St Mark’s Market

“Their grocery selection is excellent, well-stocked with many organic brands that you won't find at a bodega, and they've got a deli as well.”

“This place is a bit pricey for a starving artist…but the foods are so pretty and fresh that I tend to splurge here.”

“other pluses:
– super friendly cashiers
– big and sturdy plastic bags (sometimes i flaunt those mint green bags as i return home: "Yeah, man, i went to St. Mark's Market, and you should too.")”

  1. Grocery that opens 24 hours, wish I have something like this closer to where I live. The produce are reasonably priced, but it's kinda hard finding stuffs in their grocery aisles. Nevertheless, the prepared food section always have delicious stuffs.

  2. I live in NJ, and for the longest time, I couldn't find this particular brand of chocolate, until one day I stumbled upon this cute market.  Lo and behold, I found it!  So, for a long time, this was my go-to spot for my secret weakness: Kinder chocolate, from Germany.  Kinder is this brand of amazing chocolate, and they have at least three kinds of Kinder chocolate in the front, right by the cash registers.  These chocolates have some kind of milk substance in them, and some of them are crunchy too with some wafers inside of them.  So.  Good.  And this market reliably has them every time I pass by St. Mark's Place.

Plus, they take credit-card, no minimum, which is a blessing since I know a lot of these smaller markets are more stringent about their credit card policies.  But it doesn't matter since I'm blowing at least $20 on chocolate every time I come to St. Mark's Market.

    Plus it's open 24/7.

There are a lot of Japanese snacks in the back (like those candies and gummies), in addition to deli meats, fresh produce, dry goods, etc.  What a delightful place.  If I lived closer to this street I may just rely on it for weekly shopping trips, but I don't, so for now I just use this as my chocolate haven.

  3. Convenient location and not crowded. That's the biggest thumbs up!
They have all the staples from East to West, and they have many organic products for daily use as well.

Certain things such as fresh vegetables are slightly more expensive, but that's expected. St Marks serves as one of those perfect supplementary grocery stores for me.

  4. I. LOVE. THIS. PLACE.
As a vegetarian… I was blown away. OK maybe not that much but I was so excited! A co-worker brought me here and OMG I will be back. They have so much of the same veg items deli's carry as well as Whole Foods but cheaper AND closer to the office so as much as I want to add the steps to my pedometer, they get an A+.

I got a vegetarian wrap (also vegan) for $5.50 – YES can you believe it and I picked up some chips for $1.19 to boot! I took a loop around the place and was eyeing all my next purchases. They had 2 tall refrigerated sections fully stocked w/ veg and vegan stuff.

Cookies, snacks, chips, juices, fresh produce, etc. I may need to come by and pick a few things up for home. MmmMm ! The only thing that bugged me is how long I waited to get eats here?!? Where have i been…

  5. Nice, little grocery shop in the heart of Saint Marks Place. I've been here a few times and there's a lot of neat food here with Japanese snacks, organic snacks, tea, drinks, and a lot more.

Prices are reasonable. Good customer service. Super convenient too.

  6. This litte deli is very useful.
We live in front and they are always very kind and helpful.
I love buying my mangos over there always very tasty 🙂

  7. Great price point and their in-house sandwiches are pretty decent, if you're hungry and on the go.

  8. Best deli in the area! They have the most fresh food ever! They carry a great variety of unusual food and brands. I LOVE their soups. I religiously used to get their chicken soup . They also have the best breaded chicken cutlet. I used to get it on a roll with avacado, american cheese and lettuce…It was just Soooo good..The cashiers are all really friendly, good people..Super huge variety of vegan, gluten free and organic food!
