My office ordered lunch from there yesterday, and I got Pad Thai. Not that it's my favorite or anything, but I feel it's a good benchmark to test a Thai place out. They all make it, and you'll learn a lot about the subtleties of a place by getting something that's easily comparable.
What killed it for me was that it was just so… dry. Not much taste. Not much going on at all. It was nice that the shrimps had been cleaned and de-tailed (or whatever) but that does not make a dish. Why is it so hard to find decent Thai in midtown?
Also to note, I think they changed their name to "Big Bowl" or something like that. I guess the republic was overthrown…
Meh. Color me unimpressed.
