Randomly stopped by this place one weekend night and got a small order of jerk chicken for $5. Plenty of tasty jerk and barbeque sauce, chicken was pretty tender although not falling off the bone, and you're given a decent amount. Service was really nice though–I'd go again.
I come to BK for a friends birthday and on our way to the apartment the lovely aroma of jerk chicken was wafting through the air. It triggered so many good memories of great jerk chicken that I had to investigate Yelp to find the closest Caribbean spots. Yelp pointed out a couple spots nearby but with a name like the Jerk Center and a 4 star yelp rating, I mean you can't not go. Bright Jamaican colors mark the front and i could smell the deliciousness. They have a pretty simple menu, roti's for a a good price but my eyes were on the jerk. I ordered the large jerk chicken wing with rice & peas and cabbage. I noticed that she seemed to be giving me a lot of the wing tips but I brushed that off as just being extra tips and sauce. This place is cash only so bring your paper unless you plan on using the 99 cent in store atm.
I get back to the apartment and crack open my food to discover my eyes weren't lying to me. I had about 7 or 8 tips, 1 wing, and 1 leg. I repeat 7 or 8 tips covered in sauce with only 2 real pieces of chicken. I was highly disappoint. I don't know if this is normal for this location but my friend got 7-8 solid wings/legs so I can't say that seems to be the case. While everyone else was enjoying tasty jerk chicken, I'm left search for the tiniest slivers of meat in between skin, bone and cartilage. This could have been a great experience but I can't say I was very impressed. Everything else was good, sauce had good spice (not super spicy for those that are spicy sensitive), plantains were tasty along with the rice&peas and cabbage. I'm not anti-carb in any way but I am pro chicken and unfortunately this place didn't do much for me. Give it a try if you like jerk but make sure you follow the pro tip.
Service was fine.
*pro tip: Make sure you watch and ask specifically for the normal wings/legs that most places will give you and you'll be sure to have the satisfaction I was searching for.
