Whenever my friends make fun of me for my Yelp addiction, I always remind them that as long as there are enough reviews of a place they are usually pretty accurate. I ALWAYS look it up, and really only review something if I have something additional to contribute. Here, the previous reviews were spot on and I should have listened.
I got the tofu and vegetable drunken noodles ($8), and it just…. wasn't good. It tasted like Chinese food made with pad thai ingredients, and what is usually a semi-spicy dish lacked any flavor whatsoever. There was very little tofu or vegetables, so it was basically just a bowl of bland noodles. At least toss some extra sauce on the side if you're worried about customers complaining about spice, rather than just not putting any sauce on there.
The inside looked nice enough, and the takeout service was prompt and friendly but there are just too many other options in the area.
This place was ok. We went in with a group of 8 so yes, that can be daunting. But goodness, the order taking was not that great at all. The waitress kept messing up the order. The value is semi ok.
I paid $7 for maybe a cup of soba noodles. And they forgot to bring out the sauce. The sushi was decent, but not spectacular. But I'd eat it again.
They charged extra for miso soup even with a sushi order, I found that kind of laughable. But whatever.
One nice thing was the chicken teriyaki was not dry and tough. A lot of places give you a very thin cutlet which basically dehydrates in the oven and the teriyaki sauce is very watery. This place had the proper thick sauce and moist chicken.
I might check out some of the other locations next time.
I stopped by here recently for dinner during the recent snow storm and was surprised that it was completely empty. But I ordered anyway and was pleasantly surprised. I only ordered the seafood combo fried rice which was listed as a spicy dish. The portion was large enough for at least two people and was delicious. Although, it was listed as spicy it was very mild but had a flavorful taste to it. It also had plenty of seafood in the rice and would make a great choice for any seafood lover.
The service was decent and fast. I would definitely try this restaurant again in the future.
Why all the haters Sushi Tatsu, Bed-Stuy edition? In the month that I subletted in NYC, I probably ate there 3-4 times. Let's keep in mind this place is called SUSHI Tatsu, so it's in your best interest to order the Sushi.
Their spicy tuna roll is great, however, a little unconventional with a little pile of panko breading rolled in. All the veggie rolls are very fresh and the eel avocado roll was fantastic. The harumaki are basically fried spring rolls and they're crisp and perfect, served with a sweet and spicy sauce. The fried pineapple rice is so good, with little chunks of dried fruit, nuts, and pineapple. It's really exotic and unique. But again, SUSHI Tatsu, emphasis on the sushi.
Pricewise, this place is insane in NYC. They have a deal where you can get three rolls (that's 18 pieces of sushi) for $11. ELEVEN DOLLARS. The bento box is huge for $14 and you get tempura, some kind of meat, sushi rolls, soup, and a salad. I didn't order this, but my boyfriend did, and he seemed pleased with his selection. At night, you can get boozed up with some free wine (when you order an entree).
Haters gon' hate, Sushi Tatsu. As for me, I'll keep enjoying your insanely cheap and tasty sushi.
I used to frequent the Franklin Ave. location after yoga nearby, and the sushi special was always excellent. I can't say this location is on par, but it'll do every once in a while. My boo and I sometimes get the basil fried rice and a noodle dish for take out. Delivery is quick too, when we don't feel like walking around the block.
Good lunch special every day though, including weekends.
Came here for a quick dinner stop with my father- should've gone to the other place nearby instead. He ordered the shrimp and vegetable tempura, beef negimaki and seafood udon. I ordered a yellowtail scallion roll, Saba maki roll, and salmon skin roll. The food came in very small portions, and didn't look cooked properly. The fish looked like it was a week old- the sushi was dry and unappetizing. The udon looked dry as well, and I didn't finish my sushi because I was worried about food poisoning. The only good part was the mango and sticky rice, which was delicious. Will not come here again for dinner.
We ordered take out delivery and it took an hour to arrive, don't get me wrong it is a Friday night…. everyone is ordering…… I can live with that however once the delivery driver arrived late he didn't even make an attempt to apologize for arriving 1 hour late. Not customer friendly.
The spicy crunch tuna salmon rolls, salmon avocado rolls, and the spicy scallop rolls are average but the miso soup is awesome nice chucks of tofu and leeks.
I'm seriously considering a dramatic break up (removing their number from my cell phone …gasp) with this location, but that miso soup (um just saying) earned two stars.
Miso soup that's the real MVP.
