Came here with a Groupon, which was no problem at all. No discrimination there. We ordered the fish and seafood ceviche, and a skirt steak platter. The ceviche was served with an extra shot of lemon juice concoction on the side for dipping and was a generous amount (not in a tiny martini cup). The steak was good, not great. The maduros, ceviche and rice were the highlights for me. Our waitress was a one man show-restaurant had about 7-8 tables and she was the only one walking around. She was great, would love to return!
A good Peruvian friend of mine told me that the food here was similar to home and that was enough for me to want to run over there right away! I didn't have enough Peruvian food while in Peru earlier this year and was aching for more!
Ever had Colombian food? Great food, even better portions ~
Peruvian is this – But BETTER!
You sit down and get a lil bowl of corn nuts to munch on.
We ordered 5 different dishes
(and I tried them all! Haha I'm such a little piggie):
PESCADO A LO MACHO
– BEST DISH! ($18 ~ Everything else was $11-15)
Sauteed Mussels, Calamari, Shrimp in a spicy "A La Crema" seafood sauce over fish, with some sliced fried potatoes, separate bowl of white rice
I had leftovers because this plate was so monstrous, my parents said it was one of the best thing's I ever brought back and asked why there were leftovers to begin with.
LOMO SALTADO
– 2nd Best Dish! It's just so mouthwatering delicious!
Tender Beef sauté with onions and tomatoes in a soy sauce
Served with French fries and white rice
BISTEK CON TALLARINES VERDES
– This steak was HUGE (It's not a steakhouse thick steak, it's served Peruvian style)
Steak, Served on Top of Spaghetti with Spinach-Basil Sauce and Parmesan Cheese
POLLO APANIZADO CON TALLARINES VERDES
– Wow, did they put the entire chicken on the plate? HUGE
Breaded Chicken, Served on Top of Spaghetti with Spinach-Basil Sauce and Parmesan Cheese
BISTEK CON TALLARINES A LA HUANCAINA
– Looking at this makes me drool
Steak, Served on Top of Boiled Potatoes with Special Cheese Sauce
Don't forget the SALSA A LA HUANCAINA
This is the magic Cheesy Sauce, it goes on Everything!
Oh! I almost forgot about the Pisco Sours! Excellent!
Check out my Pics – You'll be out of your seat and over there within seconds!
LOVE this place. Beats Pio Pio anyday and its a mom and pop feel. If you dont get here early on the weekend, expect a line. My go-to is the Roast Chicken. Its a Peruvian restaurant! I would feel as if I were cheating if I didnt order it! The ceviche and calamari is also great too.
This place has been one of my favorite Peruvian places to go to. The environment of the restaurant is nice and simple. Food is great and moderately priced. I've came here multiple times and each time the service has been great. The waiters are very welcoming to the customers and made sure I had a great dine in experience. Only con I would have to say about this place is parking is tough around the area. But if you get lucky to find a spot, definitely check this place out!
This was one of my first food adventure experiences in Queens, when my good friend moved to Jackson Heights around 4 years ago. It's a really cute and cozy place with friendly staff and excellent food — I highly recommend the papa rellena, the grilled veal heart, the tellerin verde, and the grilled honeycomb tripe… The ingredients are all really fresh and top notch… Honestly, I've never had better Peruvian food — it's easily, most definitely, head and shoulders above any of the many other places I've been in NYC.
