The hubs and I had to take a few minutes to refuel, so we stopped by this Starbucks before we went on our way. I had their Strawberry Acai Refresher, which was made with passion fruit, acai, and green coffee extract – it was made extremely well! The beverage was super refreshing, had not much ice but still super cold, and had a great balance between all of the ingredients. In addition, there were plenty of strawberry slices within. There's limited seating, as most come here to do some work. I highly suggest in avoiding the restroom, as it is unisex and extremely filthy!
+Strawberry Acai Refresher, properly made! 😀
One of the better Starbucks locations that I have been to on the UES, and it's also one of the largest. Open and airy with plenty of space to stretch out in. Lots of spots to sit at from tables and chairs, a large communal table, metal stools by the window counters, and even comfy padded leather chairs to kick back in. It even looks like they put some design element into this one with art on the walls, brick walls, nice lighting, and even a drop wooden ceiling suspended above the communal table.
Friendly baristas, nice music, and clean bathrooms going on when I was here. Full arsenal of coffee products and items for sale as with all Starbucks. Had no problems getting my coffee, finding a seat, and charging my phone while surfing the net for a bit. Even though I was here during early morning prime time hours it really wasn't too crowded, and the wifi hogs had not taken over every available seat. Maybe it's because this location is all the way over on 1st Ave and kind of hidden away over there.
this spacious starbucks is no different than any other starbucks you've ever been into. They have a cozy seating area and a wrap-around bar seating area along the windows. Depending on the day or the hour the baristas are friendly. I have been there when it appeared the last place the baristas wanted to be was at work, but generally, I leave smiling. They have great food selections and the coffee is, well, as you'd expect.
Why does it take so long to order at this location? Very disappointing because it's a great location with plenty of space inside to hang out
This is a pretty large location with lots of tables and seating along the windows so you can people watch while working. There is free wifi for 2 hours a day that you can access if you buy a gift card, add money to a gift card or buy something with a gift card once a month. Something to that effect.
New York requires chains to list the calories in each of their products. It's educational and rather horrifying. I generally only drink black coffee or americanos but if I knew my beverage had over 400 calories, I think I would just say no. But then again, who knows?
So, why am I reviewing a Starbucks? Because WS has reviewed more Starbucks than anyone else I know and it's almost her birthday. Here's to another year big on meaningful conversations, plans, vino (red only), travel and mischief but light on conflict, neurosis, mundaneness and bad life decisions. Happy birthday, chubi!
This is actually quite a good Starbucks.
WORTH NOTING:
One of the few Starbucks stores with a Clover machine. Clover machines are awesome. They cost about $20,000, or at least they used to, until Starbucks bought the company. SO, if you want Clover coffee, it's Starbucks or nothin.
Clover is worth it, though – they have single origin beans here, and I think they'll also do it iced, though it's not cold-brewed. So that might be a waste.
