  1. We held a post convention event here for our non profit, and I think our general opinion was … meh. Drink prices were affordable, and the view was not bad, but also not amazing (it's not one of the skyscraper lounges). Since we were hosting an event, there was enough people to mingle with, but aside from our group, there weren't many other patrons. Also, I don't really remember hearing music, so that was another important aspect of a bar/lounge that was missing.

Good choice for holding group events, but not so much for dates and the like.

  2. Supernova is a cool bar/restaurant with a good view from Times Square.
The restaurant is casual/upscale, with a nice decoration. The bar is located not so close to the windows, but they have seats outside, so no problem. Although, if you sit at the bar, you'll enjoy the view of the flow of the guests from the hotel.
Anyways, we had a few cocktails that were good, and then we got to our table.
Had a Mac'n cheese with lobster for appetizer and a roasted chicken with polenta.
It's not expensive and the service is good.

  3. Located in the Novotel hotel in Times Square. Very modern, new and clean ambience with an outdoor patio overlooking Times Square (beautiful at night).

Slightly pricy for the portion sizes. I had the "seared tuna salad" and broccolini. Broccolini was slightly overcooked and tuna salad came with 3 pieces of small tuna.

Convenient if you are staying at the hotel, but I would expect better service for a 4 star hotel

  4. Supernova is a rooftop-ish bar that overlooks Times Square and where you can go on a summer evening and get a seat without needing a reservation. It is neither crowded, noisy, nor overly expensive ($8 beers). Let that seemingly impossible combination of awesomeness sink in.

I have two caveats to the above. First, it's technically an outdoor patio bar that's only a handful of flights above ground level. So it will not be as high as those bars that are atop penthouses. I've also only gone on off-peak nights (so never Thursday through Saturday). That being said you can always make a (group-only) reservation.

Entering the bar may be tricky – you have to enter Novotel Hotel Times Square, take the elevator to up to "L," walk through the lobby, and pass through the indoor portion of the bar until you're outside. But once you're there you can enjoy the peace of an non-crowded bar and marvel at the beauty of your surroundings. Service is fine, and never pushy if you end up lounging around.

This is an excellent place for any event ranging from a work happy hour to a date. My only regret is not finding out about this place until late this past summer.

  5. Came here for an event and the bar was overwhelmed in the earlier hours. The place is really nice and open, very large windows bringing in the Broadway light and air with a nice terrace overlooking Broadway.  I didn't try any food, but may do so next time.

  6. This place is somewhat of a hit and miss. Sometimes it can deliver beautifully executed food and sometimes it falls short of your expectations. I stay at the hotel often and end up eating here when I'm too lazy to go elsewhere and generally find the food to be of good quality and priced moderately which makes it great value. My four star review constitutes the value for money and quality for food as well as the ambiance that the restaurant offers.

The spicy chicken starters are to die for, I absolutely love them and make a point of ordering them at least twice while here. The seafood jamabalya is absolutely awesome here as well and the flavors are very rich without being overwhelming and it definitely rocks my palate.

During the summer, this bar/restaurant gets access to a great view of Times Square from their balcony and it can be a great place to spend a few hours having some drinks and just having a great time.

If you're around, especially when the weather is a bit more forgiving, I definitely recommend stopping by and trying it.

  7. Was looking for outdoor place to get a drink at 3pm on Sunday in Midtown and found most places did not open til 4. I happen to look up and noticed the terrace of the Novotel Hotel. Glad I did as had a chill wine and tap beer for under 20 and got to stare at  time squat billboard as seen from my tip. Inside is part of lobby so doubt would come here in bad weather. I did not try food.

  8. Where can you enjoy the Times Square view without having to deal with the tourists?

Enter Supernova, a bar/restaurant situated at Novotel at the heart of the crossroads of the world. The ambiance is hip and trendy, the indoor part of the restaurant can hold large groups and can accommodate multiple events. While the terrace is an open air venue with Times Square skyline as your backdrop.

We came here to drink after a friend's birthday dinner and to hang out with a DJ friend who was spinning that night as well. The bar service was fast and efficient, we tried different cocktails. I am looking forward to coming back here to try their brunch deals on weekends.
