Cute store brimming with healthy eats options.
Prices are a little high but it is a small store so that is to be expected.
If I lived near by and couldn't get to the other options on Washington St. this would be a definite go to.
A great place for organic goods. This store is tiny but it seems to have almost every category of food items – produce, milk, yogurt, cereal, snacks, spices, oils, you name it. It's worth it to just mull around for awhile looking at all these organic labels (I'm not a huge organic person so when I do go to these organic places, it's like a whole other world for me).
Prices can be a little high because hey it's organic food but the labels they carry here seem to be pretty good. Just had organic milk from here and it was one of the best milks I've ever had! At home, I drank so much milk that I promptly fell asleep–this is coming from the girl who regularly throws out milk because she can't finish it!
Also, their apples looked delicious – I didn't buy any but you can just tell by their vibrant skins.
Owner is incredibly helpful and nice. If you don't see something out on the floor, they most likely have it in the back, so just ask. Prices are reasonable and a wide selection of natural, organic snacks, grocery, produce are available. They also sell a wide variety of organic meats, poultry, etc.
Sobseys is the best produce market I have ever shopped in by far. Whether in San Francisco, Chicago, Philly, Connecticut, you name it. They will inspire you by their dedication to find and offer the best of whatever it is you purchase. Trust me, you will not regret shopping there if you are willing to pay a bit more. For example, I purchased small heirloom tomatoes suggested by the attentive proprietor. They are among the best tomatoes I have ever eaten, comparable to the award winning Bay Area tomato farm tomatoes I ate long ago. But these are offered during the polar vortex in Hoboken, grown in a greenhouse farm in Maine. Its February: how can they taste so good? You could sit for a few seconds and just enjoy the delicious aroma of these tomatoes, esp. during frigid February. And I don't even really like tomatoes unless they are amazing like these ones, esp winter ones since most winter ones taste like soaked cardboard, with a similar texture and no aroma. But, what's crazy to me is that everything in the store is like this!! When you are depressed since it's snowed only fourteen times in the past two months, you're pissed off because your car was just towed last week, oh and your post-Sandy heating system doesn't work because the chimney was built incorrectly, and you are wondering what the Hell you are doing with your life living here esp in February, you feel like, oh yeah: it's because people here are warm, human, and awesome and the food here rocks….like at Sobseys. Yes, you can survive another month until Spring. Maybe.
They are so helpful and really know about everything in their store. Where it's from and it's the best around. The offerings are arranged in a three dimensional collage. Its like walking in a grocery museum: there's stuff packed everywhere. But it feels more cozy than claustrophobic. Yes, the food is more expensive, but it should be. You can't get heaven for nothing. It's the way everything should be made: with passion, great attention, and care. But almost nothing is made that way anymore. And you know it. But here is one of those gems and rare exceptions.
A gourmet / organic grocery store that covers a wider variety of quality foodstuffs than the average tiny mart on Washington, the owner here is usually more than willing to get you a case of something if you ask, albeit here you pay a premium.
There's a full selection of meats, produce, grains, and some jarred and only a few canned goods. Not really a place to find families purchasing groceries, but certainly can find plenty of yuppies here.
