  1. Conveniently located on 9th ave, between 24th and 25th street, Sullivan definitely is one of those better quality bakeries providing lots of unique pastry options. Haven't got the opportunity to test them out yet, but that super famous bomboloni was on my list for long. After all, owner Jim Lahey has the special honor of being the JB award best baker…Fortunately, they also have one more location in midtown west, that I could always drop by when that type of craving comes again!

BTW, iced latte was good, and they do have lots of seating inside; just in case you are not getting the bread.

  2. Stopped by here for breakfast and I have to say the lattes are spot on. Ilan who was our barista is so dedicated to his job and highly knowledgable about latte making. His drinks are consistent and perfect. The foam was so thick and rich, I seriously recommend it.

On to the food, I ordered the Italiano and it was simple but tasty. I like how all the flavors meshed in so well together and no one flavor overwhelmed the other. The poached eggs were also made to perfection.

Overall this place had a perfect ambiance, great food, great drinks, attentive workers. Two thumbs up.

  3. Stopped by here yesterday for a vanilla cream bomboloni ($3.75). Much better than a boston cream donut but still short of great, which was diappointing as the server said this was their most known item and is a customer favorite. The cream, while tasty, was really heavy and made me feel like I had eaten 2 or 3 bombolonis. The place is cute with lots of seating but very dimly lit. Very limited pastry options.

  4. This is my new neighborhood go-to place for a quick bite in the morning or at lunch. Their baked goods are amazing, we've liked everything we've tried.

We really like their breakfast sandwiches, especially the one with chorizo.  The eggs are so CREAMY!

I just had their Manzo sandwich. The combination of  beef, cucumbers,  onions are delish,  but the skin on the bread was so tough,  my teeth were toured at the end.  I'm kinda disappointed that I paid $14 for this sandwich.

    Service is quick.

  5. The food is closer to 4.5 stars… I admit they "got me" when I saw fresh "rich man's" brioche (lots of butter) with various toppings right by the cash register. We got one… wish we had gotten several. These guys make good bread (and I live with a baker). I'm not sure that I've had better brioche.

The sandwiches we had were good too, but again the highlight was the bread. That said, we're a bit torn on this place because the guy making the sandwiches had this huge uncontained beard and shaggy, again uncontained, mane. These are all very obvious health violations in every state of the union. I half expected to see at least a couple of hairs in my sandwich but luckily I dodged that bullet. Still it just looks wrong and unsanitary and the owner really should address this…

In any case, great bread, good sandwiches, difficult for us to return even if we wanted to…

  6. Clean yet warm space is home to so many baked magic. Love the aroma in here, filled with wheat and sugar, and not over-powered by coffee
It'S DAYMN IMPORTANT THEY HAVE BREAD LOAF GUYS. I always believe a "bakery" without bread loafs is not a real bakery (uhum, Financier watch out)

Also did I mention the melt in your mouth poached eggs?

What keeps it from 5-star status is the confusing ordering system. There's no clear sign to form a line and the staff members kept shifting around, so it's hard to pin them down.

  7. You go here for the outstanding bread and tasty sandwiches.  We tried a couple of the breakfast sandwiches and both the taste of the eggs and toppings, along with the airy, crunch bread were fantastic.

  8. Love this place! We always come for breakfast. It's small, seats Mayb 25. The food is very good. They serve a complimtary bowl of cornbread squares drizzled with carmel sauce…delicious. It's a nice cool spot. We have brought many friends here over the years. Never disappoints.
