Starbucks

“I applaud the Starbucks family for generously donating their enormous wealth to realize such an ambitious charitable cause: free public bathrooms in NYC.”

“I love this place and even though there are 2 other starbucks between Madison and 5th on my way to class (I go to the CUNY Graduate Center at 365 Fifth Ave.), I will choose this one every time.”

  1. Your typical Starbucks with plenty of seating and offerings.  The service was a bit slow but overall a good location.  I noticed they offer quick charges for your phone for a fee.  This is something new for us out of towners.  Pretty cool.

  2. As a real starbucks addict, I'm a bit critical of my starbucks locations…and I like this starbucks. I don't love it, but i Iike it. The staff is nice, not so patient or helpful, but they are nice enough- I think they just concentrate on getting the customers in and out which isn't a bad thing. This location is also pretty clean but really, it's so awkwardly shaped (very long and narrow) that you have to balance your drinks and pray not to bump into anyone with them. There are lot of people sitting in here and doing work which makes it more crowded plus it's next to a boutique hotel which draws a crowd at all times. It's a decent starbucks, but there is a much bigger and less crowded, but a little slower and mediocre staff around the block on Madison. I wouldn't avoid this one, but it's not my favorite. Good location to run through if it's not THAT crowded and you are rushing.

  3. good Starbucks, nothing special except it is by my school so its convenient.

  4. Definitely another staple place on our free trip to NYC!  This location was a block away from our hotel and on the way to the subway.  Every morning, I would come by, get either an Americano or a Latte and a quick bite.  Just your standard Starbucks but some things to note.  New York locations use La Boulange pastries and other bites.  Originally from the Bay Area, La Boulange offers a little taste of France!  It was so delish!!

What I really like about this Starbucks and other food joints in the city is the "on-the-go" table mentality.  There are high tip tables lining the front window.  It's an efficient way to grab your items, eat quickly and go on your way.  It was kind of hard to accept at first.  People on the street literally pass by and have the opportunity to get up in your business and watch what you're eating.  After the first day, though, I didn't mind it at all.  That's the wonderful thing about NYC.  People don't care.  I loved it.

Convenient location for Herald Square and efficient staff.  Definitely worth coming back to day after day!

  5. I have been to plenty of Starbucks in my day. This one is pretty large with lots of seating. Customer service is okay. There aren't many outlets and the AC is on (it's late January and 32 degrees outside). They definitely don't want you hanging in here but when you're so close to the hustle of Manhattan it's gonna happen so please stop making us miserable and cold.

They are starting a thing where they charge you for a portable charger for your phone and seem to be slowly covering the outlets throughout the store. Uhh, you guys are playing serious games.

Coming from Philly, everything in the display is smaller than at home. Bagels are tiny, cookies are small. Everything is subpar. My fingers are freezing while writing this.

  6. The service here is awful!! I stopped in with 2 friends on a Saturday afternoon to grab a coffee. I had to tell the cashier 3 times what I wanted, the entire process with her took 3 minutes (not that it's a long time in a larger sense, but more that it should literally take like 45s to place a drink order and swipe your card when not busy.) She kept turning around to talk to someone else and not hearing me and then pressing the wrong buttons…

A while after my 2 friend's drinks came out  I asked the barista where mine was. The crappy cashier had never told him my order! On top of that, my friend was given the incorrect drink because the cashier told him wrongly. He made my drink immediately and re-did hers. While he apologized, she did not, and it doesn't make up for the fact that they shouldn't have someone that incompetent working the register to begin with. As for the coffee itself, it was your standard cappuccino, not bad, just usual.

  7. This location gets 4 stars because of 2 reasons. They have a quick efficient staff to get you in and out and they have 2 bathrooms if you are going to to be hanging around for a while.

  8. This is one of the better cleaner NY starbucks. The service is prompt,  at least in the afternoons and the drinks generally come out correctly.

The barristas are friendly and helpful.

Since starbucks are the public bathrooms of NYC, it should be noted that this particular location only has two toilets.

This location is fairly roomy and has tables and seating.
