  1. Delicious sushi rolls. Huge, creative, and lots of fish in them. My favorite is the Explosion Roll. Adorable presentation. Relatively inexpensive too. The best sushi in the neighborhood.

  2. I chose the place randomly and was quite surprise with the food. Very good place. I think it is a family business. The wait was a little bit as we were the only one in the restaurant but it worth it. They are very generous with the fish. It was more authentic then ozy that it is on the other side of the street. I never hang out there so it will be difficult to go there but will return if I am in the area.

  3. Utter disappoint considering the high reviews.  Food is reasonably priced for NYC cost of living standard, but quality of sashimi is mediocre by Mom and Pop owned and operated.  Upon entering around 5:15 pm Saturday evening as Power of One (me, myself and I) I was not properly greeted and there was no hospitality or ushering me to a seat by a restaurant hostess.  I was not given a menu as there was no smile to welcome me– this is a food service/ hospitality business and there was no basic customer service of being properly served attentively!!  I am a white collar/ pink collar customer service/ hospitality worker for over a decade and was fend off as unwanted or rejected.  Since it is family owned and operated the owner's adult daughter had her child running a monk and wreak havoc in a business environment rather than provide child care in a home environment.  This is a small restaurant with a minimum of five tables and was not extremely busy when I was dinning.  Thankfully, no TVs are pinned against the wall for sports addicts.  Evidently, I used the takeout menu to place my dine-in order.  Sushi Gallery is a combination Japanese and Korean restaurant and the takeout menu had many penned cross-outs for discontinuation rather than spending money to print new menus.  I never saw the dine-in menu because I was NEVER given one.

    * Sushi deluxe (10 pcs sushi and 6 pcs California Roll served with Miso soup and salad) $20.00 – the sashimi was mediocre as the rice completely fell apart when dipped into soy sauce.  The yellow mayonnaise sauce for the California roll is extremely spawn hot spicy.  The table soy sauce was extremely high in sodium content and no low sodium soy sauce was, unfortunately, not an option.  Amid, considering all the health conscious options in 2016 era (gluten free, vegan, lactose free, peanut free, soy free, etc.) yet Sushi Gallery does not offer low sodium soy sauce.  I specifically ordered Sushi regular (6 pcs sushi and 6 pcs California roll, non-spicy) $16.00 but I ended up Sushi deluxe, ergo messing up my order!!
    * Chilled white wine $5.00

  4. From the outside, you wouldn't dare venture in but I'm telling you it's worth it!

It's a cute mom and pop shop located inside the Clark St subway entrance. It's an ideal ideal spot for a date, especially if you're a college student living in the Brooklyn Dorms. The prices won't burn a hole in your pocket and you'll be treating your date to a meal they won't forget!

Don't mind the times listed, usually your best bet is to head in around d 4 – 6 pm when it's not as busy or 10 – 11, right before they close.

    Notes:
     1. Their spicy tuna and spicy salmon is a tad spicier if your taste buds are new to spicy foods.
    2. They no longer serve hot foods minus the dumplings, soup and edemame.
    3. They accept credit cards!
    4. They have alcohol!

  5. I only come to the city on weekends but on weekdays I crave Sushi Gallery. It's a seriously strong craving, like Harold-and-Kumar-Go-To-White-Castle-strong.

It's a family-owned establishment located in the subway station at Clark Street, so it's unassuming and simple, yet clean and classy.

The basic rolls that I've had (spicy tuna roll, spicy yellowtail roll, spicy salmon roll) are spectacular and very reasonably priced at under $5. They are the new standard in which I judge other sushi.

I've also had the Romantic Sunset roll (bbq eel, avocado, cucumber with salmon on top). Mouthgasm, would recommend. The Henry roll (spicy tuna, shrimp and avocado on top) was equally delicious. Also shelled out the $22 for the Sushi Gallery roll (spicy tuna roll and spicy salmon roll topped with tuna, salmon red snapper, white tuna, crab, eel, shrimp, yellowtail and avocado) which came with 12 pieces of craziness. A little too much going on but was still very enjoyable. My undistinguished palate could not really differentiate between all of the various fishes. Still, I was more than full and satisfied and it came with a free miso soup.

Finally, as Judy S said in her review, $10 bottles of soju. SOCHEAP

  6. We went on a Sunday for lunch and the place was pretty empty. Despite this it took some time for us to get someone to take our order. However, the wait was worth it. The sushi was delicious and pretty reasonable (sushi is expensive, so this isn't cheap, but it is reasonable for good sushi). I was surprised by the quality of the sushi pieces themselves (nigiri, not rolls or sashimi). The chef was very generous with the fish.

I would definitely recommend this place and plan to be back very soon. I would also note that they will ask for ID for sake even if you are clearly over 21. I haven't been carded in sometime but since I didn't have it no drink for me. Sake is pretty reasonable, starting at $4 for the cheapest option.

  7. Excellent sushi place hidden inside the Clark station of the 2 & 3 subway line.
The restaurant is run by its owners who are the ones that cook and serve you. Mom and pop, like they call themselves, are a true example of a well established shop that has build their clientele over the years because of the fresh food they serve and the top quality of the ingredients.
The menu is extensive and has a lot of great options that I believe you cannot go wrong with any choice. We ordered four rolls and it was plenty of food for two persons… And we were hungry! All the rolls either simple or special are generous in size and consistent. No falling rice or rolls that dissolve in the soy sauce. You can tell they are very well constructed and they don't skimp ingredients. You get big pieces of sushi and fish. And top quality!
We had the Alaska that was bigger in size and ingredients than any other Alaska roll I had in my life.
Then the Big Mae is delicious but a little bit overwhelming since it comes with every seafood you can imagine so the five pieces you get are huuuuuuuuuge. Anyway, the flavor is amazing!
Then the stars of the meal were both the Firecracker roll and the Tuna Love roll. They were heavy on spiciness but the taste… Oh my god, astonishing!! I guess if you can ask for mild spiciness then it would be a blast! Unless you like a little bit of numbness in your tongue.
The grilled step of the Firecracker is a very nice touch and the sweetness of the Tuna on the love roll too.
No doubt this is one of the best sushis in town!!

  8. Really big, fat, delicious, and fresh sushi rolls in the most unexpected of places: a small sushi restaurant attached to Clark Street subway station.

Yelp pointed me here, and my boyfriend and I ordered the following rolls: Volcano, Alaska, Explosion, and Romantic Sunset.

Holy sh*t, the special rolls, particularly the Volcano, are amazing and filling. I mean sure, you don't get the ambiance of a nicer sushi restaurant, but if all you care about is the food then you will be more than satisfied. The special rolls are priced around $10-15 (comparable to other places) but much bigger, and they are generous with the fish.

It's owned by a couple and they appeared to be the only ones cooking, so it took a little while for the food to come out, but it was worth the wait.
