Fast service even during rush hour. Order was correct and the staff was friendly- pleasantly surprised even though the line was long to get in the door.
Well, I'm not a regular here, but the one time I did stop in, I got stellar service. This place is bustling, so I can understand if their baristas might be a little less than friendly; however, I had a great experience. The wait seemed a little long, but I'm not sure if it was due to the number of staff, but you could tell the baristas were doing their best to keep the line going. I had walked about 50 city blocks from another Starbucks to enjoy a blustery cold NY day, and by the time I reached this one, my Grande-sized hot tea had been emptied, and I was in dire need of a refill. I was fully ready to pay for my refill of plain old hot water with my used tea bag in cup. When I asked for a hot water refill, the barista looked surprise, took my cup and asked me, "Just hot water?" She then asked me what kind of Starbucks tea bag I had, to which I responded, "Green Tea Zen." I expected her to just refill it with hot water, but to my surprise, she threw my cup away, grabbed a new one, added a tea bag, then handed it to me. She gave it to me for free! I was so flabbergasted with her generosity that I could only walk away blubbering my thanks. It was only when I was outside when I realized she had given me a Venti, instead of the Grande that I walked in with. That totally made my day, and I can only wish good karma upon that sweet barista. Thank you to whoever you are!
I'm here quite a bit. The staff is good as they struggle to cope with a never ending line and in the end, they do a commendable job.
It's a fairly grimy branch, which always seems to be in need of a clean. The tables are sticky, the floors tend to collect napkins and assorted junk, and the milk and sugar area is always a sopping mess.
I also want to note that there are typically a few homeless guys here, hogging the tables for hours on end, so much so that I'm getting to know their faces. Kind of sucks in such a limited seating situation.
I really like Starbucks. Usually it's a pleasant experience. I come here out of pure convenience but it's the worst location that I've patronized.
The employees are very unfriendly. They are usually engaged in their own conversations and have a complete disinterest in their job. On Thanksgiving they didn't have eggnog and skim milk for the coffee and didn't care. Also they soaked the floor as they mopped around customers (safety concern?).
I'll still return out of convenience but I mentally prepare for the lack of service and possibility that they will be out of a lot.
Overall, not a bad Bux. Ample seating, outlets and a restroom. Sometimes, like all Buxes, they run out of supplies. Today it was Cold Brew and and Sweet n' Low. Who even uses Sweet n' Low anymore? When the lady complained about it, I was like, "Grandma?!" Because she was not only looking for SnL but also complaining to service personnel.
It's good to know which Buxes have restrooms and this is one of them.
I'm not sure how the powers that be (i.e. the normally business savvy Starbucks gods) can allow this Starbucks to operate as poorly as it does. There is always a line and the people behind the counter have zero interest in providing a good experience or moving customers through at any reasonable pace. They usually hide in the back or openly turn their backs and socialize with each other while the line stalls and builds up. On several occasions I've watched the cashier and barista argue with each about who was to blame for the wrong drink order. The barista always wins- she's a bully. At the other starbucks I often visit (75th bway/73rd Columbus/grand central station/48th and park) there is a genuine effort to expedite customers and provide great service. But not this place – its the pits. So why do I go back??? I park my car in that building and like to take a coffee with me when I pick up my car. However, when I spot a really long line I make my way to the deli across the street and spare myself the torture. Starbucks gods: seriously?
