  1. Delicious cakes and pastries. A little pricey for the cakes but they are specialty cakes and amazing quality. I personally think they are worth the money! I got a green tea cake with red bean filling and it was light, airy, and amazing. Even my mom who doesn't like anything super sweet loved it. I also tried the sesame red bean buns and it was so light and delicious. A lot of Korean bakeries do red bean pastries as well but the red bean is wayyy too sweet. This place had everything just right!

  2. Sunmerry Bakery in Fort Lee New Jersey offers a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy various baked goods.

Of course, the parking is incredibly ample.

Their green bubble tea is very good indeed. I don't think I can go back to regular green tea after this.

Their mango cake tastes great, and tastes authentically fruity.

The service here is outstanding. I've never met such nice and courteous people before.

When I came here one Saturday afternoon last month, one woman in particular was very helpful with me.It's moments like that which makes me think about a place and want to go back, even though I don't even live in New Jersey!

I would have loved to see a greater variety in different meal food here, but it's still excellent. I can't wait to go again.

  3. First of all, this is a Taiwanese style bakery, so it will be a bit unfair to compare it with Paris Baguette or other Korean bakery cafe in the Fort Lee/ Palisade Park. Of course there are still some common items that you can find in all of the asian bakeries like red bean bread,  but there are some very unique and special items that you can only find here in Sunmerry.  Items like the shell shaped bread with chocolate filling, the hot dog bread, the scallion bread, and the puff pastry bread with pork floss inside and pineapple bun, these are the staple items in Taiwanese bakery.
I think their bread is less expensive, they also have discount after 6pm, but I do wish they are using less butter and less sugars because I often find its breads are too oily and too sweet.  If they can improve this, I would have no problem giving it 5 stars.

My favorite item from here is actually their Taro Pudding cake ( 7" for $30), you have to special order this one from bakery, and it's slightly pricy than their other cakes, but it's so worth it.   Every time we have friend celebrating b-day, we will order the Taro pudding cake from here and everyone just loves it! I had the taro pudding cake from the tasty bakery from Highland park in central NJ ( this is another Taiwanese bakery), and Sunmerry's taro pudding cake definitely tastes better!

  4. When I read that Sunmerry Bakery originates from Taiwan, I had to check out their bubble tea.  (Everyone knows the best bubble tea is made in Taiwan.)   After tasting a few flavors, I must say I prefer these bubble teas over the others around town.

The bubble menu consists of all the classics – black, green, taro, almond, etc.  The bakery keeps it simple – icy milk teas + well made tapioca balls.   There is only one size and you cannot select sweetness or ice level (although no one in Fort Lee offers this option).  However, for $3.50 it is less expensive than those from other bakeries.

Their bread and pastries are very good as well, such as the donuts stuffed with red bean, almond croissant, coconut bread, taro and red bean bun, parmesan bread, and the little pineapple pastry.  Also, their almond crisp cookies are delicious, loaded with lots of sliced almonds.  The last time I was here, a server was bringing out fresh goods from the kitchen.  I have not had a stale item yet.
Most of the pastries go for $1.60 so it's pretty inexpensive.

Overall, a great bakery that beats the other Asian bakeries on quality and price.

  5. Awesome little bakery!

I've visited the place almost visit to Fort Lee. Everything I've purchased has always looked great and tasted fresh. When you walk in the staff always says greets you, and to the right are some delectable baked items. I've tasted a roll that had mushrooms in it, superb when heated up. The cake slices here are great also, I could be wrong but they seem like "chiffon" cake ish. I ordered some iced cookies here and those were great also. My mouth is watering now..might stop by.

  6. 3.5 stars compared to the other big name bakeries around the area, it is definitely more price friendly. Taste wise its good and fresh and comparable to the other big name bakeries like Tous Les Jours or Paris Baguette, but i feel the variety lacks. There are more plain pastries than fuller pastries.

  7. Relaxing place to come and chat with friends.

I like their bubble teas. The original milk bubble tea does not give me any headaches, unlike those in order from Kung Fu.

Although I've been here more than a dozen times, I haven't tried too many of their pastries. I always end up getting their raison white bread and munch on it while I catch up with friends over a coffee.

The matcha powder flavor in their green tea roll cake was way too strong. And trust me, I am a huge fan of green tea anything.

Matcha latte with salted marshmallow(?) was surprisingly delicious. I was told that it's a classic drink item at cafes in Taiwan, and although the drink at Sun Merry is good, it can't be compared to the ones they sell in Taiwan. Just be careful, the drink is extremely hot because the heat of the latte gets trapped under the thick layer of salt marshmallow.

    This place could be cleaner.

  8. This bakery has it all. Teas, coffee, cakes, buns lol, muffins, pastries,  sandwiches,  bento boxes etc etc. Always baked fresh. Service and prices here are great. I believe they have 3 shifts a day for keeping everything baked fresh. I have taken boxes of goodies from here to work and people have always loved them and devoured then. I think the top one loved my colleagues has beent their nutella buns!

The only knock on this place for me is the bubble tea is horrible ….I mean its bad.

Anyhow still one of the best bakeries in Fort Lee and I would say it's definitely the one with the most diverse menu.
