After blitzing my body with a ton of bad food and booze over the last few days I decided to just eat something a bit more on the healthier side for lunch today. I remembered this Subway location was around the block from my office and headed over to it for the first time.
Unlike many of their locations this one is fairly large with plenty of seating. High ceilings with large windows to let in plenty of sunshine. Nice cold air conditioning, and fancy light fixtures. It looks like they put some design effort into this one. Still, it's a Subway, and they all have that uniform color coordinated chain restaurant look with the same "Jared approved" menu of sandwich offerings. This location does cater a bit to the working crowd around here with daily lunch specials, but man was it loaded with tourists! Many of them with maps and cameras.
Clean place overall, but some tables were a bit messy from the crowd. Are these people too lazy to clean up after themselves when finished? Sheesh – be a bit considerate! Otherwise, no complaints. Counter staff was quick, friendly, and I had my sandwich made within minutes. No surprises as you know what to expect out of Subway, and this does not take too much thought or pondering when making a lunch decision.
Considering I felt like road kill today my brain cells could not take too much thought anyway!
I usually go to this Subway since it's only a block away from where I work. They are also rather speedy without making you feel like you're being too rushed. The bread is also really fresh as are the toppings.
I usually order the Black Forrest Ham on Italian Herbs & Cheese with Lettuce, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Spinach, and Olives. I'd prefer PepperJack, but they only carry American, Swiss, and Provolone.
Normally I'd give this place 3 stars mostly because of lack of cheeses. HOWEVER, I subtracted another star because they said I had to pay $1.20 for (Add)vocado.
Literally on Monday I went to the Subway on 23rd and Madison and they gave me Avocado as a topping aka FOR FREE. What is with this inconsistency? Should I dock this Subway or massively upvote the other one? I want me some free Avocado on my subway! Is this unreasonable?
