The old check in here was deleted but I digress. This place is a gem! 1) BYOB 2) great prices 3)HUGE portions 4) delicious everything! 5) great service. One of the very best Greek places I've been to. Must try!!
Opaaa for your mouth! Stamna is Greek food done right.
Located in an unassuming white house in Little Falls, Stamna truly feels like you are dining with family. The restaurant is small, but has plenty of seating. However, keep in mind that you may be rubbing elbows with the couple next to you. The store is decorated with Greek flags and pictures of Greece; it's quaint. There also a really nice outdoor seating area that is open year round (in winter months it's tented). The restaurant has a cozy feel to it, and feels like home.
The staff is really kind and willing to answer questions about menu items (despite my poor pronunciation). The service was quick and very friendly.
The food is AMAZING! The authenticity of Stamna's food can't be matched. From the Kalamata olives, to the tzatziki, to the lamb, it truly feels like you are dining in Athens. I started the meal with tirokafteri, a spicy feta cheese and olive oil combination. The spread, which was served with freshly baked pita, was smooth and creamy, and had a fiery finish. Next I ordered the lamb gyro and the tyropitakia. The lamb gyro was out of this world and a must order! The meat was juicy and succulent. The tzatziki sauce that was in the gyro enhanced the sandwich's flavor profile. Hands down this was the best gyro that I have ever eaten. The tirokafteri, a filo dough, cheese and spinach pie, was very good. The filo dough was nice and crisp; it gave the pie a great texture. The cheese and spinach combination balanced one another brilliantly.
Stamna's is a sure bet especially if you are looking for a great place to eat in Little Falls. Stamna has great service, amazing food, gigantic portions and reasonable prices. I am a fan and will be back for more!
This joint is pretty stellar not just for a Greek restaurant, but in general for the 07424 area.
You go in, and it feels like someone's home (because the outside and inside looks like a house, and it's attached to Rita's Ice in the same house lol). The staff is pretty polite and courteous, and very attentive. They made great recommendations for me when I was ordering for the first time.
Their food is very genuine and true to Greek cuisine, but still palatable & delicate enough for the uncultured or unseasoned American palate! Try the Greek burger. Trust me, it's lit.
Try them if you're ever in Little Falls. They've got a private parking lot in the back, so that's a major plus.
The food is excellent and it is probably the best value in the area. I order take out from Stamna once or twice a month, and every time it arrives, I wonder why I don't order it once or twice a week. Highly recommended.
This place is one of the few restaurants that deliver to me so we order from here once in a while. The food is solid but nothing to go crazy about. I have had the chicken souvlaki, lemon soup, hummas and the Stamna Thalassina seafood platter. The seafood is very fresh so I would recommend it and their Greek fries are good as well. I really do not like their hummas. It has more of lemon taste. Overall they have good service and fast delivery with decent food.
Mmmm… Greek food. This place is super family friendly and able to seat pretty large groups. Because it's not exactly a building, but in the first floor of what looks like it used to be a house converted to a restaurant, ice cream parlor next door (sadly, seasonal), and a practicing law firm above, there's a lot of room. The porch has been converted to a seating area, which is where we sat.
We ordered the Greek burger (no buns!) and Greek fries (yay for cheese), taramasalata, and a chicken gyro platter (which comes with a Greek salad, pita bread, and a choice of a carb like rice, lemon potato, or fries). Each plate was everything big, everything Greek (if anyone gets that reference). Super large plate, a heapful of meat and even taramasalata. I felt like the chicken lacked a bit of flavor, but the tzatziki seriously was delicious (dill and cucumber with yogurt sauce is so refreshing).
Stamna Taverna was a great experience – plus the decor is beautiful! The tables are covered with a map of Greece and everything is white and mediterranean blue.
I love this place. I've been to Stamna now once for lunch and once for dinner. First off, get the Lemon Potatoes as your side! For lunch I had the stuffed chicken breast. The portion was pretty impressive for lunch and the chicken was very tasty. For dinner, yesterday, we started with the roasted eggplant dip and the spinach feta pies. The eggplant dip was a little oily for me but still absolutely delicious. Spinach pies were hot, flaky and fresh! I had the stuffed calamari for entree which was actually quiet delicious. The atmosphere on the outside closed in patio is always very charming. I'd advise to check this location out. It's also BYOB! Kudos Stamna Taverna!
This place is consistently EH…
I LITERALLY LIVE 8-10 HOUSES BEHIND THIS PLACE.
Just wanted to state that fact in order to justify why I've probably been here like 30 times since its conception. Mostly in the Summer.
I feel like i'm insane because even though I come back from this place saying to myself, "Wow that was just OK" I always end up visiting again for more feta cheese covered pricey dishes.
The main things I've gathered from coming here are that the dishes served are pretty mediocre. They serve food that you must be in the mood for. I don't want to bash the place because some items, fish dishes mostly, are pretty good. I just do not believe that a piece of chicken with crumbled feta, a slice of tomato, and olive is worth 17 dollars!
I just don't think the place lives up to the hype and other outstanding reviews.
