I live in the area and was so excited to find out that a Greenmarket was opening up! I stopped by first thing today for their grand opening. There weren't that many vendors, but I was satisfied with the selection. I'm not too picky and usually buy whatever seems fresh and in season. When I went today, there were five different farmers: 1) Acevedo's Farm: Vegetables 2) Artisan Oven, Central Bakery: Breads and baked goods 3) Nature's Way Farm: Honey and candles 4) R & G Produce: Vegetables 5) Terhune Orchards: Orchard fruit
I'm not sure if it will always be same the vendors, or whether they plan to rotate in different farmers. I hope they do consider expanding to include more variety. Produce was fresh, prices were reasonable, and I was happy to know that my money was supporting local farmers. They accept cash, EBT/Food Stamps, Debit/Credit, etc. According to the fliers being passed out, the greenmarket will be opened every Saturday from 7/25-11/21. I'm a fan and will definitely be back next week.
