Guess this could be called the White Manna of burgers (not sliders). It's a greasy spoon, tons of character for a place that's only been open a few years.
The patty melt was delicious. Very greasy but a lot of flavor in the loosely packed beef patty. The rye gave it great texture. I'd come back, not too often though. It's pretty indulgent.
One evening at work, I had an insatiable craving for a burger. I didn't want Wendy's, but something new and fresh. I searched on Yelp for burgers in my area and this wonderful place showed up. I checked the photos out and my eyes were drawn to the patty melt posted by Mick. In person, it was every bit as greasy and sloppy as it looked….and absolutely delicious!
My only complaint is that they aren't open a little later, they close up at 8:00 PM! :'(
The hours caused me to knock a star off of my initial review but I no longer see a point in restricting this location from it's true rating. I am still in the infancy of my yelp and burger-eating career, but as it stands this is the BEST BURGER I have eaten in NJ.
Always looking for big fat juicy burgers and Steve's burger delivered a juicy cheeseburger today.
I don't know what it is with me but I like big bites when it comes to burgers so I added mushrooms, fried onions , bacon and fried egg. Every bite was pleasing but I have to say I wasn't blown away. Perhaps because my palate is used to bigger (larger than 1/4lb) gourmet burgers.
This place is definitely worth coming for the fresh cut fries! The vanilla and chocolate milkshakes were better than ok but less than amazing. Cordial service. Outdoor seating- appreciate that. Cash only- bummer.
Went here with an $8 Groupon for 2 burger meals. Like a lot of Groupons, it didn't specify what was included. When we got there, we learned it meant two cheeseburgers with no toppings (except cheese of course), two fries and a bottle of water or can of soda. Still not bad, but naturally, we wanted toppings and shakes so we still owed $10 out of pocket after the Groupon.
Outdoor seating is nice, but not when you're sitting no more than 5 feet from Route 46 and Jersey drivers and blowing right past you. This time, no one was distracted by my shake but I may not be so lucky next time.
Overall, I liked the fries and shake better than the burger itself. The serving sizes on the burgers are about 1/3 lb., and despite being somewhat thin, they weren't overcooked. Just right. I'd go back if I were in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way. Still, the prices are pretty cheap so it's worth a shot.
Thank You Yelpers, this place lived up to everything that has been said. Small place, cool outside seating and the food is great!!! Had a cheeseburger with fried onions and fries…..Delish…The burger was made to perfection. Juicy and medium well …wow….Not to mention the prices just make every bite that much more enjoyable.
Solid solid small place that puts out great fast food. The burgers are nice and fresh and served which ever way you prefer. The fries are awesome and also just as fresh as the burger. The hot dogs are nothing spectacular but they absolutely hit the spot if your craving one. Prices are super affordable and service is great! No reason to dice down 46 and go to Wendys when you have this gem up the strert.
Solid burger and hot dog joint. The burger was pretty good I probably give it a 6.5 or 7. Nothing out of this world but a solid tasty greesey American burger. The French fries were very good, old fashioned cut and crispy. I like that they did not use salt on the fries and you can add as you like. The beer battered onion rings were amazing, the onion did not just come out when you bit into them (you know what I am talking about). I will definitely go back when I am feeling something greesey
What can I say about this place that probably already hasn't been said? Small quiet place and a very homey feel. The customer service was amazing. We were a dollar and fifty cents short for a milkshake (cash only), and he didn't mind. We split a Philly cheese steak, and it's honestly the best I've had in the area. The cheese burger was greasy and delicious. The milkshakes were great and of perfect consistency. All things considered, this Steve's became my favorite local burger spot.
