Sottocasa Pizzeria- Boerum Hill
“I've also had their Verdure and Quattro Stagioni (without the Italian Ham) and both were mouth watering and delicious.”
“I had the "Laura" and it was so good- fresh mozzerella, speck (the new love of my life), mascarpone and rosemary.”
“We are total pizza snobs, and my wife is a jedi-level pizza appraiser- having scoured New York, Rome, Chicago and Naples for the best.”

Zomg also: covered back patio, delicate lighting, a little bit of green peeking out from behind the panes of glass, same amazing food (see below) and ambiance. I hope this place is here forever!
Great pizza in Brooklyn not too far from the Barclay's center. The vibe inside is cute and rustic and the staff was very nice there and authentically Italian. I was there on the early side of a Saturday evening in advance of s concert, so it wasn't too crowded. There were families with kids there getting an early dinner and it seems like a great choice for a weekend meal.
One thing to note: this is not a slice place. You need to order a whole pie and they make it for you upon order.
Solid neapolitan pizza in a comfortable setting.
We ordered the prosciutto and mozzarella which was really good. Also had the diavola pizza was good, but certainly not super memorable. Just simple, good food.
REALLY good pizza spot. The vibe was very chill and psuedo romantic. They had a great menu with lots of fun Italian IPA beers and specials. We were here for the PIZZA though. The dough was nice and light and fluffy, their cheeses were all great, the ingredients were high quality. The staff was nice, never made you feel rushed but also were speedy.
High expectations for this place because of all the great reviews..ending up getting spongey wet pizza. All the toppings slid off and the crust was drenched with sauce.
We've been to Sottocasa twice and both times been underwhelmed. The IDEA of the pizzas on the menu are (is? – ah, noun agreement, you fail me) great, but in actual practice, they were pretty darn disappointing, both in sheer similarity and sad flaccidity. Mascarpone on a pie is always genius…wet, soppy, soggy crusts are not. From the margherita to the laura to whatever it was that I had with the sage and the prosciutto were all equally watery, floppy messes. The cheese skid off the pies and they were near impossible to enjoy, much less eat.
Call me lame but I also like to have a non-pizza option that appeals at a pizza place. An appetizer, a side…something that piques my interest and tantalizes the appetite. The options here were sad. A basic mesclun and other humdrum salads. No specials. Even the servers looked bored.
Alas, 2x not a charm means we aren't going to go back. Sottocasa is indeed the bottom of the house in our house.
Had a great experience here, the food, the service, and the atmosphere were amazing (my company of course made the meal unforgettable). Definitely a place to go in a group, if everyone orders something different (sharing is caring)it makes the meal and the place feel like home.
Yes, I am a fan of Sottocasa. This place is in our top 3 of pizzas. It is easy to get to being right on Atlantic Ave. You take a few steps down to the entrance, and it brings you to a cozy pizza joint. The staff are really friendly. The hub gets along great with staff as they are Italian.
The focaccia bread is a little thin and I am more accustomed to the thicker focaccia bread, but I was assured by the hub that it is also like this too. We really enjoyed the prosciutto & mozzarella that comes with a nice heap of arugula salad lightly dressed with a touch of lemon. They serve a burrata pizza fri-sun so we both got burrata pizzas. Mine with hot soppressata and hub with spec. They do not come with tomato sauce but with tomatoes. This is good for people that like white pizzas. The dough is just mouth watering good. All the dishes and pizzas are made of fresh ingredients. It just is done the right way here.
And… to make your meal even more memorable, their tiramisu is amazeballs good. Not too heavy on the coffee drenched ladyfingers and definitely big on the light mascarpone. SO SO freakin' good. You leave on cloud 9!
Great atmosphere with very nice staff and amazing pizza and tiramisu. It does not get any better!
