  1. I was excited to try this place for takeout on my Lenten no-meat friday since I was in the area. I ordered their salmon teriyaki bento box + 1 spicy tuna roll. When I came in, the guy told me he messed up and accidentally upgraded me to the super tuna roll or something like that, but would give it to me for the spicy tuna roll, which is really nice of him….until he told me it was $24. Somehow, an $11 bento box + $5 sushi roll + tax turned into $24. I had him fix it, but it's really sketchy since he should know lunch price since he works there. I felt like I would've been cheated if I didn't catch on. Beware!

Anyways, on to the food review. The tuna roll was really good and spicy! The bento box for the most part was good…except for the main hero of the platter, the salmon teriyaki. I never had salmon so overcooked in my life. They were generous in giving 2 pieces, but they were the 2 driest pieces of fish I have ever had and I'm serious. The white rice was also overcooked and soggy. Not sure how a place serving japanese food can overcook salmon that much. I was super disappointed. It would've been 1 star if it wasn't for the tuna roll.

  2. The staff is friendly enough, so I really wanted to like this place. We called for a semi large party last minute and they were very happy to accommodate us. When we walked in, we were seated immediately. The restaurant was full.

That is where everything went downhill.

The table was gross – the surface was sticky, as if it hadn't been wiped down at all. I don't think I got over this the entire meal.

When ordering, I ordered 2 salads along with our appetizers for the table. The waiter failed to mention that we were getting complimentary salads, so The bf and I ended up with too much salad. I was slightly irritated as the salads were not the cheapest and I hate wasting food.

When the entrees came, the waiter brought everything out in intervals. By the time everyone at the table had their food, I was still sitting there with an empty plate. After about ten minutes, we flagged down the waiter to ask about my food. He never took down my order. How? I ordered in between two people! He didn't even apologize.

My food finally came out and it was kind of gross. The rice on my rolls was over-seasoned – wet and too sweet. I couldn't eat it. I ended up picking the fish bits out and just eating that so I didn't feel like I wasted food.

In their defence, the sushi boat was good – but that only says something about the quality of the fish. The bf and my rolls were still awful.

They brought us complimentary bean paste soup and complimentary ice cream desserts.

But I can't get over the fact that they missed my entire order. Also there were two servers for the floor but it was so difficult to flag them down. Our tea cups were empty half the time and no one came around to fill them unless we really worked to flag them down.

I was really disappointed and would probably avoid coming back. The prices are fair, the food didn't make me sick, and the staff meant well – so I gave them 2 stars for that.

  3. me definitely thinks not.
i'll keep it short and simple:
1- sushi was not fresh, it was very mushy.
2- waitress was rude and refused to write down our orders and we had to tell her 3 times!
3- 1/2 of us got sick from it the next day.
4- warm sake did NOT taste good.
    pros:
1- free red bean icecream was yum.
2- cucumber/pickle was refreshing and crunchy.

  4. So this place looked awfully familiar when I walked in, little did I know they have a sister restaurant in Flushing. The place was empty on a Sunday afternoon, so service was fast. Quick glance of the menu, they had pricing for lunch and dinner. But lunch special pricing was not valid on the weekends. I ordered a california hand roll and salmon maki roll. The BF ordered a dragon roll and a spicy salmon roll. The rolls are more expensive than typical places, but they are huge. In additional to our rolls, we were given complimentary side dishes ( salad with ginger sauce, pickled cucumbers, edamame, fish croquette, and seaweed). Definitely didn't expect that but then again it's a Korean owned Japanese restaurant. After asking for the check, the waiter asked which flavor of ice cream we wanted. So, free ice cream too! Not so bad restaurant, but I think it's more known for its takeout sashimi and sushi platters.

  5. The review is basically for the service. We ordered a large platter and bento boxes for take out for lunch for the bridal party.. we asked if they could provide plates for us, however they did not have any, and we asked if we were able to get some of the carry out containers as replacement because how else were we suppose to eat the sushi?! They refused to give us more than 3 even when we had just ordered over $120 worth of food. We also ordered over an hour in advance, and the order was still not ready when we came to pick it up. The staff was not too friendly or accommodating.

The sushi was decent, but you really can't go wrong with sashimi. Great, they have a good supplier.. but the rolls were a little sloppy and just comparable to other sushi restaurants. The bento box was ehh. I'd recommend just sticking with sashimi, otherwise.. steer clear! They're RUDE!!

  6. Great sushi and soups here.  I love how they serve side dishes like Korean restaurants and give you either red bean or green tea ice cream at the end for free.

It's a tiny place so there can be short wait.  Service here is okay and the decor needs some help.  It looks like this place has gotten a bit run down from the last time.

I recommend but only for a casual dinner or lunch.

  7. This place is awesome for takeout sushi platters. They offer a variety of platters to suit your needs whether your preference be sushi or sashimi. The fish is fresh and the service is extremely fast. I ordered a platter about half an hour before I wanted to pick it up.

  8. They were super welcoming as soon as we walked in. We decided to order the sushi sashimi combo deluxe — the portions were great and very nicely presented. The hostess definitely made an effort to make our night enjoyable. She customized the music to the customers in the restaurant. There was another group in the restaurant with us and we overheard them complimenting their consistent good service. Apparently they've been coming here for over 5 years!

Not the best grading of sashimi I've had but for the price the sushi/sashimi was worth it. I would come back for the service and to relieve my sushi craving
