Staubitz Market Meats
“They charged me 99 cents a lb which was less that Los Paisanos was trying to charge at $1.49.”
“The narrow space is packed to the ceiling with pastas, condiments, specialty preserved goods.”
“I was worried I wouldn't be able to find everything I wanted (cue the wanting meat jokes) but they actually have a lot more available than you can see in the display cases.”

They have anything and everything meat-related. Not just the tasty flesh itself; I was actually particularly impressed by the back wall. They appear to have every sort of sauce, spice, marinade, mustard or anything else you could possibly want to add flavor to the meat on the other side.
However, although I can appreciate the history given that Staubitz has been there for over 100 years…that evidently means prices have been rising for that long as well.

As I was writing this review, I asked the two girls I was with for something good to write about meat shops.
The first instantly lowered her voice and said, "MEEEAAAATTT."
The second responded, "SAUUUUSSAAGEEEEE."
Those are some smart girls.
Good
On meats
But fewer
Sausages than
Paisanos. Lots of sauces for small shop.
This is a fantastic old school butcher shop located in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. Looking for a special cut, or don't know how to butterfly your chops properly? The extremely friendly staff will be more than happy to help. They deliver as well.
What a great butcher shop. it's hard to find a better spread of beef. The marbled beef is drool-worthy. I didn't see a porterhouse in the display case, so I asked one of the guys if they had any in back. They went to the back, and pulled out the biggest slab of beef I've ever seen. Then they asked me how thick, and cut a 1" slab for me. It was one of the nicest cuts of meat I've had. Definitely coming back for more.
I love living in a neighborhood where historic, gourmet places like Staubitz thrive.
This charming little butcher shop/market sells high-quality and often imported oils, meats, cheeses, pastas, and more. So, essentially all my favorite foods.
I will say that I prefer Paisanos, a butcher just a few blocks away, because of price point and ambiance. But Staubitz is still a neighborhood staple!
