Sofias Ristorante Italiano

“Sophia offers this up nicely, though I may skip the shrimp appetizer next time (delicious but overpriced at nearly $4.00 per shrimp).”

“So nice to have Franco join the team of excellent service here at Sofia.”

“After debating on going to Zio Toto or Sofia's for quite a while we decided on Sofia's and was very pleased with it.”

  2. We recently held my grandmothers party here, we rented out the back room and everyone was thoroughly impressed with the entire experience.
We were a party of 50, and had a 5 course meal not including dessert.
The antipasti plate was delicious, then the seafood
Platter was delicious containing shrimp , squid, clams and oyster. We then were served a pasta dish of our choosing, I had penne vodka, and a salad after that. For our entree we had several choices, I had the salmon and it was beautifully cooked and came in a timely manner.
We had a cake brought in from outside and they served it for us without charging an additional
    Fee for cake cutting.
The service really made the party exceptional. They were so attentive with refilling drinks and removing played and keeping up with the time constraints. Definitely my favorite Italian restaurant in Bayridge.

  3. On such a highly  commercialized holiday such as Valentine's Day, Sofia's was able to accommodate me and my husband without reservations and I am very grateful for that.  It was the coldest night of the year and we walked into three restaurants asking if there were any tables available. Most of them said all tables were booked or that we had to wait over an hour. Forget that.  We kept walking and scoping out until someone was willing to take us in without reservations. And Sofia's graciously took us in without hesitation and even gave us a seat by the window.  At first, I was  skeptical because it just seemed odd they had tables opened on such a popular night.  The restaurant wasn't particularly empty either so it couldn't be too bad. In fact, it was a  decent dining experience.  I particularly enjoyed the linguine in the seafood linguine because it was perfect al dente texture. The shrimp, however, was a little overcooked but the mussels and clams were good.  The dessert was excellent. Even though it was single digit degree weather outside, I was craving for ice cream and ice cream was indeed served.  Not served in scoops but almost in cake form, which was kind of interesting.  The service here is nice.  While it's not the best Italian food I've had, it's certainly not the worst.

  4. Solid Italian in Bay Ridge.

    Good service, not over bearing.

Nice seating and a lot of natural light toward the back.

    Enjoyed the special, Artichoke.  Nice.

Had the Penne Vodka which was in a very nice cream sauce, with seafood diced in, with a good selection of scallops and small shrimp.

For dessert a nice Ricotta bases, lumpy cheesecake and a cap.

    Overall, a nice experience.

They have a nice small bar in the entranceway with a TV hanging very close if you want to catch a game.

  5. Came here recently with a large party (reservation recommended ).  I had homemade pasta special which was delicious.   Zuppa di pesce was also good but the shrimp were added sparingly.  I also had baked clams, caprese and calamari appetizers.    The food was good but nothing overly special in my opinion.   I don't live in Brooklyn and wouldn't go out of my way to try this restaurant.  However, if I was in the neighborhood and friends suggested it, I would go back.

  6. We ate dinner there tonight with a friend who lives in Bay Ridge and we really liked it.  Our friend & I had the minestrone soup & the spinach ravioli, and my husband had the pasta bean soup & the cheese tortellinis with mushrooms.  The food was very good, the service was also very good (all of the servers were pleasant & sweet-natured), and the interior was very cozy & nicely-decorated for the holiday.  Prices were moderate, all things considered.

  7. The yummiest egg drop spinach soup! Despite everything tasting so fresh, so food did not take forever to arrive. Our waiter was very friendly as well.
This place was pretty packed on a Sunday night and I completely see why – good food, friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices!
