  1. It's the Chipotle of Indian food. A bit more expensive than chipotle but still worth it and nice to try something slightly different.

Their Chicken Tikka Masala is great, and make sure to try the coconut sauce and mango chutney.

I'd highly recommend checking this place out!

  2. 3.5 stars
I was intrigued by the reviews from the recent Yelp Event held here that I sadly missed so I had to come and try it! Wylie Dufresne took over the menu = extra intriguing!
(Shout out to Vivian H.'s for her always helpful reviews!)

We arrived at about 6pm so they go from
    Chipotle-style fast-dining for LUNCH
    to restaurant-style dining for DINNER.

Our server was very friendly and helpful.
    We tried the:

    _ PANEER w/SPINACH & COCONUT CURRY ($10)
= yum, comes with basmati rice

    _ [MINI] CHEESE DOSA ($8)
= small + not much flavor by itself,
         not much cheese at all,
         would not get it again

_ INDIAN FRIED CHICKEN TENDERS ($–)
= tasty, mango dipping sauce was like lassi!

_ Side of BASMATI RICE ($2)
= ordering a side of rice provided our group of 4 enough
rice – along w/the rice that comes w/the Paneer dish.

_ SOFT SERVE KULFI w/ROSE WATER SYRUP ($5)
      = Was overwhelmingly cardamom-flavored.
About half the amount of cardamom should be used
            to improve the flavor, IMHO.
         would not get it again

Would return to try their lunch again.

  3. While I'm still in the mode of feeling leery of Chipotle after its Listeria scare, figured I'd try this NYU haunt which is the Chipotle of Indian food.

Layout-wise, it's just that.  You go through the line and can pick ingredients to make a DIY bowl or sandwich.  You can also get a smaller size bowl if you choose, which is a nice touch.

The place was so deserted, though, that it might as well have been a Chipotle in the midst of its current crisis.  And the lack of crowds made me wonder how long the food on the line had been sitting out.  The place was also eerily silent without any music playing, which makes for a less than hospitable vibe.

Beef bowl was fine, but not something I'll be craving to return for.  Toasted-to-order naan was probably the highlight of the whole experience.

  4. Solid choice. You want Indian food, but you don't want the heavy sauces and calories? This is your place. It's modern and fun. Food is flavorful and well-thought out. Everything looks and tastes delicious. And you will not break the bank. Perfect for lunch or a weeknight dinner. And the mango lassi is a nice finisher.

  5. This place is essentially an indian version of chipotle. You can choose a sandwich, salad, or rice bowl as your base and then add veggies and curried meats and chutneys to your liking. I came here for a yelp event yesterday and was pleased with everything I tasted. The indian chips they had out at the beginning were delicious- super salty and crispy. I could have scarfed down so many more of these but I saved myself for the main entrees.

My favorite was the indian fried chicken- it comes with this awesome mango dipping sauce that is SO good. Do they sell that sauce by the bottle? If so, they should! I would buy it to take home and use in my own stir fry dishes. I also enjoyed the curried vegetable salad, mushroom dip with naan, and the masala meatballs. I had to leave the event early so unfortunately I did not get to try the rest of the items…but I based on what I had already tried I assume everything was good! The staff here is very kind and polite. Their location is near NYU, and I can see this becoming a great quick eating spot for students. I will definitely return when  I am in the east village / Soho area!

  6. Stopped here with the idea of a healthy lunch. It is a true indian version of chipotle. Salad with veggie and chutneys. Taste is overall average. I would prefer indikitch over this one. Ambience casual, staff courteous, service good.

  7. Had a great time at an event at Soho Tiffin. Their naan bread appetizer with cheese dosa was phenomenal! It might have been my favorite dish they served up.

Chicken tenders tasted pretty normal – actually about as normal as chicken tenders could possibly be. The difference came from the sauces they served up alongside the tenders – the spicy one was way better than the sweet dipping sauce.

Also huge fan of the masala meatballs – these were cooked to perfection and served with an ideal balance of quinoa.

Veggie burger was a tad on the 'mushy' side (although I had way over eaten at that point which likely impacted my taste buds once I got around to sampling the veggie burger).

Given I was at an event I didn't get a chance to see the prices so can't comment on food quality vs price expectation.

  8. Super late review (I think I visited 3 weeks ago?), but better late than never!

I'm a huge fan of Indian food, so when I learned about this place and the really reasonable price point, I knew I had to give it a try. As others have mentioned, it is pretty much an 'Indian Chipotle', which is great because you have the freedom to mix and match and make your meal however you want to!

I got a (large) brown lemon rice base and chicken masala (of course) as my meat. I also got the chickpea masala (cuz you know, that's my vegetarian jam) and tried the kale & cauliflower. Per their website, it looks like there's been changes recently to their menu; in addition to the Indian small plates, it looks like they changed the portioning and prices, because when I went a few weeks ago, I could choose up to three types of entrees (which you now have to pay additional for) in my large bowl (which is now the regular size?). Or maybe the lady behind the counter was just feeling extra nice.

You also get to choose as many toppings as you want! I went with the shredded carrots, the cucumber salad, and by that point my bowl was already filled to the brim. Just an FYI, their food is pretty spicy already – even without any additional spices/toppings. If you aren't a huge fan of spicy foods, it's probably a good idea to ask what is/is not spicy before you order.

For around $10, this was a really filling meal and could have actually been two meals for me if I hadn't been so hungry!
