Usually when I Yelp a restaurant I focus on the actual product the restaurant is offering me, sometimes an amazing restaurant has one server who is having an off day and you get that person. That is not the restaurants fault, and should be looked over. However this is not the case with stone park cafe. I've dined there about 5 times over the past few months and every time the service is atrocious.
Each time we waited well over 10 minutes for a waiter to show up and ask us if we would like a beverage.
Three of the past times the waiter did not even mention the specials, we had to ask
Usually during a nice meal one like to lounge, enjoy a cocktail, appetizer then a meal. However that is not what stone park cafe has in mind. They allow you one cocktail per meal, the waiter will show up take your full order, disappear until it's delivered, disappear until you're finish, show up again and ask if you need anything else. No matter if you spent your entire meal wishing you had another glass of wine (Happened), more water (Happened) , they've forgotten a side (happened) or the meal was prepared completely wrong (happened multiple times!)
Looking past the atrocious service, SPC has decent food. If you catch them on a good night. Each time I come I usually get the same dish, the mushroom pasta and my date gets the Arctic char. EVERY TIME these dishes have been prepared differently. The mushroom pasta comes with pine nuts, if I ask for them to be left off them are most definitely on. We still can not figure out how the Arctic char is actually served because sometimes the sauce is on the side, unless you've made a special request for it on the side, in which case it's served over the char.
I wish this restaurant was better, I do. It's convenient and (occasionally) delicious. But like a bad relationship you have to know when to call it quits.
Came here because it had really good reviews for a brunch place in Brooklyn.
The service here was ok. We had to keep asking for stuff and the waitress at one point rolled her eyes. (That's not our fault we have to keep asking)
We ordered fries for the table and that came out like when we were half way done eating, so pointless to order fries at that point.
I got the fried oyster with an omelet and it was ok. Nothing exceptional. My friends got the Cobb salad and they said that was really good.
Overall, I'd say it's meh. There's way better brunch places in Brooklyn.
Nothing special about this place. My friend and I didn't have to wait because we sat by the bar but it's not a brunch spot I would wait or come back for. The woman by the bar was really nice and friendly, quite entertaining too. She gave us a sample of what they use to make Bloody Mary, which taste to me like cocktail sauce. It was very nice of her but the food was just not that memorable.
Yay, I'm truly a fan of them! lol
It's packed for the brunch, but the wait wasn't long coz we agreed to take the seats under the sun without any shade, 5 mins later we were both regret! hahaha
The servers are nice, we asked to change seats and got seat inside immediately. Lucky and Thanks!
My bf ordered burger and Bloody Mary, (typical American, isn't he? haha), I ordered quesadilla with fresh orange. The food was incredible, burger was really juicy and taste, the meat just well grilled, as to a quesadilla fan myself, I love it a lot. The wrap was crispy, not the as the regular one we normally have, with egg, jack cheese and good amount of heat from jalapeno, heeaven in my mouth~ ;D
We got our drinks kinda late while we half done with our food, we had to remind our waitress that they forgot our drinks. But totally understandable since it's a packed Sunday.
I would give 5 stars if it isn't the Bloody Mary was really bad. It's really bitter, and unbearable spicy hot! My bf had to ask more tomato juice to mix it in, but still over spicy. The girl sat next to me couldn't stop cough and in tears coz of that.
Anyway, it is a must, definitely would go back!
I had been meaning to try stone park cafe for a while. I went on a Saturday at about 1:30 for brunch. It was a 20 minute wait so my boyfriend and I ordered bloody Mary's at the bar while we waited. The bloody Mary's here were delicious. We sat relatively quickly. I loved the brunch menu. There were so many great options, I wish I could have sampled everything. My boyfriend ordered the short rib hash with eggs over easy. The short rib hash was amazing!! I had the eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon. The English muffin was homemade. It was simply delicious. I ordered a side of bacon and it was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend ordered a side of pancakes and they were delicious. The fruit on top was great and the pancakes weren't overly sweet. We ordered the chocolate brioche for dessert. It had caramel ice cream on top. All I can say is OMG. The chocolate cake was warm and it mixed so well with the cold caramel ice cream. The service at stone park was spot on, despite how busy they were. Our dessert took longer than expected, so they gave us the dessert on the house, which was really very nice and unnecessary. Stone park cafe was amazing and I cannot wait to return!
The grilled chicken sandwich hit the spot for lunch. Loved the bread, chicken wasn't too dry and yummy avocados inside.
It comes with a side of french fries, soup or salad.
Soup of the day was a corn bisque type which was what I got. It's bloody 90 degrees outside and I get hot soup..lol.
Soup had moderate flavor, it was light. I didn't quite like the look. It honestly looked like yellow paint when I opened the container. I ordered it to go. Maybe the restaurant it would have been presented better in a nice bowl.
But at home, in those little plastic to go container..it had little to no visual appeal.
A few drops of corn would be a good addition as well. The plain paint-yellowness of it made it look blah.
I took a chance and ordered lunch here since I was getting a mani-pedi down the road. Good Deal!
came for brunch early on sunday and was seated right away. i had the "Pan Seared Bluefish Cakes." it was good. the celery root slaw was really good. the poached egg was good. the home fries were ok, i wanted more flavor but they were ok. atmosphere is ok, kinda loud so it's hard to have a conversation.
So, my friend LOVES this place and said to go for brunch and be prepared to wait. Okay fair enough, if I know that's what I'm getting into, I'm down to wait. I also was totally on board with them taking my cell to call me when my table is ready. The problem was they lost my number and I waited for an HOUR before I said something. The server was really nice about it and at least sat us RIGHT away at a really good table (lots of elbow room).
I did not like the Bloody Mary- this is the 2nd one I've had lately that was sort of sweet tasting, and I like my SUPER savory with a lot stuff in them. So that was disappointing. Other than that, all of the food was really good and there were several things I wanted. I ended up getting the quiche and a salad bc I had ate GARBAGE all week and it was nice and buttery and light. Everyone else loved their food, but wished the portions were smidge bigger. I did leave not feeling full, which is never a good thing bc it does not take much for me to feel full.
BUT that said: it was really good and cute, so the tip my friend gave me is one I think I will follow-up with next time: put your name in, go to The Gate, get a bagel and a bloody mary there, and then go get brunch. Done.
