Amazing food and service! I highly recommend. Best breakfast and lunch-
Stan'z is the perfect spot for lunch. This place reminds me of a European cafe; very casual, lively atmosphere, and serving fresh and simple food. It's just eggs, salads, and sandwiches, but they execute things very well and their ingredients seem to be top notch. One exception is the coffee, which is flat tasting and quite average. Still, great choice for Larchmont.
We need more places in the area like Stanz. It's probably my favorite lunch spot. Lots of people like their salads, but I'll never order them because their sandwiches are SOOO GOOOD! I always get them on a French baguette, unless they've run out in which case I cry a little and order it on a wedge.
The ham and Brie is amazing. They use really great meats and cheeses on their sandwiches. Getting hungry just writing about it!!
I need more places like this in my life – what a great find! Some of my friends go here occasionally and spoke highly of it, I was in Larchmont to get my car serviced so I thought it would be a good opportunity to try Stan'z for breakfast.
The ambiance of the cafe has a very relaxed, casual feel. As we walked in we were greeted by a large counter with the menu on the wall in back of it. We placed our order and then had a seat in the dining area. The beverages are self-serve, there's a fridge with juices and other soft drinks near the counter and a coffee station in the dining area. There was a crepe station as well but it was not being used while I was there. It wasn't too crowded but I can imagine it being super busy on the weekends.
The menu had a good selection of breakfast items, the classics are there plus some unique offerings. I went with the goat cheese and bacon omelette which came with arugula and side of home fries (though you can opt for fruit as a side instead). My dish was tasty and fresh – they didn't skimp on any of the fillings which is refreshing. My brothers were with me and said their dishes were delicious as well.
I'm so glad I discovered Stan'z – definitely a place I would come back to.
Stanz is a sandwich&salad breakfast-lunch joint in Larchmont. I loooooove their Manor salad. Fresh grilled chicken breasts, caramelized onions, melting goat cheese, and fresh bed of greens and avocado. It's simply the best chicken salad I've ever had! The service is friendly, but not the fastest (especially with the clean-up after the customers left). The waitress seems to get lost with which order belongs to what table at times. Still, a solid lunch spot especially recommended for those afternoons where you just want to grab some quick but substantial healthy lunch, or a sit-down lunch with your friends.
On the run again for (what I thought was going to be great experience) Hot Chocolate. I was actually working in the area and stumble on Stan'z Café. It is very charming Café from the exterior alone. And quite honestly, it's the only establishment of its kind, that pops with an interesting allure on the block.
When in, you place your order at the front of the house and pay. Then a server will bring your order to the table. Right there, you'll also have the flat top where hash browns are sizzling away, and pastries. I wanted to feed my headache out of all things, with a Hot Chocolate.
Interior is way cuter: brick walls, magical stars, antique brass chandeliers and tables that are slabs of wood. Gorgeous. Energy in Stan'z is very lively and everyone seems happy to be here. It's a good thing…..
My Hot Chocolate was brought over to me, and it had the foam on top, which added a nice umph to it. And I simply couldn't wait to taste. However, with one sip and I instantly knew it was not unsweetened Dutch cocoa, instead it was from one of those prepackaged envelopes!
I really hate to say this, but I will…. I do have my "favorites" when it boils down to where I go to and how my decadent Hot Chocolate is prepared, but I also don't want to be biased, but only to mention my experience.
Staff was amazingly helpful-throughout. Layout was funky for the neighborhood and I'm sure that menu items are extremely fresh. However, the substandard ventilation system, honestly didn't whisk all that bacon smell that was lingering all over the café and all over me ;-(. And worse, when I got into my car, my clothes and hair smelled like bacon. So not happy.
In all fairness, Stan'z comes across as a really nice café and I'm only basing my review on what I experienced in that short moment. I'm most certain that Stan'z Café will perhaps outshine in other areas. Truthfully, I wanted to support it, but because my Hot Chocolate was not prepared with Dutch Unsweetened Cocoa and bacon hovering all over me from head to toe (which I dislike highly), for those reasons, I'm out.
Fantastic sandwiches and omelettes and fresh baked bread. Definitely a sandwich place for those of you who consider yourselves to be a foodie, but you can find some simpler things for those who arent.
Only thing to be aware of are the waits. If you think you will be in and out during your lunch hour, unless you work at a place that allows you to run over the hour, dont try it. Weekend brunches are lovely, just expect to wait for a table.
I think the idea here is great, but the follow-through could use some work. The coffee was kind of gross. The gluten-free pancakes were oddly sour-tasting, like they were half baking soda (not that I would judge an entire restaurant solely on the quality of a single gluten-free item). I think this place could use a bit more attention to detail, is all.
