This taco truck is usually parked off 96th and Broadway right in front of Gristede's. There are usually only two people in the truck, one cooking and the other taking orders. The people are nice, however sometimes there is a bit of a language barrier if your order isn't straightforward/you are making special requests on your order. The truck has a long metal counter that a few people can eat at, but that's about it. So if you don't get a space on the counter, then you're left holding your food as there is no where to really sit near the area; unless you can find a seat on the benches in front of the 96th street station.
The tacos are probably the most authentic that I've had in the UWS. Definitely a good choice to make a stop at before or after a night out.
Meh is how I would describe this taco truck. I came a split a veggie burrito and plate of veggie tacos. The veggie burrito came out first, and I was pretty disappointed. There weren't many veggies, mostly bland rice and beans. Kinda reminded me of a burrito I'd get from taco bell, but not as good tasting.
Then, after quite a long wait, the lady handed us one veggie taco… even though it should have been 3. We didn't bother correcting it since we didn't want to wait for the other 2 taco to be made. But, just like the burrito. the taco was bland and was mostly rice and beans.
Tacos. Freaking amazing. $3 each and two will fill you up. I had the chicken and chorizo tacos. Very good. The plan is to try all the meats.
It's also a food truck. But so yummy. They open at 6pm. You can be like me and wait there at 5:40 until they open bc it's worth it.
Cash only.
Super Tacos is practically an UWS institution. It's the place other Mexican restaurant staff members go to after closing time and the only taco truck I know of that:
1. been around for over a decade;
2. serves up a good taco;
3. has daily specials;
4. has a small army of its own delivery bikes.
What more can you ask for? Especially for the UWS.
I see this place walking by and a spot in desire to try it out. After abowl of halal guys chicken, all I could accommodate was a $3 Taco veggie and a $2 Tamalas veggie- and it was delishhh!!!! Prices – i love them! Food- fresh and spicy!! Best part is this guy is awake until late night:)- makes for amazing late night street food!!!
TIP- dont forget a dash of lemon and green sauce- highly recommended on whatevr yiu choose to eat!!
One of the best taco trucks in Gotham
The vegetarian tacos didn't live up to the hype that is "best tacos on the uws" were they tasty? Yes. Were they a decent portion for the price ? Yes. So I'm good. I wish they tasted better. My problem is that we order well in advance and I still had to wait at the truck.
The service was nice which was cool. I scored a free beverage and I as used it was because I spoke Spanish with the woman and was a new customer so I like that. The guacamole lacked salt but the salsas were right on the money.
My kiddos loves the burrito ( veggie ) and the cheese flautas..I tried one as well and the cheese they used on that was amazing.
I'd go here again if I had a craving for Mexican whilst in the uws
al pastor taco
chicken flauta
so far the most decent
mexican food consumed in new york.
non-hipster, non-fusion
not the usual junk slathered in cheese
and sour cream with ground beef
wrapped in a tortilla.
prices are really steep for truck food.
