I ordered a grilled cheese with bacon from seamlessweb. It came in literally 10 minutes. I couldn't believe how quick it was. I'm only 2 blocks away but the estimated delivery time was 30-40 minutes and it was in the middle of Friday lunch rush so I was very happy!!
The grilled cheese was simple but perfectly melted and the bacon was extra crispy just like I asked. It wasn't overpriced either. I will be ordering from here again and again!
Has anyone else almost tripped or lost their footing on that ramp as you walk in? I don't come here often so I always forget about that ramp.
Stage Star blends in with the area as a typical midtown deli. It doesn't stand out nor will I have cravings for Stage Star randomly. But it serves a purpose – it's consistent, it's good food, and the prices are reasonable. Overall, an excellent option when you've become tired of going to other places in the area.
I haven't tried the salad bar, although I heard it was decent. I usually go for a sandwich or get something from their hot food section. Their hot food section reminds me of something that I can get from a somewhat better-than-average college cafeteria. But they are efficient in their service and will get you in and out in just a few minutes.
My only complaint would be the line, or lack thereof. People are just hovering everywhere not sure who ordered and who is next to order.
Not bad for the food however, the price is a little expensive. I've bought delivery here for the past week and tried out different food. The rice and salmon was good! Also had the shrimp and chicken over rice, tasted like Chinese fried rice. The rice was a little hard. Overall, the food was good for lunch.
Extremely good prices, good food. Deluxe burgers are juicy and prepared just right as it's freshly made in front of you. It comes with French fries and chips with soda for approx. $6.50 which is reasonable in Midtown Manhattan for lunch/dinner. During breakfast, lunch and dinner traffic gets crowded in such a small deli as I would patronize this deli often during my odd lunch hour of 4pm to 5pm. I don't believe this deli serves kosher.
It desperately needs TLC with the decor and floor with a long haul renovation.
My coworkers have been talking about the quesadillas at this place, so I finally came here today. The portion was huge, and I couldn't finish it. When I was looking for someone to give the left overs to, people actually "fought" over it. Was it good? Yeah… The flavor was good, and I liked it, but somehow I was just not a big fan of the texture of the bread. I felt like I've had better.
Detroit has its Bread Basket and New York has its Stage! This deli is the place to go for huge corn beef sandwiches and short wait times for preparation. Whenever I'm in town, I have to stop by this deli. Conveniently located in the theater district, the Stage Deli is a must-eat!
From work I am conveniently located on the same block as Star Stage Deli; this place is reasonably priced from everything that's located around here in Midtown. I come in on occasions for their English muffin breakfast sandwiches and their lunch specials.
Nothing special and to die for here but it's close and low priced. Their dishes are also larger than life and they have pretty good coffee, don't ask for a regular cup of Joe. You will get more sugar and milk than anything else, get it black and customize it as you like your coffee.
Staff is friendly and take care of everyone fast with exceptional service, even though I only started working around here for less than a month the ladies at the cash register already made it a point to know me.
I have been working across the street from SSD for about 6 years. I went in for the first time a few months after I started working in the area. I swore I'd never go back. It just felt…..grungy chaos.
I changed companies, and became an assistant to a team of folks who swear by the place. So I had no choice but to not only return, but do so on the regular.
Turns out, I'm glad this happened.
I don't know if it was me growing older, them shaping up, or a combination thereof. But they're really not so bad right now. If you're in the area, and are down for a cheap (for the area), filling, fast, hole-in-the-wall deal, this place really fits the ticket. They seem to have streamlined the order/creation/check out process, the register ladies are like liquid lightning now, the customer service is better, they have a few scant tables, or you can come across the street for public outdoor seating, and, if you know what to get, you can get a steal. Like this morning: I bought an omelet with three fillings, hash browns, toast, and a very large coffee for $6.47! Lunch has good options. You just need to know what to get to fit your budget.
Give them a try or two or three. You might love it the first time. If not, it's worth giving them another try or two. You might not like them at all. But it's worth the try.
