  1. We came to Sweet Chick last weekend for dinner. It was a bit busy but nothing to crazy. We waited about 25 mins.  We gave our name and they texted us when our table was ready. When walking in, the bar is to the left and most seating is to the right.  The restaurant is decorated with a lot of wood and very country.  It has mostly hip hop music playing. The ambience is a laid back vibe.

So, Who doesn't love chicken and waffles?  I absolutely love crispy, fluffy, fresh, hot waffles and crunchy, juicy well seasoned chicken.  I must say this restaurant does it right!  I also really like that they have different specials on the menu/board. We looked over the menu, but we kind of knew what we wanted. We decided on:

The special spiced pecan corn bread-  So this was a mini warm cornbread. If this was good I would have been okay with the $3 dollar price tag, but it was dry and super small. Not Cool..

We both ordered the bacon and cheddar waffles and chicken- Awesome Awesome AWESOME!! It was great, everything it was suppose to be! A whole waffle with chunks of bacon. So yummy!  But you get a small portion of fried chicken.

We also ordered side a special of crispy brussel sprouts which were delicious! Super crunchy from being fried a little tangy and they had almonds on top.

We also had collards which I thought were super tangy. They had cranberries on top. Not real other seasoning.

I really love Sweet Chick. Their portions are small and sides are hit and miss. Parking is easy. (249)

  2. Came here with a friend for their brunch menu which they also have during the week. The food was amazing! My friend ordered the steak,  potatoes and eggs (substituted biscuits for the eggs instead) and the steak literally melted in our mouths….grilled to perfection. I had the chicken and pecan waffles which were soooooo good!!! Our waitress was extremely  friendly and  attentive….my friend ordered a ginger beer to drink which they didn't have, and our waitress actually went outside to the store next door to get the drink for her which was awesome. I would definitely come back!!! The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars is because our glasses were dirty and I saw a lipstick stain on mine…..however our waitress was more than happy to provide new glasses for us.

  3. I've had this spot bookmarked for a while and was in the neighborhood this past weekend so I decided to give it a go. The wait was over an hour long but that made me want to try the place even more. The space is small, but in a charming cozy way. The music selection was great (R&B and hip hop). The menu had an interesting selection of waffles. I believe my order originally came with a rice and broccoli waffle. I chickened (ha) out and went with an original waffle instead. I regret it. Not because my waffles weren't good but because now I'm really curious to find out what a rice and broccoli waffle tastes like. The waffles were good- not the best I've ever had but not far behind. I also had the fried buffalo chicken and it was perfectly crispy, tender and flavorful. The service was prompt, which I appreciated after such a long wait. It was an evening well spent.

  4. Location: Somewhere in trendy Wiliamsburg. I walked from Bushwick and have no idea how you'd get here via transit!

The place: It's a small breakfast/brunch place with an urban meets country feel to it. I really liked the space, even though some of those tables are real close together! They also have a communal table that I imagine, is good for about 4 people if you go as a group

The goods: I ordered the peach + cranberry lemonade and it was so refreshingly delicious and tasty. Even my date, who never drinks lemonade, liked it (he didn't want to admit it but I got it out of him). I went with a basic breakfast of two eggs (scrambled), potatoes, toast and a side of maple-glazed bacon. My eggs were perfectly scrambled and I didn't need to add any salt for flavor (yay!), the roasted potatoes were amazing, and the bacon…. dear God. Please remember that I generally don't eat meat unless I get a weird hankering for it. This usually happens when I go for brunch or breakfast, and typically involves sausage! Anyway, the bacon was so f**king good and perfect – you just need to order it but keep in mind that you'll get about 7 slices. I don't know why the bacon is so awesome in the USA but not here in Canada. This is perplexing! My date had the shrimp + grits with a poached egg. Naturally, I had to pick at his food and I'm pleased to report that his dish was awesome. Full of flavor and home made deliciousness. This place was a definite hit for us.

Service: Great! From the moment we walked in, we were treated by friendly staff. Very attentive.

Price point: For both breakfasts, the lemonade and a soda water, it was about $45.

  5. My first visit to Sweet Chick was about two years ago, and might I say I was blown away with my experience! I remember having the Waffle with Fried Chicken and it was delicious!

This time around I decided to try something different (which was a huge mistake), and my friend and I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich ($12) with fries. The fried chicken was bland and barely had any flavor. It came with a side of honey which I assume they provide because the chicken is flavorless. However, I wasn't too fond of the honey, it had a weird taste and an odd spice in it. There was also a sad serving of cole slaw and pickled red onion placed in the sandwich. Overall,  a very disappointing sandwich. Not to mention the fries were disgusting. They were sliced VERY VERY thinly and fried to a odd crispy texture, not appetizing at all.

Now lets head over to the gross "mac and cheese" I ordered. Yes I had to place it in quotes because I'm not even sure it had ANY cheese in there. It was basically some shell shaped pasta with store bought Alfredo sauce in it, with crumbled Ritz crackers on top. Maybe its the new "hipster" way of making mac and cheese but it was a total waste of money.

Not sure what all the hype is about, but I probably won't be returning to this spot as there are so many other places with great waffles and fried chicken that also serve authentic mac and cheese. Don't recommend it at all.

  6. I came here with my cousin for brunch and it was really nice. The vibe of the restaurant was chill and it was different. The service was good and the chicken and waffles were incredible. Whoever thought of having chicken and waffles together is so amazing. The mimosas were also very good. The only thing about this restaurant that I am not a fan of is the size of the restaurant. This restaurant is very small. However, it is a prime location so I understand why they stay there. They also gave out a cute postcard with your bill which was very unique.

  7. Sweet chick give me my mojo back! On my birthday.

Yeah this place is THAT good. I had been in a Yelp rut, trying to figure out what to say and not sounding repetitive. My first bite to the shrimp and grits cured it right up. This is THE BEST Brunch I've ever had, one of the best meal in NY. And that's saying a lot because I will totally admit to being a seasoning snob. I am always the person asking for hot sauce and leaving food uneaten because it's bland. If it's not throughly seasoned, I will not eat it.

Sweet chick did not disappoint in any way! Being in the midst of my newly awakened pregnancy cravings, and random bouts of hunger pangs, waiting an hr for food is no longer an option. I want to sit, eat, and waddle out. That's basically life right now. We were seated right away and brought water over within a minute of us being seated. 5 stars for that.

Our server, ( sorry I forgot her name, I blame the baby haha) a sweet lady with tattoos, bob and short bangs was very attentive and accommodating. If I like a server, I will definitely send praises their way in my reviews, because good service in Ny, is close to none.

Now on to the food. We didn't know there was a separate brunch menu, but lord knows I was happy to see the first item on the list. Shrimp and grits!!! I was reluctantly ecstatic. I have been in a search for good shrimp and grits in Ny for years, and none really lived up to what I have had in the south. Never came close. Every time I'm down south I go on a chicken and grits binge, because there's just something about those two things that I can't find here at home. Now you're not reading this wrong when I write that sweet chick has the absolute best shrimp and grits I've EVER had. Ever, hands down, no competition. They start with their incredibly delicious and buttery grits, and top them off with a tomato based, peppery, garlicky, deliciously made sauce and perfectly cooked shrimp. But wait, there's more. They top that off with a perfectly poached egg. So when the egg yolk, the grits, sauce, and shrimp combine, they form a prefect symphony from heaven in your mouth. The grits alone my husband said are the best he's ever had, and to top it off with the shrimp, egg, and that sauce! Absolutely perfect, absolutely incredible.

I'm not done yet. My husband had the eggs Benny, with two poached eggs, chicken hash, on their amazing biscuit. It was perfectly cooked, seasoned and darn delicious. I'm not so much of an egg person, but my husband's face and empty plate spoke volumes.

I also ordered a piece of fried chicken and a biscuit. The chicken was juicy, crispy, and delicious. The biscuit I can eat for breakfast every day! And basically can replace all my starch for the rest of my life. It was buttery, light and fluffy. The biscuit with their berry preserve was a dynamite combo.

I loved it All, and did not touch the hot sauce, salt or pepper on the table, the food is THAT good. We literally sat there, smiling, and my husband says, same time tomorrow? I said heck yes! Happy birthday to me!

I will be back, I will send my family, friends, and random strangers. I will be the president of sweet chick land!

Great job guys, keep up the good work.

  8. Ok, so this was the first time I've ever had chicken and waffles…I'll try to be as objective as possible. The actual food itself was fucking delicious. The combination of maple syrup on the chicken and the waffles was surprisingly amazing (I didn't try any of the gourmet butters or hot sauce they had, I wanted to keep it simple for my first time). The bartender was also very friendly (I sat at the bar to eat) and the drink I had was delicious. That being said, there was barely any meat on the chicken and almost $40 for fried chicken, waffles, and one drink (with tip) seems a little exorbitant to me. I mean yeah I guess Williamsburg is supposed to be expensive but goddamn sir, goddamn. Would maybe go back if I couldn't find good chicken and waffles anywhere else, but I don't think that's the case. Be advised, cheapest entree on the menu is like $17.
