Sweet Chick
“The powdered sugar on top gives it a nice sweet touch, nearly eliminating the need for maple syrup.”
“After a massive and incredible meal at the original Williamsburg location, I've been waiting anxiously for this often delayed new location to open.”
“The food was amazing I had the Chicken & Waffles, Crawfish Hush Puppies and for dessert Coconut Rum Creme Brûlée.”

Being the adventurous Foodie that I am, over the past few months, I have drafted a list of places to eat that I see on TV shows such as "The Best I Ever Ate" or "Diners Drive-ins and Dives" on Food Network or the Cooking Channel.
Before my trip to New York this past weekend, I took a look at my list to see if there were any spots in NY for me to indulge. Sure enough, Sweet Chick [Ludlow Street location] was the very last spot I had added to my listing.
EXCITING! Off we go!
Famous for their Chicken & Waffles, it was perfect for a quick Brunch stop before heading back to Maryland with Mom, Aunty Chrissie and little sis, Emmanuela.
Very cute and perfect for girl chat over brunch too!
We were seated immediately since we arrived as soon as they opened.
We got:
2 orders of Chicken & Waffles (Emmanuela & myself)
Sweet Chick Waffle (Mom)
Home Fries & Side of Fruit (Aunty Chrissie)
Sweet Iced Teas
By 10:30 a.m., it was getting packed. Which is a good sign, right?
H E R E C O M E O U R P L A T E S ! ! !
MY OH MY … P E R F E C T !
The Chicken …
Crispy and crunchy on the outside & super moist on the inside.
T H E E B E S T Chicken & Waffles I've had so far!
Really great chicken and waffles. Full of flavor without having loads of grease. Yummy add-ons for waffles like infused butters.
I had the hush puppies app and they gave you just the right amount to share. Also had the chance to try other apps like the Mac and cheese – delicious but rich, the pulled pork sliders – nice sweetness, and the kimchi pork – tasty.
Small joint but you don't notice it. I want to return ASAP.
3.5/5 Stars
This place has such a great concept that is pretty much executed well. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I love the whole Chicken and Waffles concept, but it just ends at that.
The vibe of the restaurant is nice and chill. I totally dig it. Our server was pretty cool and nice too.
I got the Scythe and Sickle and it was delicious! It has a kick to it, but is not overwhelming to the throat (Ugh don't you hate that feeling when ya drink a spicy cocktail and your throat–not even your mouth–is on fire forever?!).
We had the Crawfish Hushpuppies and they were alright. I felt like there were more fillers than actual crawfish. The sauces that came with it were both really good, though.
Fiancé got the Nashville Chicken n Waffles and he said he liked it. I got the Buffalo Chicken n Waffles and liked it too. I was scared that the Carrot and Celery Waffle would be weird, but it wasn't bad at all! Oooh and I loved the blue cheese! It was amazing.
It was a great experience, but it will take me quite sometime to want to come back.
Look I like chicken and waffles and I like this place. I've had dinner here before and ordered delivery here off of the Caviar. The food here is delicious and the chicken is free range and they use great ingredients.
However my friends and I recently had a less then perfect experience eating there during there "in between time" which is 4-6. Frankly unless you want straight up chicken and waffles or mac and cheese I would avoid this 2 hour window.
Service took forever and the waitress/hostess (short grey hair) was sassy and off putting. 5 stars for the food but I have to take off 1 star.
Sweet Chick is my new favorite spot for southern food. I had a serious food coma and slept for 4 hours afterward so I can't come as often as I would like but that just shows how good the food is, am I right?
You walk in to a lively atmosphere with hip-hop blasting and so much character. We started with the boozy vodka lemonade which I had to stop myself from chugging bc it was SO fresh and delicious.
The chicken and waffles are absolutely perfect. Both waffles & chicken were crispy/crunchy on the outside and so soft on the inside. I often find fried chicken is dry but Sweet Chick chicken is so moist (I hate that word but I need to give you a full visual) and juicy. I added syrup and hot sauce to mine but I could eat it plain and die happy. Obviously had to get the shrimp and grits as well as a side of mac and cheese (now do you understand the food coma?) I licked the shrimp and grits plate clean. Thick grits, jumbo shrimp and perfectly balanced sauce with peppers and tomatoes topped with a poached egg. The mac and cheese is very heavy and so addicting. The crumbled ritz crackers on top is such a nice touch.
Prices are reasonable, service is great and the food is phenom. I'll be back soon!
It's a loud bar atmosphere with hip-hop continually blaring overhead.
The focus of the menu was chicken and waffles. The sweet chick chicken and waffles were pretty good though a more ordinary taste. The chicken was crisp on the outside and the meat inside was moist. I liked eating it with hot sauce. The waffles (I chose apple cinnamon) were good as well. They were accompanied by syrup and three kinds of flavored butter (rosemary, blueberry, and regular.)
The parmigiana chicken was covered with a layer of mozzarella and placed in a small dish with tomato sauce. It came with basil waffles. The waffles were mild and not that different from regular waffles but the parmigiana chicken was much more flavorful with the sauce. I would recommend this dish.
The collard greens were braised simply and studded with craisins. I didn't taste any meat juices in it. In fact, it was on the drier side for collards, though still good.
I thought the donut ice cream needed work, the red bean gelato sandwiched inbetween was pretty good, but the whole dessert itself was too sweet. The donut had the texture of a dense shortbread, not like a donut at all. There was some sort of sweet drizzle on top and milk jam drizzled around the plate. (I would choose a different dessert than this.)
Otherwise, good meal.
DENZYL BACK AT IT AGAIN WITH ANOTHER BRUNCH REVIEW!?!?!
Actually no because if you know me, if the place doesn't have bottomless brunch then its just breakfast. Wait wait my fellow brunch gawds! Don't turn your face so fast. just because this place doesn't contain the 2 hour endless nectar doesn't mean its a snub.
Sweet chick definitely gives a homey vibe when walking in. Very comfortable and cozy atmosphere. When we walked in the place was filled with the sounds of conversation and light music. By the time we were wrapping up our meals around 3pm, somebody said to themselves "lets get this party started" and the music cranked up.
Service was kind and helpful. They were able to help us through the menu and accommodated special needs for the table such as blessing those who wanted to order chicken & waffles hold the waffles.
The food was a bit of a disappointment, but wasn't anything bad. It just wasn't what my taste buds were looking for at the time. I was between the Chicken & Waffles and the Shrimp & Grits meal. I asked the waiter which one he preferred and he quickly advised on the shrimp & grits stating that it was his favorite on the menu. If you're like me, no matter what you were originally craving, if the waiter suggests something, everything else goes out the window. The Shrimp & Grits came out and looked beautiful to the eyes, but fell short on the taste buds. I was expecting the dish to pack a bigger punch of flavor, but it wasn't what I expected. I would've definitely preferred some more spice, and honestly the hot sauce that they provided didn't help enough to overcome that. Obviously, the waiter and I could never play doubles tennis together because we are simply not on the same page.
Sweet chick is a decent spot for a calm breakfast. Next time I go to a place known for their chicken & waffles, nobody will sway me.
If you're craving chicken and waffles – look no further – Sweet Chick is your ultimate destination. This place is dedicated to fried chicken & waffle varieties. They offer a bunch of different pairings like Nashville "hot" fried chicken and Milk Jam Waffle or Cordon Bleu fried chicken with Gruyere and Thyme Waffle. Side note: The hot honey add-on is lit. I highly recommend it!
They also serve up some other southern comfort food like shrimp and grits and cornmeal crusted catfish. But really, you're going to come here for the fried chicken & waffles.
The portions are huge here and you don't have to worry about going home hungry. On the whole, the prices are slightly above average. In particular they had a sriracha cornbread special which was $3 per cornbread. That's a bit steep in my opinion.
This place can get quite crowded and as a result the service can be very slow. Just a heads up – if you have timely post dinner plans, then maybe you should skip this place.
Bottom line: Come here for fried chicken and waffles goodness
