IMO…Best Pizza Ever! Been a steady patron for two years and by steady I mean many times a week. The guys here are the best. Family owned and run and some of the nicest guys you will ever meet. They have made things off menu for me and my friends through the years and even named an item after my building after my roommates and I made a crazy hybrid item. These are the type of guys you want in your home town pizzeria! I could write a book about how great it is but rather will tell you to just go and try it.
I really wanted to love this place.. Old school pizzeria with friendly guys talking another language. Slices were huge and prices low. Regular slice was alright. Giving it some slack since I got it at 10:30 at night and I didn't have the guy heat it up all the way. But for the love of pizza gods, how can a Sicilian slice be made so bad? From the cheese, to not having any sauce to the too hard crust. But the worst part was that it had not cooked, but chunks of raw onions in it! I'll repeat – very friendly service though!
How on earth the pizza joint down the block stays in business is beyond me. I made the mistake of visiting that pizza place, which will remain nameless in this review, last time I was staying on the Upper East Side.
I grabbed a couple of slices from Sutton last week and it is the epitome of fantastic NY slices. This is my new go to pizza joint on the UES!!!!
If you are with some out of towners and you are looking for a good local slice, you should look no further.
Was looking for a local pizza place with a few seats as I was coming here with 4 others. Low and behold, I found this little gem thanks to Yelp.
Anyway, the guys were all quite nice. The younger guy in front is quite a character and the older guy is nice/funny also.
The drink selection was sparse but Mug root beer works well enough for pizza.
We had a large pie, a Greek salad, a spanakopita, a bowl of soup, and I personally had an anchovy (my personal preference along with Mushroom) and a white slice because why not.
The Greek Salad was sparsely dressed though there was a good amount of Feta and a few pieces of cucumber/tomato/pepper/a few olives. No Greek dressing but it is well a pizza place and at lest the lettuce wasn't wilted.
I tried a little bit of the minestrone which was fine. Good large portion.
The spanakopita was frankly pretty good. Good amount of feta and spinach and pretty inexpensive.
In terms of the slices, the white pizza was solid. The flavor was lighter than the anchovy slice but the underlying cheese was good. It had a proper thin crust and people looking for a lighter slice should probably get this.
The anchovy pizza was solid. Good pretty large slice of pizza with a good thin crust, some good cheese, and a couple anchovies. I would say that there were a bit less anchovies than I usually find on a slice but then again, the other places that I have tried have also been smaller slices so perhaps it was perspective. It wasn't super greasy/oily either, even for an anchovy slice.
Good pizza that isn't super greasy. Color me impressed. Pretty inexpensive and quite tasty. Nice/funny staff to boot.
Solid, 4.1
I was very hungry and in the neighborhood; craving pizza. I saw this place and walked in to check it out. I ordered a slice of their white pizza – DELICIOUS!! My review is only based on that one slice. The staff was very nice and helpful. It is a small space – there's a TV and a few tables in the far back of the store. Not necessarily a place I would want to sit and hang out; but I did sit to eat my slice. They bring the slice to your table after they warm it up.
Great service and amazing pizza. I would go again! The ambiance/store interior leaves something to be desired – which is why I didn't give that 5th star.
The pizza here looked okay. But the big irritation… man is making pizza, then picks up my slice to put into the oven, then takes money from someone else. He then promptly returns to making pizza. And takes money again from someone. And then takes my pizza out and hands it to me.
I didn't bother eating the slice. And at $4.50 for a veggie slice, it was a waste of a lot of money and a lesson to watch a place first.
It's a very casual place. The owner is very nice and I saw him make the pizzas himself on the counter. I love this authentic feel.
The slices are rather large, with the cheese under $3. The pepperoni was $3.75. They had a bunch of other options but they were out. In addition they had gyros on the menu as well as calzones, rolls, and pasta.
Delicious! Hits the spot. They put it back in the oven prior to serving the slice.
It's cash only.
Went to new york for vacation last weekend. We stayed at the bentley hotel which is on 62 and york. the first thing i wanted to do was go eat pizza even though it was pouring rain that thursday we flew in. me and my gf walked around a couple of blocks and im so glad our first stop was sutton pizza. the owner was very nice and got our order in really quick. man oh man, i love new york pizza!!! i loved the convenience of the place and how it delivered to our hotel room. I'd go with the classic cheese pizza or the Sicilian. Man i miss new york already!!!
