Great chicken parm sandwich, 3 for 1 drink special for brunch. I love this place. Their chicken parm pasta is delicious too. Overall great food, one of my favorite brunch spots
Fantastic restaurant, great food for low prices. I enjoyed the duck tortelloni which was cooked in a delicious sauce.
Very cozy and informal setting, great wine, and very busy so come early (no reservations or credit cards for that matter).
I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu as it seems it often changes up.
Go here.
Lovely Italian joint of that genre that's not uncommon in the East Village–cozy seating, unpretentious service, and semi-reasonable tabs. They had a 2-seater in a narrow lane (the restaurant is like a little castle, full of secret nooks, staircases, and hallway…try finding the restroom and it will take you on a tour of the restaurant).
We were pretty hungry after a show at UCB and got into the menu quickly. If I recall, our Mozzarella di Bufala was upgraded to a burrata, which was awesome. Go with their fresh, delicious pastas, and you will go with god.
Staff was busy and pretty nice. I would return for another meal.
i came here with a group of 9 for dinner on friday night. we made a reso in advance and were promptly seated in the intimate downstairs cellar. warning- the steps to get down here are steep and poorly lit. the overall ambiance of downstairs was very romantic and comfy, loved the picture of the last supper hanging near our table.
the menu has a ton of options ranging from pastas, risottos's, anti pasta, salads, entrees etc. etc. i think i read the menu 10 times and was still finding things that i had missed. so i guess i will have to come back.
we ordered a ton of apps to share, highlights for me were the black salt caesar and the burrata. the burrata was creamy deliciousness! oh and how can i forget the crunch chewy complimentary bread and garlicky white bean dip they also bring to the table. ah-mazing. being a garlic lover, i was in heaven with that dip!
the majority of our table ordered the priest stranglers with sausage or the tagliatelle bolognese for entrees. the stranglers were perfectly al dente with a great sunday gravy and the fresh ricotta, oh lawd. must get. another entree highlight was the chicken parm, it was huge! the tagliatelle bolonese unfortunately was way overcooked. it was pretty mushy and was breaking.
at the end of dinner we let the servers know that that the tagliatelle was overcooked, my friend had essentially taken 4 or 5 bites and still had an entire dish sitting in front of her. we wouldve tried to address sooner, but we didnt have much interaction with our server during the meal. it was really more the 2nd server bring us water and wine. so we still ended up paying for it, but they brought us some tiramisu to compensate.
This looked like a cute spot for our monthly ladies dinner club and it would have been had we not been crammed in the back room which was so cramped and so loud we could barely move and barely hear each other. It was very frustrating. At one point one of the ladies needed to use the restroom and 5 out of 7 of us had to get up and leave our seats just so she could get out- someone commented it felt like being on an airplane and they were right.
The food was hit and miss. My priest stranglers with sausage was very good as was the burrata. The caesar salad was very salty and avocado salad very plain. Meatballs were lacking in flavor as well.
Overall I can't imagine I'll be back but made the best of our dinner club while we were there.
Supper is very good all the way through, but in my opinion, the one particular standout dish is the bruschetta, which has some of the best tomatoes I've had in New York. It's not as perfect as some of the bruschetta you'll get in — let's say — Italy, but it's still incredible nonetheless.
The pastas are very good as well, although not quite at that extremely high level — I wouldn't put Supper among my very favorite pasta places in the city (Osteria Morini, Lupa, etc), but I've still really enjoyed their bolognese, among others. Definitely a very good spot.
So imagine kitschy, yet, with a family theme. Also…..imagine, this weird mix….the LES that's become very hoity-toity; meets old-fashioned, charming restaurant, with a cozy, homey feel. I never thought the two would meet. But Supper made it happen. Exterior is simple with outdoor seating. Interior, is dim throughout, with several black and white family photos and large mirrors counterbalancing the brick layout and sizable, rustic wood tables
"Counter", seats were the only thing available since we didn't have a reservation. Seats didn't look bad at all-honestly. But it meant, sitting directly in front of their kitchen with just a glass sheet wall dividing us and the food flare ups. I kind of gave in, since Supper was packed. Within two minutes at the counter, the hostess, asked if we'd like to sit at a table, because a larger party had recently cancelled. Great!
Right off the bat…Supper's atmosphere is not for the weakling. I personally liked the interior vibe; but the fact that Supper is rather tight, it may not sit well with everybody (no pun intended). Appetizers were all right. The Octopus was seasoned nicely with a cool, spicy kick. My Roasted Beet salad was good, I just wished that the greens were dressed more thoroughly.
Our server was very attentive with our Cosmos which were delicious, and just kept coming. My Pappardelle with Lamb Ragout was mouthwatering and tasty. On the contrary, Grilled Salmon was left on the grill more than we would have liked and taste was invisible. In the end, service won me over and Supper seems to pride themselves in their pasta dishes only.
Let's get straight to it – Supper was AWESOME! Our meal was glorious, we sampled a little bit of everything. Let's talk about the highlights of the evening.
APPS: The Burrata & Veal Meatballs (meatballs are a MUST)
The veal meatballs were the highlight of the evening! BEST BALLS EVER. So good we went back for a second round!
Do yourself a favor and order the humongous Burrata if you're a cheese fan. The creamy cheesey deliciousness was so decadent! Tip: spread it on the toasty bread they serve. Yum!
ENTREES: Tagliatelle w/ Lamb Ragu (special) & Chicken Parm
Pastas were perfect! Fresh + al dente + hearty portions + great sauces. For someone who thinks lamb is gamey, their lamb ragu tasted like meaty heaven in my mouth! Don't like lamb? Get the "Priest Stranglers" with sausage and fresh ricotta. Excellente!
Also, a special shoutout to their chicken parm! It is FAR from basic. Pounded thin and fried crispy, paired with a delicious side of spaghetti in a savory, basil-y marinara sauce.
DESSERT: Tiramisu & Fudge Sundae w/ vanilla, cinnamon, coffee ice cream (special)
Tiramisu was sooo fresh and creamy. Truly heavenly! Server poured fresh warm fudge on my sundae with three excellent flavors of ice cream with the perfectly ripe strawberries and bananas. It was like an ICE CREAM DREAM. Fantastic way to finish the meal!
– Meal was paced perfectly.
– Restaurant is small with a rustic feel and open kitchen. Great for an intimate dinner or group dinner!
– When it's nice out they have tables outside with heat lamps, how cool!
-Only qualm is the server not being able to give a good wine recommendation when we asked for a suggestion.
Can supper be perfect like this every night? Please?
