  1. I was going on a street art walking tour and it started in front of Swallow, so I thought I'd grab a quick coffee for the walk. Wasn't expecting much from the drip coffee, but it was actually pretty good. Glad I decided to be cheap and not get an espresso based drink, which is usually my regret at new coffee shops.

  2. Nice pastries here (kinda huge compared from some places in Manhattan) and amazing cappuccino. I loved their almond croissant. The place may look like they furnished it with rubbish, but it's just another hipster place (with real amazing food- so let's close an eye here) with a way too dark ambience.

  3. What kind of cafe is cash only even for the larger priced orders!? Mad annoying to see when you come in – and this place is so darkly lit that you can't really do much.  The decor there is such a waste of space and is super uninspiring.  There are many other coffee shops that you can go to for better coffee and environment.  Bagel also took forever to get and it was so expensive as well.

  4. The woman at the register just pulled an assumptive tip jar drop with my change. Twenty-five cents, which I'd've definitely committed to the same fate, but damn! I'm flabbergasted. Interesting position, right?

"It was twenty-five cents, dude, relax. How stingy are you?" I shouldn't speak for you, I know, but you shouldn't tip for me.

Good coffee, bagels, muffins, sweetbreads; spotty wi-fi–perhaps a PC problem, though, in which case I'm likely the only one with that complaint.

Can't get over that quarter drop. Fuckin lol

  5. Solid place to pull up a seat and do some work. Seems like there's an abundance of outlets to keep you juiced up and good to go. We ordered the sencha tea and a everything bagel with cream cheese. I usually put a lot of cream cheese on my bagel but they doubled what I usually put on hehe. But I'd rather have more cream cheese than less. Ain't nothing fun about a bagel with minimal cheese.

Decor is like it's a repurposed building. Which it probably is. It's dim and, well… it's what you'd expect from this hipster haven.

This spot is cash only so come prepared. There's an ATM on site though!

  6. Love this place! Coffee is good and so are the croissants and bagels. The chocolate croissants are delicious! Service is friendly enough, and the line always moves quickly. It's clean and the open layout is inviting. Lots of light from the large windows. Prices are fine. It's probably a good place to do work during the week because there are lots of plugs and tables and seating, but I feel like it gets too crowded on the weekends to concentrate. It also gets touristy on the weekends, with lots of people taking photos and such.

Oh and the small coffee is really tiny. You'll have to get a medium.

  7. My husband and I came here at the recommendation of our AirBnB hostess to kill some time before our flight. We were in one of those binds where we didn't really have enough time to go do anything in the area but didn't want to show up hours early for our flight so killing time here is was welcome.

After sitting here there for a while I remembered that I had actually been there almost a decade ago when I was in Brooklyn selling at the Renegade Craft Fair. It's a hard place to forget, the interior is unique with lots of repurposed furniture (think old sewing machine tables, rows of old wooden auditorium seats, etc), but it took me a while for my previous time there to come into focus. Had a good visit then, too.

Anyway, back to the present….we definitely spent a nice chunk of time here on a Sunday afternoon and it was perfect for that. The unique seating makes for not the most comfy of lounging but there's plenty of it so it was a-ok. While killing time there I had a bagel with scallion cream cheese, an iced coffee, and a chocolate croissant. All were fantastic. I liked the bagel best. Toasted up a bit with that oniony cream cheese? Real good.

I sat and read my book and my husband got a little work done on his laptop. We had our luggage with us and it comfortably fit in the back corner with us since the shop is pretty spacious. No one gave us a hard time about hanging out there for a few hours and it was nice and quiet. Would definitely kill time or grab a snack and caffeine here again. Thanks for being our pre-flight refuge!

  8. I was sitting here with a PC…and people made me feel funny about it.  I mean, listen cool people, some people dont have Macs. Actually, truth be told, there ARE people out there that dont even like Macs.  Swallow that down.. (see what I did there?)

That said, I like the space. I like the coffee and I think the service is fine.  Dont be a dick and you wont get treated like a dick.  Write that down and thank me later.

Cool little spot for a stop over.  Wifi not killer and when too many people are there…its slows to a crawl.  Other than that, this place works.
