Sweet Waters Steak House
“William was knowledgeable about wine and the menu, went above and beyond to deliver great service, and remained very attentive while he balanced serving my party and half of the restaurant.”
“My entree was a NY strip with their signature steak sauce, which I must say, even rivals Peter Luger's. The steak made my meal.”
“The oysters were fresh and the mignonette was a compliment to the natural brine of the oysters.”

Really enjoyed brunch here!! The ambience is great fancy shmancy! The service was greattt!! The food was delicious I got the Spanish scramble and my husband got the steak and eggs which I wish I got too!! If your going to a steakhouse it's prob a good idea to get their steak!!!!! Lol we got a groupon which included a mimosa or Bloody Mary! We got the mimosas of course 🙂 we will definitely be back!!! Make a reservation they get booked!!
My husband and I went for the first time last night and we were very underwhelmed. The food was good, not great and NOT worth the cost!
We ordered the cognac mushrooms to share as an app. It was too small to share so I just had a taste and let my husband finish it (Awesome Wife Points??). He didn't mind it but I though it was very mushy. The mushrooms did not hold up well to the filling and the amount of sauce on the plate. Meh.
I ordered the dry aged sirloin with a loaded baked potato and sautéed spinach. The steak was good, not mind blowing. Cooked a little more medium than rare, like I had ordered. The baked potato was on par with something you'd get at TGI Fridays. It was so basic. The spinach disappointed me the most. It was flavorless. Completely.
My husband ordered the cowboy steak and his was cooked rare, as asked. His mashed potatoes were almost cold and the onions and mushrooms on top of his steak were also completely flavorless.
Then the bill came. ::choke::
For the price we paid we could have gone to Roots in Summit and had an insanely delicious experience with no regrets. I was so irritated at the quality vs. price at Sweet Waters. Very disappointing. I wish I had checked Yelp like I try to do in case there are any deals. Would have saved us a little. But, I didn't (There go the Awesome Wife Points I earned earlier). Even with the Yelp deal, be prepared to shell out some cash but leave sad.
Our waiter was very nice though!
Not surprisingly, very good steaks–especially if you ask for them "Cajun style" (no long listed on the menu). More surprisingly, excellent fish and very good salads.
Neither inexpensive nor BYO, but pretty with excellent service and outdoor tables, weather permitting.
Takes reservations, unlike some of its Elm Street neighbors, so you can actually arrange with confidence to meet another couple at 730 and not stand in a cold, crowded doorway for half an hour.
We went here for Father's Day brunch and it was a huge letdown. I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was small, oily, and overcooked. The eggs were extremely runny and undercooked. The toast was completely burnt and inedible… I mean, burnt black (see photos). The potatoes were easily the best things on the plate by far. The water smelled of dish soap. Also, service was below-average. The server only came by twice, once to take the order and once to give us the check. He wasn't particularly rude, but he was not cordial or welcoming at all. He dropped off the check without a word and did not crack a smile the whole time. Very awkward. I would not go back or recommend this place to anyone.
I had a spontaneous dinner date with my wife and in-laws tonight (Sunday night) and I will have to say: I don't understand the complaints regarding flavorless or bland food. We started with salads (strawberry, caesar, and house), all of which were fresh and dressed with different, tasty dressings or vinaigrettes.
We didn't order apps because we weren't hungry enough. There seemed to be nice options on the apps list, lots of seafood options. We went straight for the entrees.
For dinner, I had a cowboy steak cooked perfectly to MR. It was well seasoned and far from bland. I had a simple baked potato. My wife had the linguini and meatballs, and said she really liked it. I didn't taste it, so I can't exactly speak to it. My sister ordered the angus burger, and loved it. It was huge. Again, I didn't try it.
So, while some say the food is so-so, I didn't experience a single problem. Maybe it's hit or miss? If so, the restaurant might have to work on its consistency. However, based on my one visit, you can come here and expect a good meal
Food: this was the third time I have been to SW. The first time I really did not like my food. The second time I loved it and this time was a lot like my second experience. I had the scallops and my wife had the filet mignon. Both were awesome. For sides we got the hot cherry peppers and the asparagus which were both very good. FYI the peppers are hot, but addictive. My app was the French onion soup which is legit and my wife had the saint something salad which was very simple, but nicely prepared.
Service: very good. Polite and attentive. Can't comment on knowledge as I didn't ask any difficult questions.
Atmosphere: traditional steakhouse although some seats are pretty close to the front door. They have a double door so the weather stays outside.
Misc: this visit was for valentines day. We had a reservation and the day before the restaurant called us to confirm our reservation. I have no problem with that. However, the person that called reminded us that they are pretty busy and we shouldn't be late. No shit. I should have told them that we like our steaks cooked to order so they better not screw it up. We had three glasses of wine, one beer, two entrees and two sides… Total bill $159.97 before tip. It was good, but I'm not sure when I go back. Roots in summit is very good and NYC has a few good steakhouses as well. But not to be confusing, SW provided a nice meal with good service. Happy with experience.
Came with my girlfriend with a Living Social coupon. This place is expensive! Staff was friendly and timely. They were somehow out ribeye at 8PM and the waiter didn't mention it when he took our orders.
Strip steak – solid steak made the way we like it. Juicy inside. Not amazing compared with other steaks but a bit better then Longhorn.
Crab cake – one of the best I've had. Chunks of crab packed not too tightly. Flavorful, not too salty.
Mac and cheese side – delicious! Warm, cheesy, oily.
French onion soup – salty, otherwise average.
Overall, I'd come back only if I have a Living Social coupon due to their prices. Otherwise, I'd try some place else. This is a solid steakhouse though if you're willing to spend $$$.
