Spice Thai
“I can eat at this place everyday)))
My faves are: jade seafood dumplings, crispy belly salad, seafood fritters, garlic sautéed shrimp, pork chop, beef fried rice, drunk man's noodles.”
“Will definitely be back again, as this is the best Thai place in the 'hood.”
“I normally stick to the rice dishes like the basil fried rice and such because it's filling and flavorful; make sure you like spicy though because it does have a little kick to it.”

This is one of my favorite place to go to eat Thai food! I go here often with my daughter and a friend and I usually get spring rolls as an appetizer and either Chicken Pad Thai or chicken with rice for my entree. The Strawberry Lemonade is always wonderful. I have always has great experiences here and always like the candlelit environment at night.
I liked the open design of Spice. Everything is spread out and the dining area is spacious enough for large parties. We had a 2pm reservation for 9 people, ofcourse no one came on time but they seated us anyway. Our table was setup in the back of the dining room. Theres a small garden area back there as well that can fit about two tables. We ordered drinks while we waited for the rest of our party to come. The drinks were priced well, $9 for cocktails, strong and tasty. The waitresses were nice, they would come and check on us regularly but the actual service was so slow. Everytime we ordered drinks they took forever to come to the table. It was also a bit disappointing to discover we couldn't omit certain ingredients from dishes (like no egg in the pad thai). There were alot of choices on the lunch menu so everyone found sonething they liked. We ordered a variety of dishes and the food was delicious and full of flavor. The price point was great and the portions were just right. We all left their full.
I'd dine at Spice again if in the area
Rarely do i venture out to try new places for thai cuisine. This place confirms why i made that decision a long time ago. Against my better judgment, i decided to try this spice location because although i'd never been, at least it's a part of the spice chain. (my favorite locations are in nyc – namely chelsea & the east village) – going forward i will certainly stick to those locations ONLY. the day i went here the restaurant was completely empty on a sunday afternoon, that could be good or bad, it didn't really bother me. the prices are always beyond reasonable, so that wasn't my worry. however, my fear became a reality when my entree came. i ordered my usual, grilled honey duck. it was very underwhelming. the appetizer i always get, the jade seafood dumplings, exquisite as usual. i dont know how that could be ruined (and i dont want to find out). the inside is very nice, very clean….but the food, meh. i'll stick to the other locations in nyc. thanks but no thanks.
Lapin and I have visited the other Spice locations but we were craving Thai and were in the area. The place was a bit packed so we decided to order take out. The hostess was nice and allowed us to walk around while we waited for the food. Many other take out places, usually want you to pay before leaving the store after ordering. Our food came out hot and it was ready under 20 minutes.
We ordered the crispy spring rolls which were 3 rolls for $4 which a bit of a jip since they were small. Lapin ordered the calamari and got a huge serving. He didn't like the sauce and thought that the calamari was a bit too rubbery for his liking. Lapin ordered the Red Thunder fried rice and I got the Pad Thai fried rice. Both were good but we both favored the Red Thunder more. We would visit again but we might actually dine in the next time.
*3.5 stars to be exact*
I visited this Spice location back in July with my boyfriend and two friends for a birthday dinner. We made a reservation ahead of time for Friday at 7PM. Surprisingly when we arrived at 7PM the restaurant was quite empty and on a Friday night.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere and decor here because it had a nice, calm, and almost outdoorsy feeling and dim lighting. The service was alright, no complaints. The servers were pretty nice to us.
We started off with drinks and my boyfriend had the Thai Ice Tea, while I had the Strawberry Mojito. I liked that Spice offers different flavors for mojitos. I liked my strawberry mojito, it was light and refreshing – but didn't taste much alcohol in it, maybe they diluted it?
For appetizers we had the following –
– Crispy Spring Rolls (carrots, basil, cabbage, vermicelli and a lime-mustard sauce) – the spring rolls had a nice crisp crunch to it, but the taste was mediocre. I wished I got more of a basil taste to the spring rolls.
– Curry Puffs ( chicken, potatoes, onions with cucumber salad) – I've had this appetizer at many Thai restaurants before and some were good and some were bad. Spice's version of it wasn't really what I had anticipated to be. I felt like it was very hard to bite into and not as soft as the ones I've had before. Taste quality was about average.
– Chicken Skewers with peanut sauce – this was probably one of the better appetizers we had. The chicken was grilled to perfection, moist, and tender. The peanut sauce was very rich, buttery, and creamy and just went really well with the chicken skewers
For entrees my boyfriend and I had the following –
Drunk man noodles with beef – my boyfriend had this entree and boy, did it look like a mess on a plate. The rims of the plate were clean and crisp, but the entree itself didn't look too appealing and as for the taste, it was mediocre.
Shrimp Pad Thai – thankfully my dish looked a lot better and neater than my boyfriend's dish. In my opinion, this wasn't the best Pad Thai I've ever had. It felt very sweet and not enough tanginess in it and it also was a little watery which wasn't a very good sign to see.
I honestly feel the atmosphere and decor is 3x better than the quality of food we had. The food just didn't feel up to par and didn't taste nearly as good as some of the Thai food I've had.
LOVE THIS PLACE.
SERVICE
I like thai food and this place are recommended. We walked in and were immediately seated. They were pretty attentive but the waitress was not too thrilled when I asked for napkins- she gave me only one.
FOOD
Amazing! For appetizers we got the spring rolls and the chicken wings. They were both really good especially the chicken wings; they were in some kind of sauces- one a little spicy but absolutely delicious.
I ordered pineapple fried rice- I usually just get chicken but here it comes with chicken, shrimp, and squid. I ordered this without the squid and it was delicious. The way they cook their phone is really good and well balanced. My boyfriend ordered something called the big bang and it was a huge dish with chicken and huge shrimp- i tried a small portion and it was full of great flavor. Their food is amazing.
DRINKS
Strong drinks for sure. We only got one drink a strawberry guava martini and it was definitely worth it. I also ordered the strawberry pink lemonade- the strawberries at the bottom were really good.
DEFINITELY recommend people trying this place.
Spice is your typical Thai restaurant chain in NYC. The food is always the same, fairly priced and a decent portion size. My typical go to place when craving Asian food for lunch, the lunch special is a nice deal as you get an appetizer and beverage with your entree. I normally stick to the rice dishes like the basil fried rice and such because it's filling and flavorful; make sure you like spicy though because it does have a little kick to it.
The bar at this location is friendly and spacious. They over a variety of drink choices from fresh juices to your standard bar options. Try a cocktail off the drink menu. They're all pretty good.
Just like the other Spices around the city the food is always good and consistent. This was my first time to this location. It was a little further out the way than the one in Park Slope but the decor of this one is way better. The restaurant actually has a little personality. There is also a small garden that fits a few tables.
